Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th February 2023.

19th February, 2023.

Yep: it’s Sunday.

And … ?   I’m getting to see my sister’s new flat.

I might just have to persuade someone they’ve got a nice bedroom!

We’ll just have to see.

You’re possibly aware I watch the occasional bout of TV: having notice my recent review of For All Mankind’s second episode.

But I’ve also caught the first episode of Star Trek Picard: it’s called ‘The Next Generation,’ and looking rather good.

It’s you’d like to read my written review — or watch the video version — you’d be perfectly welcome to.

Hitting the like button would be nice, too!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        19th February saw NASA’s Mars Odyssey start mapping Mars.   19th February of which year: 2001, 2002 or 2003?

Q2)        Children in the UK were awarded damages on 19th February, 1968: after being born with deformities.   Deformities caused by what: thalidomide, fluoxetine or aspirin?

Q3)        Sportsman, Ma Lin was born on 19th February, 1980.   What does he play: snooker, ping pong or quoits?

Q4)        19th February, 1954, saw the Soviet Union transfer what to Ukraine: Crimea, $5, 000, 000 or eighty tons of wheat?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Merle Oberon was born on 19th February, 1911.   Which of Henry 8th’s wives did she play: in The Private Life of Henry VIII?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1)        New Zealand.

A2)        7.

Here’s a thought …
“Land is security to me.   I need gardens that are mine to walk on.”
Merle Oberon, 19 February 1911 – 23 November 1979.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Handy Jude was around!)

I have no idea what’s caused that, Olga: but I’m getting it, too.   I thought it could have been the songs … but I have a funny feeling the Scunthorpe problem has turned up, somewhere, without me spotting it!
Nice to know the day went as well as could be expected.   Although I’ve got a confession.   I can never think of the phrase, “I’m sorry, I have a cold,” without thinking of another Python sketch …

OK … I’ll forbear to mention Pirate Bay, Debbi!   :D   My review of ‘The Next Generation’ is up, if you were curious.
Oh, pointless trivia for you … the Parrot Sketch is based on an old one Michael Palin did for How to Irritate People.

Ah the Scunthorpe problem was nearly known as the PENIStone problem.

All attempts at censorship run by American companies fails.

There was some software to protect schools from Porn.

It managed to stop school from finding the times of and booking Pantomimes.

2 shows that I remember being blocked were “Puss in Boots” and “Dick Whittington” .

Fabulous sketch! I'd seen it before but a long time ago. I hope my voice is better for Jordi's class tomorrow, but at least that is indoors. The perfect excuse to make him talk more, I guess
