Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-4-2019: The Shuttle

19th April, 2019

Yep: I’ve a busy morning, lined up, today.

I’ve finally managed to re-arrange the phone interview re-arranged.

So that goes off, this morning, at quarter past ten.

Then I’ve got my regular meeting with the benefits office.

Which … will probably go about as usefully as ever.

Oh …

And I’ve come to the conclusion that my tablet’s going to have to go: I need the money, more than I need the technology!

~≈¥≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring four out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 12th April saw the first operational launch of a Space Shuttle.   In which year?
Q2) Which shuttle was it?
Q3) The mission was designated STS … what?
Q4) Name either of the crew on that flight.
Q5) Finally … ?   The Shuttle landed back on Earth, on which date: 15th April, 14th April or 13th April.
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Riots started in Brixton: on 11th April, 1981.   After a young black British man was what: murdered, assaulted or arrested?
A1) Arrested, the day before.
Q2) Brixton itself, is part of which London borough?
A2) Lambeth.
Q3) One factor that contributed to the Riots were a heavy-handed police operation called Operation … what?
A3) Operation Swamp: also call Swamp 81.
Q4) How many member of the public — according to Wikipedia — were injured as a result of the riot?
Q5) The eventual government enquiry into the riots were chaired by whom?
A5) Leslie Scarman, 1st Baron Scarman, commonly known as Lord Scarman.
Here’s a thought …
“We are with you one thousand percent and we are awful proud to have been a part of it. Good luck gentlemen.”
Launch Director, George Page, on the launch of the Shuttle.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Morning, Badwolf: did you recognise the tune in today’s Teaser video … ?

†        There is some, Olga: and it pays just about enough to make the thing worth going for, as well!   I think the current version of Sound Forge is — hang on — current versionsahem!are Sound Forge Pro 12, and Sound Forge Audio Studio 13.   I think the limited video capacities are there so you can prep up an audio file: then add the video that the audio matches.

‡        That is is, Debbi!   Oh, and the woman who came up with the software that built the image is getting plaudits!   And open mouths: the data for the image was measured in petabytes!   Sixty four hard drives?   Dear Lord!   (Oh … recognise the music in today’s Teaser video … ?)

  3. I saw! And the music sounds familiar, but I can't think where I've heard it before. :-/

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
