Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2019: King James Strikes Again … !

2nd May, 2019.

Yes: it’s officially Local Election Day.

If you’re in bits of the UK.

Personally?

I’ll be doing that later: once I’ve finished, indoors.

And … ?

For once, this year, I’ve actually found a party that’s standing, that I’m comfortable voting for.

Frankly?

If they weren’t standing … ?

I’d be encouraging folks to do what I usually do: if no one I like the look os is standing.

And telling you to spoil your vote.

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi and Olga on five out of five, and Badwolf on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The first version of the King James Bible was published: on 2nd May of which year?
Q2) It was initially published by Robert Barker: in which city?
Q3) It’s a version of the Bible used by whom: the Church of England, the Russian Orthodox Church or the Roman Catholic Church?
Q4) The first and second Westminster Companies worked on the King James Bible.   They were two out of the six teams of what?
Q5) Finally … ?   Permission to print the King James Bible is — in England and Wales — limited to whom: HM Stationary Office, WH Smiths or the Queen’s Printer?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 1st is — obviously — May Day.   In which European country would you be, if you were scaring snakes?
A1) Bulgaria.
Q2) In Hawaii, May Day is also known as what Day?
A2) Lei Day.
Q3) Which Celtic festive is usually celebrated on May Day?
A3) Beltane.
Q4) Which May Day tradition gets its earliest mention in the 14th Century: in Wales?
A4) The Maypole.
Q5) Finally?   In many May Day celebrations, the festivities are started by the May … whom?
A5) Queen.
Here’s a thought …
“It is not simply a translation, but a poetic translation, written to be read out loud...to lodge in the mind and to disturb the temporal with the haunting sound of the eternal.”
Peter Hitchens.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Morning, Badwolf!   Oooh … there’s all the posts I did for Torchwood, if you’re interested …

†        That it was, Olga, that it was.   Still … I’m looking after Jude, today: that’s usually fun …

‡        I’ll keep my eyes peeled, Debbi … !

Here we've just had the central government elections and are due for the local elections in a few weeks. No rest for the wicked (it is keeping the radio station pretty busy as well!). Have fun with Jude!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
