Yes, I was a student (mature student, mind you... I can't remember but think I was completing my PhD at Sussex by then) at Sussex University and we did get to hear about those things, although I remember I couldn't watch the second movie as I had a class to teach...
I saw Mark Thomas too, that was at the university theatre/cinema. He was excellent and he would regularly come and chat to students when he was in Brighton (although I did not catch any of his impromptu visits). A very sharp man.
