Friday 28 February 2020

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-2-2020: Friday

28th February, 2020.

Yes: it’s official.

I have an earworm … and I think I know what’s given it to me.

I’ve had my usual bowl of cornflakes, this morning.

And had the BBC’s teletext news, on whilst eating.

And noticed that a proposed safe injection site in Philadelphia had been cancelled: after wide spread opposition.

safe injection site, so you know?   Is a safe area for addicts to inject: and something that used to be called shooting galleries.

Either way … ?

The line “In any shooting gallery, where promise are made,” immediately went through my mind … and let Dire Straits’ Tunnel of Love start banging through my head!

Lovely …

Have a good day.

*        That’s very true, Olga, very true, indeed.   Saying that … ?   I only worked out how to access and edit a master slide in Keynote … when I did a course about PowerPoint, funnily.   Some of the keyboard shortcuts are similar!   Jude and I had a good time, yesterday, I think … once I’d got him off Youtube!   Jelly and the mob have more videos out!   (Oh, remember we got talking about laptop latches?   I saw this on Quora.   It’s one of the more sensible questions I’ve seen … )

†        You’re not here, Debbi!   I’m here, you’re there!   Trust me, I’d notice a recovering lawyer floating around the place!   Oh … remember that old line in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?   About Zaphod being the best bang since the big one … ?   I saw this

A very good explanation, indeed. Have you ever had a Raspberry Pi? I had a young patient once who was extremely knowledgeable about computers and really enjoyed his (he had Asperger's so wasn't our typical patient, and we had lengthy conversations about films as well). I just wondered.
By the way, have you ever watched a movie called "I am not a serial killer"? They were showing it yesterday on the telly here, and I was curious. A pretty strange notion (set in the USA and filmed there by an Irish director) but I really enjoyed it.

And, as earworms go, this one is pretty good.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
