Oh, I think arsenic has no taste, that is why it was so commonly used as a poison (for rats, and people, of course. Cianide is much faster but it tastes and smells of bitter almonds, so people are unlikely to eat it willingly or without suspicion. These days it is very easy too detect, and it is not very fast, so not that common). I think there is plenty of arsenic on the soil, as it has been used for a lot of things, and rice tends to absorb it better than most other plants (we all know how good rice is to dry things, including mobile phones and others, because it sucks the water up). Other kinds of rice, not white rice, are better from the point of view of sugar content, but I don't think that would make a difference to the arsenic... (The recommendation is to avoid it in children, as the amount needed to have nefarious effects would be much lower, especially in very young children).
Having worked in psychiatry I always think about Jo Brand, although she has a very personal style. I don't think it would work for me.
While I'm not actively on social media today, this blog is a tough habit to break. :)
