A) I really need to catch up: the charts are published on Fridays, now, rather than the Sundays of my youth. (I’d’ve posted it earlier: that’s why I didn’t … )
And B) … ?
We now have LadBaby’sversion of We Built This City as the UK’s official Christmas number one for 2018.
It’s …
Nice …
But at least any money earns is going to a good cause.
As for me, singing along … ?
No …
Just no … !

There’s another thing …
I read that parts of the US Government have been shut down: after a row in Congress about funding for Trump’s Mexican Wall.
Frankly?
I’ve never seen something similar happen, here.
The UK government doesn’t work that way.
Frankly, I think if it DID … ?
There’d be riots!

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, newcomer, @Badwolf_Omega† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q3)Stephen of Blois was Crowned as King of England: on 22nd December, 1135. Famously, his reign was marred by a Civil War: against Stephen’s cousin. Who was she?
* You too, Olga: have you managed to get any presents wrapped … ?
† Welcome aboard, Badwolf, nice to have you here! You know, one of these days, I’m going to have to theme a Teaser about Papal elections … !
‡ You’ve managed to miss an interested set of films, there, Debbi! The look of the thing world Miller And co, managed to put together was something … ! (Fury Road, the fourth one? Was possibly the best of the bunch: Charlise Theron was fantastic!)
^ It’s a favourite tune of Jane Fairfax, one of the novel’s characters.
Q1) Emma Q2) (say rather than saw?) 1816. Sorry, I’m forever correcting everything. Blame the course I’m teaching. Q3) Three Q4) Rich Q5) This book was the last published during Austen’s lifetime. Her last book was published posthumously. What was that last book? It seems to have been a joint publication, as a set, of Persuasion and Northanger Abbey in 1818. Unless you are referring to Lady Susan, which she had written much earlier and was not published until 1871. (I’ve never read Lady Susan, but it does sound interesting…). We don't do Christmas presents, really, other than to the children, and there are none other than the child of our cousin, and we already gave her the presents, so no job there. (With my mother I tend to invite her to the theatre or something like that, so no wrapping involved). Have a great Sunday...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

ReplyDeleteSounds like Jane Austen created the female anti-heroine. Not that I'd know. I wasn't an English major, so my reading is pretty pedestrian. :)
