Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th May, 2019.

7th May, 2019.

Yep: it’s official.

Jude, my eight year old nephew … has decided to he want’s to be a YouTuber.

He knows I’ve got a YouTube channel.

And been watching videos by YouTuber, Jelly.   (Who was allowed on at the age of nine: so Jude assures us.)

OK: I think Mummy’s going to have something to say about that: especially as you can open a YouTube channel at 13, five years from now.

Lord knows Grandma and Aunty Anna had a few choice words!

One thing I know I suggested, last night?

Was, at least, seeing if could make a movie on Mummy’s computer.

May I present …

Ahem … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Geoffrey Dummer presented a scientific paper: on 7th May, 1952.   What did that paper outline: the diode, the integrated circuit or the cathode ray tube?
Q2) The STS-49 Space shuttle mission was launched: on 7th May, 1992.   It was the maiden flight of which Space Shuttle?
Q3) The party of Prime Minister Ian Smith, won a huge win in the elections held on 7th May, 1965.   In which (then) nation?
Q4) Vladimir Putin assumed office as President of Russia: on 7th May, 2000.   Who replaced him as President, in 2008?
Q5) Finally … ?   The Council of Europe was founded: at a congress that started on 7th May, 1948.   That congress was held in which city?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Penny Black went into use: on 6th May of which year?
A1) 1840.
Q2) It had been issued on which date of the year?
A2) 1st May.
Q3) The Penny Black was the first British stamp to have an adhesive back.   What was the first UK stamp to have perforations?
A3) The Penny Red.
Q4) A version of the Penny Black was meant to be used by government departments.   What was it called?
A4) The VR Official.
Q5) Finally … ?   The Penny Black was the world’s first official stamp.   What was the second stamp?
A5) The Two penny blue.
Here’s a thought …
“I think it’s one of the scars in our culture that we have too high an opinion of ourselves. We align ourselves with the angels instead of the higher primates.”
Angela Carter, 7 May 1940 – 16 February 1992.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

It seems all kids of a certain age want to be YouTubers. The son of one of my cousins (he is a bit older than Jude) has told his grandparents that's what he wants to do. I'm sure I'll get some update on the situation this summer... Good job with the video, though!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
