I hate waking up with earworms: with songs playing through my head.
Never-the-less?
I woke up with Gaga’s Love Game banging around my head.
Why, I don’t know.
I just want to know what a bunch of dancers on the New York subway … are dancing around a bottle of Campari?
We’ll possibly never know …
~≈😕≈~
JUST as a follow-up?
I mentioned the closure of the Brentwood Centre, yesterday.
The BBC has filled in a few details.
It seems the Trust has been in talks with Brentwood Council since July: and that in the meeting about it, the Council refused to help the Centre financially.
Although the minutes from the meeting have yet to be released, it seems that was an unanimous vote.
Frankly?
I can’t help but think the vote was a stitch up: at least, that’s what the Brentwood Centre’s site seems to imply.
Equally frankly?
It strikes me that Brentwood Councillors need serious replacing, come May, ’21.
Between this, the lack of a cinema and the local phone mast?
I’m thinking none of Brentwood councillors are worth re-electing.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Olga†, Mum‡, Edith^ and Debbiª putting in their answers: with Trevor, Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, Mum on four and Edith on three.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …
Q1)29th October, 2015, saw China end what: the one-child policy, Communist rule or the One Country Two Systems principle?
Q2)29th October is Coronation Day. Where: Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam?
Q3)29th October, 1947, saw the birth of actor, Richard Dreyfuss. He plays Glenn Holland in which film?
Q4)29th October, 1891, saw the birth of actress, singer and comedienne, Fanny Brice. Who played Brice in the 1964 musical, Funny Girl?
Q5)Finally … ? A number of gems were stolen on 29th October, 1964: including the one known as the Star of India. This particular star is a what: ruby, sapphire or diamond?
Q5)Finally … ? Auguste Escoffier was born on 28th October, 1846. What was he: a soldier, chef or politician?
A5)A chef. (In the episode, The Power of Three, Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor treats Amy and Rory to dinner at the Savoy. The chef on duty was a chap called Auguste. Ever wonder who that was …?)
Here’s a thought …
“There is no director who can direct you like an audience.”
Fanny Brice, October 29, 1891 – May 29, 1951.
And, given today is Pilot frontman, Dave Paton, birthday? A song …
* Yes, I realise that, Trevor. There‘s a community hall just opposite the Centre, as well. (We could do with something similar around here: but under the circumstances … )
† I double checked the Wikipedia entry, Olga. Apparently, the Catalan version of Manuel’s from Mexico City. And, just in case it’s needed … ? I think Cleese and Booth mixed up the Siberian hamster with the European Hamster. They’re rat sized … !
‡ Morning, Mum!
^ You know, I’m surprised football’s not bigger than it is, Edith, given that … ! We’d have to see if the 2022 World Cup, helps. Mind you, that’s in Qatar!
Oh, I couldn’t resist using the song by Pilot, Edith: after we got talking about Wizards of Waverly Place. They did the original version of Magic, the Selena Gomez tune.
ª Ooooh … you’ve got a new fangled posh phone, Debbi! With a display … ! Wish I could afford one … !

Good job we did not have a one-child policy in this country. I am the eldest of 7 children. There is nothing like growing up in a big family. My maternal grand-mother was the eldest of 13 children. It seemed like I was related to half of Scunthorpe when I was growing up.
Q1) the one-child policy Q2) Cambodia Q3) Mr Holland’s Opus Q4) Barbra Streisand Q5) Sapphire Good to know. Sad to hear about the leisure centre. I think you're right about the local politicians, judging by their results. Things took a rather Monty-Pytonesque turn here yesterday. La guardia civil (a police corps that operates in the whole of Spain and well, let's say that they've acquired a reputation for being pro old regime and quite right wing over the years) mounted an operation in Catalonia against independentists again, doing searches of houses and business of people allegedly involved in the vote and other stuff... To top it all they said that they had evidence from tapped phone conversations that Putin had offered Puigdemont 10000 troops to turn Catalonia into the Switzerland of Spain. To be honest, the response on Twitter was quite funny, with plenty of people pointing out that every time things went wrong, suddenly they would find some more evidence against somebody here or they would do a raid and incarcerate a lot of people, only to let them out eventually when no case could be proven (but never any apology either, and that is after disrupting the lives of a few people), while others offered food and accommodation to the Russian troops. The best was the Russian response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. https://twitter.com/EmbajadaRusaES/status/1321529417609420803 They are basically saying that the information is wrong as they should add two zeros to the 10000, and also had forgotten to add that the troops would be transported on planes Mosca and Chato (from the Spanish Civil War) made in Catalonia and hidden, in parts in the mountains, and they'd be assembled when they got the order. Really, one doesn't know if one should laugh or cry. Thankfully they haven't taken it seriously either. Oh, joy. Of course, to make it even more flagrant, they gave the operation/investigation the name of a battle where the Spaniards troops sent to help the Nazis fought against the Russians. Anyway, I thought you'd love this pic as well. https://twitter.com/josepcverges/status/1321723164980842496 Take care!

It was nice to hear January by the group Pilot. I find that if I have a song in my brain when I wake up, the song is trying to tell me something. Perhaps that is just me.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
