Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-6-2019: The Limelight Department.

11th June, 2019.

Yes: I’m off to an interview, today.

And … ?

I have to admit to nerves: and to the usual feeling that going would be pointless.

Hopefully, though?   I’ll be able to overcome that … and carry out the interview, with some success.

Possibly successful.

I’m always aware that these things aren’t guaranteed …

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Badwolf and Olga on five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The Limelight Department — one of the world’s first film studios — was established on 11th June, 1892.   In which country?
Q2) More to the point, in which city … ?
Q3) Who ran the Limelight Department: HM Stationary Office, the Salvation Army or the Milk Marketing Board?
Q4) One of the Department’s pieces — Soldiers of The Cross — is sometimes felt to be the world’s first what: slide show, power point presentation or feature film?
Q5) Finally … ?   Limelight were first used where: theatres, cinemas or churches?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 10th June, 1945, saw Australian forces liberate what’s now where: Brunei, Bahrain or Bhutan?
A1) Brunei.
Q2) 10th June, 1910, saw the birth of Howlin’ Wolf.   The singer performed what we now call what blues?
Q3) 10th June, 1996, saw which party not attend all-party talks in Stormont?
A3) Sinn Féin.
Q4) 10th June, 1928, saw the birth of writer and artist, Maurice Sendak.   What was the name of his first children’s book?
Q5) Finally … ?   The 2017 World Expo start on 10th June.   In which country … ?
Here’s a thought …
“I love the excitement, the centre stage, the limelight.”
Bobby Riggs.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Cheers, Anne … !   I think I’m going to need it.   And you’re right: Tetris is great.   I usually go for Tetris Blitz, though.   And I’m betting you’re glad you didn’t get the Google Nest.   They didn’t tell people about their mic!   I’m just glad I’ve got an Apple TV … Oh … Good Morning!   (Oh, the Apple TV’s got a version of Pacman: it’s great fun!)

†        You’re, Olga: it would be equally handy on audio!   I get the same problem with some of my audio … !    Either way?   I’d imagine it’s quite powerful software, on powerful hardware: video rendering usually needs umph!   (That’s why that new MacPro’s so expensive: it’s VERY powerful!)

‡        Oh, THAT it is, Debbi, that it is!

I have the Fire Tv, it also has a voice remote, which records what you ask. On the Echo dot, it does record even when I don't use the wake word "Alexa" I came across this when it malfunctioned and had to go into settings to fix re-connect through the Alexa App. Very Big Brother World. Tetris is one of my favourite games

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
