Q1)Because of the pun, ‘May the Fourth be with you,’ 4th May is Star Wars Day. Who — in the original Star Wars — first describes the Force to Luke Skywalker?
Q2)Britain’s first female Prime Minister was elected to office: on 4th May, 1979. Who was she?
Q3)London’s first Mayor was elected on 4th May, 2000. Who WAS that first mayor?
Q4)Eric Sykes was born, on 4th May, 1923. What was the name of the TV show he starred in, between 1972 to 1979?
Q5)Finally … 4th May, 1936, saw the birth of bullfighter, Manuel Benítez Pérez. What name does he use, as a matador?
* Yes, it was was 1921, Olga. What got me mixed up was the relevant act’s name: the Government of Ireland Act 1920. I have to admit, work went well … and very quietly … and completely unweirdly … (You DO know you can embed YouTube videos into a blog post? JUST in case you wanted to swipe that Napoleon 14th tune …)
† Yea, I know, Debbi, I’m the same! Oh, but the way … Radio Four does a show called The Reunion: reuniting various people who’ve done something historic. This week’s is all about The Young Ones‡: required viewing, when I was younger. I don’t know if you can pick it up, over there: but the edition about Dr Who was amazing.
‡ Debbi, did you ever think British comedy was either all Monty Python or Noel Coward … ? Remind me to mention the incredibly surreal slapstick of The Young Ones …
Q1) Obi-Wan Kenobi Q2) Margaret Thatcher Q3) Ken Livingstone Q4) Sykes Q5) El Cordobés Happy Birthday to your Mum (it was my birthday on the 2nd so we're very close). Yes, I know about embedding videos, although I haven't for a while. Thanks for the reminder! Enjoy Star Wars Day!
I've seen more British comedy than Monty Python. Usually on public television. Shows like Are You Being Served? and Absolutely Fabulous. I know they've shown Yes, Minister and Fawlty Towers.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
