Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th May, 2018.

10th May, 2018.

Yes: I am — possibly officially — knackered!

And frankly, glad it’s my day off.

Basically?   Once I’ve cut together some Teaser videos?

It means I’ll probably be having a sneaky nap!

I was going to tell you about BT, and the fact it’s .

No, really.

Then a couple of things floated across my timeline.

Firstly?

And sadly?

Dame Barbara Windsor has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Which is sad to hear.   Hopefully, though?

Her and her family will be getting the support they need.

~≈§≈~

On top of that … ?

Radio 4’s just announced they’ll be broadcasting a version of Wuthering Heights.

Which is possibly a cue for a song.

Or maybe not …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in their answers: scoring ten out of ten in the process.   The day also say Olga† looking in to say ‘Hello’.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) South Africa’s first black president was named: on 10th May, 1994.   Who was he?
Q2) A rebellion started on 10th May, 1857: in which British Imperial territory?
Q3) During the US Civil War, 10th May, 1865, saw Union troops capture the President of the Confederate States of America.   Who was that president?
Q4) Who was named as Director of the FBI: on 10th May, 1924?
Q5) Finally … The Betamax video tape was introduced to the world: on 10th May, 1975.   By which well known Japanese company?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 9th May saw an attempt made to steal the UK’s Crown Jewel’s: by Colonel Thomas … who?
A1) Colonel Thomas Blood.
Q2) He made the attempt in which year of the 1670s?
A2) 1671.
Q3) He was disguised as a what: parson, beefeater or raven?
A3) A parson.
Q4) The Jewels were — and are still — kept in a what house?
A4) Jewel House.
Q5) That house is a former what: bank, barracks or bordello?
A5) Barracks.   (Their were called the Waterloo Barracks.)
Q6) That house — and the Jewels — are in which London landmark?
A6) The Tower of London.
Q7) In order to sneak it out of the Tower, the Colonel flattened the crown that’s been used to crown every British monarch since the 13th Century.   Which Saint’s crown IS that?
A7) St Edward’s Crown.   It’s named after Edward the Confessor.
Q8) In the attempt, one of the Colonel’s co-conspirators shoved what down his trousers: the Sceptre with the Cross, the Sovereign’s Orb or the Coronation Spoon?
A8) The Sovereign’s Orb.
Q9) Was the current Imperial State Crown, one of The jewels stolen by the Colonel’s gang?
A9) No: it was made in 1937, a long time after the robbery.
Q10) Finally … True or False: the Colonel was pardoned for the crime.
A10) True: by King Charles 2nd, himself.
Here’s a thought …
“I’ve had enough of Irish Americans who haven’t been back to their country in twenty or thirty years come up to me and talk about the resistance, the revolution back home; and the glory of the revolution, and the glory of dying for the revolution. Fuck the revolution! They don’t talk about the glory of killing for the revolution. What’s the glory of taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and his children? Where’s the glory in that?”
Bono, born 10th May, 1960.
And a tune from Britain’s most influential guitarist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Nice to know, Debbi!   Oh … I’ve sent over a couple of bits: one by email, one by WeTransfer.com.   Ahem!   I fully expect to see Debbi Headroom!   :D

†        I’m pleased we did, too, Olga: if for no other reason than the toilet could be flushed!   We’ll catch you in the (metaphorical) morning: sound’s like you’re tired, too!

Yes. Apart from the running around and public transport in the mornings (everybody seemed to take the same bus as me, although there are many), there was a lot of content packed into two days on something I wasn't terribly familiar with, so my brain was fried. I hope it will recover and I hope you can have some rest too. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
