Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th July, 2019

19th July, 2019.

Yep: it’s official.

My nephew’s a fan of pizza!

Every so often?   Every so often, I get to baby-sit my nephew, Jude.   Who’s an utter charmer, I should add.

But definitely one for cheese and tomato pizza.

Not that I’m getting bored, but it’d be nice if we could have a burger, occasionally.

Oh, have you been using FaceApp?

The world’s latest sensation is capable of applying several filters: including one that artificially ages you.

With the resulting photos going viral on Facebook.

It’s not necessarily flattering, but there you go.

The one big fly in the ointment?

Of course, there’s privacy issues.

No worse — I’d’ve said — than those used by other services.

But … ?

Senator Chuck Schumer has asked the FBI to investigate the company: as its main office are in Russia.

As he feels both the privacy issues — and the security of the app — need looking at.

Personally?

I always think that’s a bit rich, coming from a US lawmaker.

Especially when privacy issues around American software are just as wide spread.

Go figure …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*,  and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Anne scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 19th July is Martyrs Day.   But in which Southeast Asian nation?
Q2) 19th July, 1951, saw the birth of director, Abel Ferrara.   What was the name of his controversial, 1979, film?
Q3) Which ship sank on 19th July, 1545?
Q4) 19th July, 1976, saw who petition the then Foreign Secretary?
Q5) Finally … ?   Lady Jane Grey was replaced on the English throne: on 19th July, 1553.   By whom?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 18th July is Nelson Mandela International Day: also known as Mandela Day.   It makes the date of his what: birth, the start of his trial in Rivonia, or death?
A1) Birth.
Q2) 18th July, 1966, saw the arrest of which US serial killer?
Q3) Patricia Cahill and Karen Smith were arrested in Thailand,
on 18th July, 1990.   On suspicion of smuggling what: rhino horn, heroin or child pornography?

Q5) Finally … ?   18th July, 1848, saw the birth of cricketer, W. G. Grace.   In his last years of first class cricket — from 1900 to 1904 — he played for which side?
Here’s a thought …
“I don’t know what DVD commentaries are about. I’d like to strangle the person who came up with that concept.”
Abel Ferrara, born 19th July, 1951.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        That’s a bloody good idea, there, Anne: why on Earth I didn’t think of it, I don’t know!   Mind you, t-shirts on hangers … (Oh, got thinking of you, writing a couple of today’s questions …)

†        On other fronts, Debbi … who on Earth is/was the Cincinnati Strangler?   He’s a new one on me!

Drying washing can be a pain in damo weather, also keep them in the light, I found clothes in light dried quicker open window. We had a very small two-bedroom flat but the second room was like a box, the kitchen was tiny, so limited space. Mom didn't like us putting clothes on the veranda she felt it made us look so common, I thought eh!, she is so like Hyacinth of Keeping up appearances. It was in lovely area, but I had to keep up my reputation up at the time of the daughter-inlaw from Hell lol

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
