Friday 23 December 2022

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd December 2022.

23rd December, 2022.

Right … It’s officially Friday: and payday.

And … ?

Frankly, I’d like to go shopping, today: rather than leave it until tomorrow.

When — as it’s Christmas Eve — taxi prices are higher.

Unfortunately?

It’s raining.

We’ll have to see, I think.

~≈†≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Sailors from the USS Pueblo were released from internment: on 23rd December, 1968.   From where: North Korea, North Vietnam or Taiwan?

Q2)        23rd December, 2007, saw an agreement made.   An agreement that meant which country would become a republic: Bhutan, Nepal or Tibet?

Q3)        Jazz musician, Chet Baker, was born: on 23rd December, 1929.   He played the trumpet, piano, and which ‘F’: the flute, flugelhorn or flumpet?

Q4)        Tibb’s Eve is celebrated on 23rd December: in Newfoundland and Labrador.   Newfoundland and Labrador are where: the USA, Mexico or Canada?

Q5)        Finally … ?   23rd December is the Birthday of the Queen day: in Sweden.   Who’s the current Queen Consort of Sweden?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        22nd December is National Mathematics Day.   Where: China, India or Brazil?
A1)        India.

A2)        Orthodox Churches.

Q3)        22nd December, 1885, saw Itō Hirobumi named as Japan’s first what: Prime Minister, Shogun or Daimyo?
A3)        Prime Minister.

Q4)        Ralph Fiennes was born on 22nd December, 1962.   He plays which character in the James Bond movies?
A4)        M.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Footballer, Mark Robins, was born on 22nd December, 1969.   He currently manages which team: Bristol City, Coventry City or Huddersfield Town?
A5)        Coventry City.
Here’s a thought …
“I have profound gratitude for the efforts made by the Japanese people at the time who helped reconstruct and improve the country devastated by the war.”
Emperor Akihito, born 23 December 1933.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        The accuracy doesn’t surprise me, Olga: biopic makers have to be accurate, or face criticism from someone.   And I think the makers of this had help from the estate.
I’m not a Netflix subscriber, either: I can usually find stuff to watch, elsewhere.   But I’ve had a few offers to share.   (Netflix seems in two minds about it: especially as it means Stranger Things gets a wider audience.)
And noise isn’t surprising.   I saw Battlestar Galactica in Romford, when it was originally released to UK cinemas.   The sound system at the place meant you felt those ships launching!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        No, no, it’s nothing to worry about, Debbi, I’m just planning ahead for October … … … …

  1. That’s a point, Olga: Steven Spielberg’s on today’s Desert Island Disc.

They’ve just played Somewhere, from West Side Story.

I did enjoy Spielberg's West Side Story. The cast is more "appropriate" if nothing else, although I do like the original as well. My mother wears hearing aids, and she had one replaced recently for a newer model, and it was too much for her.
I saw more news about Netflix and sharing passwords. It referred to South and Central America in particular, but said they had tried to have a membership per household by locating the account holder, and adding an option to take it with you if you had several places, but it seems it was difficult to implement. It seems they want to try something else. I was wondering, because in the UK they have the TV licence and they are supposed to check, but that is tied to an address. In any case, we shall see. I suspect that whatever they bring, people will find a way to get around it.
Good luck with the shopping. The closest to Christmas, the craziest it gets, but I don't need to tell you that.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
