Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th May, 2018

19th May, 2018.

Yes: I’m back at work for ten.

And frankly?   Can’t believe I’m going to be there until seven o’clock, tonight.

I’m quite possibly going to go back to bed, once I get home.

And not worry too much that I’ve missed the wedding.

On other fronts?

I note that there’s been another school shooting in the USA.

And can’t help but think one thing …

That these crimes seem to be getting more frequent … and monotonously so …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 19th May is the feast day of Saint Dunstan.   He’s the patron saint of whom: musicians, scientists or cheesemakers?
Q2) 19th May is also the feast day of Saint Pudentiana.   She’s the patron saint of which Italian city?
Q3) Giscard d’Estaing was elected French President on 19th May, 1974.   Who’s the current French President?
Q4) Mount Saint Helens erupted: on 19th May, 1980.    The volcano’s in which US State?
Q5) 19th May, 1953, saw the birth of Victoria Wood.   Her last TV work was in an animated version of which Raymond Biggs story?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 18th May, 1291, saw the fall of the city of Acre: after it was besieged by Mamluk forces.   It marked the end of what: the Second Opium War, the Crusades or the Hundred Year Wars?
Q2) The first Briton in space launched on 18th May, 1991.   Who was that Briton?
Q3) The Emperor of the French was proclaimed by the French Senate: on 18th May, 1804.   Who was the emperor?
Q4) Who did the Queen have tea — or NOT have tea — with: on 18th May, 1972?
A4) The Duke of Windsor: also known as Edward 8th: the king who abdicated to marry Wallace Simpson.   (Marrying an American divorcee … hmm … )
Q5) Which Persian poet and mathematician was born on 18th May, 1048?
Here’s a thought …
“They don’t try and eliminate an evil because it’s evil, or because it’s illegal, or because it’s immoral; they eliminate it only when it threatens their existence.”
Malcolm X, born 19th May, 1925 – 21st February, 1965.
And a song written by birthday boy, Pete Townsend …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’m just looking forward to getting home, Olga: and getting back to bed!   Hmmm … We’ve a bank holiday, on the 28th.   Guess who’s doing overtime … ?   (Oh, about the Duke of Windsor?   Marrying American divorcees was a scandal, back then.   Today?   Harry and Meghan … )

†        I’ve never actually tried Vegemite, Debbi: although I DO know it’s similar to Marmite.   And, apparently created when Australian ran out of Marmite, post World War one.   Amazing what you find out …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
