Q2)Children in the UK were awarded damages on 19th February, 1968: after being born with deformities. Deformities caused by what: thalidomide, fluoxetine or aspirin?
A2)Thalidomide. (Apparently? The drug was supposed to be a good treatment for morning sickness. The Wikipedia entry on the drug tells me it’s considered good for a range of other conditions: but that men whose partners may become pregnant, must use contraception whilst being treated with it. It makes you think.)
Q3)Sportsman, Ma Lin was born on 19th February, 1980. What does he play: snooker, ping pong or Quoits?
A3)Ping pong. (It’s also called table tennis and whiff whaff. Can anyone mention alliteration?)
Q4)19th February, 1954, saw the Soviet Union transfer what to Ukraine: Crimea, $5, 000, 000 or 80 tons of wheat?
A4)Crimea. (The whole basis for the modern Russian invasion? Is that they want it back.)
Q5)Finally … ? Merle Oberon was born on 19th February, 1911. Which of Henry 8th’s wives did she play: in The Private Life of Henry VIII?
* I think you’ll be fine, Olga: but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Feel free to use the sketch as a lesson: although I don’t know how well it would translate! (Would showing Jordi the Spam sketch be a good idea … ?)
† Hmmm … how are you with writing about people who AREN’T messiahs, Debbi … ?
Q5) 5th February Thanks, Paul. Yes, we've both survived the class. The pictures from your sister's new flat look very nice. These conversions in nice old buildings can work out very well, but it depends on how the conversion is done, as sometimes you end up with strange and weird spaces. Enjoy Jude's visit and have fun!
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
I can see an error in your marking. Recheck the answers to Q1, I can see a wrong year there.Must be a Brentwood problem.
