Stranger Things: Series 2 — Episodes 4, 5 & 6: Chapter 4 Will the Wise, Chapter 3 Dig Dug & Chapter 5 The Spy.

5th December, 2017

Oh, I hate that when that happens.

Power cuts, that is.

The electricity for me, the chap next doors, and a woman on the top floor?

Went off at two, this afternoon.

And didn’t get restored until about 5:30.

Thankfully, with very little damage done: beyond the inconvenience.

Damage, low …

Laundry … ?

Practically non-existent … !

~≈§≈~

However?

It seems the electricity is back on.

Something to do with the phase involved with the power distribution in the cupboard in our building: rather than at the nearest substation.

If nothing else?

That let’s me do some laundry, make some videos … and catch a little TV.

Yes …

You’re right: series 2 of Stranger Things …

~≈§≈~

Episode 4 — Will the Wise — picking up from The Pollywog, Episode 3 shows that Joyce (Winona Ryder) has taken Will (Noah Schnapp) back home: little realising home his encounter in the Upside Down has left him infected: and needing a seriously cool atmosphere.

~≈§≈~

Episode 5 — Dig Dug — sees Hopper (David Harbour) trapped in the tunnels under Hawkins: only to be rescued by Joyce after Bob (Sean Astin) realises how to read Will’s map.

~≈§≈~

Episode 6 — The Spy — sees Will rushed to the hospital: after an rescue by Dr Owens’ (Paul Reiser) troops goes awry.   It’s only then Owens realises harming the tunnels harms Will.

Meanwhile?   Dart has moulted: and the newly growing Demogorgon is on a rampage, and being tracked by Steve, Dustin, Lucas and Max.

The pack of Demogorgons … ?   Don’t stick around for long …

Now, I have to admit, that power cut left me in something of a grotty mood: as well as in the dark.

It’s getting nearer to the winter solstice, after all.

But still?

Having the evening to myself meant I could at least watch more of Stranger Things.

Something I think I mentioned about the first series?

Was the train-spottery delight in spotting what I feel is a reference to another movie or book.

There’s a couple that sprung out for me.

Practically every time Eleven — Millie Bobby Brown — uses her long distance communication ability, she does so with the TV on And set to a dead channel: raw static, in other words.

You could tell me that’s reference to Neuromancer or Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan.

But I actually think it’s a reference to
Poltergeist.

Then, in Dig Dug?   Bob, Sean Astin’s character, makes a reference to finding pirate treasure: I’ve not actually seen The Goonies, but Sean Astin’s character, and his friends Are searching for pirate treasure in it.

On top of that … ?

You’ve got Paul Reiser in a series: sending soldiers to their dooms, in underground tunnels, at the hands, tentacles and teeth of hideously monstrous creatures in The Spy.

Well, he was around when that happened in Aliens.

Thirty-one years ago, now: so it’s not like Reiser’s getting typecast …

At ANY rate?

Series two of Stranger Things is STILL as entertaining as series one.

Go see them, if you haven’t already … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
