Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th January, 2019.

9th January, 2019.

Yep: I officially forgot to put my alarm on …

On a day when I’ve got an interview in London.

As you can possibly imagine, that’s left me feeling just a touch … you know … rushed … !

At least I can say I’ve had a haircut …

And a little bit of time: given the interview’s at two!

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Badwolf†, David‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi on  five out of five, Badwold on four, and David on two.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 9th January, 1923, saw the first flight of a what: auto-gyro, biplane or monoplane?
Q2) Alison Halford resigned her post: on 9th January, 1992.   She was, at the time, Britain’s most senior female what: MP, police officer or head mistress?
Q3) Dale Frail and Aleksander Wolszczan announced they had found the first planet outside our solar system: on 9th January, 1992.   The planets were around a what: black hole, pulsar or nova?
Q4) 9th January, 1886, saw the both of luthier and composer, Lloyd Loar.   Loar introduced what to the instruments he designed: pick-ups, cutaways or f-holes?
Q5) Finally … ?   January 9, 1925, saw the birth of Lee van Cleef.   In which film did he play Reese?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 8th January saw the birth of David Bowie.   In which year?
A1) 1947.
Q2) Arguably?   Bowie’s first hit was a song called Over The Wall We Go: performed by which singer?
A2) Paul Nicholas: under the stage name, Oscar.
Q3) His first album, 1967’s David Bowie, generated at least one minor hit single: 1973’s The Laughingwhat?
A3) The Laughing Gnome.   (“That’s Fred: he’s a metrognome!”   On a serious note?   Please Mr Gravedigger is the better tune … )
Q4) Bowie’s first major film role?   Was in which 1976 sci-fi movie?
A4) The Man who Fell to Earth.   (You know, I’ve never actually seen The Man who Fell to Earth.   I may have to remedy that, at some point.)
Q5) Finally … ?   In the UK, Bowie has had how many Number One studio albums: eight, nine or ten?
A5) Nine.
Here’s a thought …
“I believe in showing real violence, not toy violence. Real violence turns you off because you know it’s not the thing to do. If you show violence realistic enough people don’t want to do it.”
Lee van Cleef, January 9, 1925 – December 16, 1989.
And, as it’s Jimmy Page’s birthday … ?

A song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’m hoping it does, Olga: I’m just thankful I didn’t get up TOO late … !

†        I tell you what, @BadWolf, I managed to get another reply to yesterday’s Teaser Video.   Which was nice to get …

‡        Nice to have you aboard, David.   Now … think you can beat your score, next time … ?

^        Pleasure, as always, Debbi!   Well, it WAS the first blog to give me a mention … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
