Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-1-2019: Bowie

8th January, 2019.

Yes: I’m off for a haircut, todayª.

Assuming the job centre’s put money …

Yes: they’ve put money in the bank.

I’ll be heading for a haircut, today …

And an interview, tomorrow.

Cheers for the good wishes, everyone: I think I’m going to need them.

I’m a tech watcher … or possibly fan …

At any rate, I keep an eye on the tech news.

And couldn’t help but notice that Samsung have announced a version of iTunes on their smart TVs.

At least … a version that lets you rent and buy movies from the store, and stream things to the TV, via the iTunes Store: or from an Apple device, via AirPlay.

Its comparable to the company making Apple Music available to users of Android.

That’s … nice to see: although I think Apple missed a trick in not doing its own Apple TV set.

It also get’s me wondering what their long term plans are for The Apple TV box they now sell.

I’d rather it kept working for as long as possible.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga And Debbi scoring five out of five, and Badwolf on 4.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 8th January saw the birth of David Bowie.   In which year?
Q2) Arguably?   Bowie’s first hit was a song called Over The Wall We Go: performed by which singer?
Q3) His first album, 1967’s David Bowie, generated at least one minor hit single: 1973’s The Laughingwhat?
Q4) Bowie’s first major film role?   Was in which 1976 sci-fi movie?
Q5) Finally … ?   In the UK, Bowie has had how many Number One studio albums: eight, nine or ten?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Jean Pierre Blanchard and John Jeffries went from Dover to Calais: on 7th January, 1785.   On an early what: hot air balloon, glider or biplane?
Q2) 7th January, 2014, saw the death of entertainment mogul, Run Run Shaw.   He owned TV stations and a film studio, where: Goa, Macao or Hong Kong.
A2) Hong Kong^.
Q3) Jonathan Aitken was released from prison: on 7th January, 2000.   What was the last Cabinet position had held?
Q4) Two gunmen committed a mass shooting: on 7th January, 2015.   At the offices of which Parisian magazine?
Q5) 7th January, 1976, saw a Royal Navy Frigate collide with a gunboat from where: Somalia, Iceland or Nova Scotia?
A5) Iceland.
Here’s a thought …
“I always had a repulsive sort of need to be something more than human. I felt very very puny as a human. I thought, ‘Fuck that. I want to be a superman.’”
David Bowie.
And my favourite Bowie album …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Cheers, me dears.   There’s a possibility I’ve got another one lined up, @Badwolf.   Here’s hoping!   (Glad to help on the link front: it’s my way of saying “Thank you for being a regular.”)

†        Cheers, Olga: I think I might need it.   There’s a possibility of another, next week, which WILL need the ID: I hope that provisional driver’s license gets back, quick: I might just need it!

‡        Yes, I’ve left you a comment, Debbi.   And you’re right, British rocketry isn’t done in Sheffield.   It’s all down in Surrey.   No, really in Surrey!

^        It’s ALSO a fictional restaurant in Shadowrun’s version of Seattle.

ª        I haven’t downloaded a copy of Please Mr Gravedigger from YouTube, using a specialised Firefox extension.   Nor have I used some of the audio from that video in the introductory video.   That would be naughty.   And disrectful.   Technology’s amazing … … … … … … … …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
