Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th March 2026

15th March, 2026.

Yes: it’s official: my nephew was over, yesterday.

And yes: he’s made a video.

Using my copy of Final Cut Pro, I should add, as he can’t access it using his user account.

I’m assuming is because I’m using the rental version of the app, rather than the purchased version.

At any rate, Jude’s made that FC ’26 video using Final Cut, rather than iMovie, found some interesting sound effects … and helped me find the pitch altering effects in the process.

Can you hit the like button, on that video, please?

That would be a nice way of saying ‘Thank You’!

~≈⚽️≈~

As an additional thought … ?

I tell you — in today’s introduction video — that I’d had a realisation … !

One that’s a lot less exciting than an enthusiastic marketer would have you believe.

I got a webcam, late last year: one that cost a fortune, at the time, one I couldn’t afford again, and one that — in theory —could record in 4k.

Yes: I still have to figure that out!

But … ?

One that worked well enough.

My only problem … ?

Was the fact the cable was wearing a bit thing.

Which had me worried: my (limited) experience of webcams told me I’d need to replace the whole unit: something I couldn’t afford to do.

It wasn’t until I did a little reading up on the model concerned, that I realised the thing had a separate, connecting cable: one that could be easily replaced.

And cheaply replaced, at that.

I was thankful!

As, while I’m aware I’m be spending money, I’ll be spending less than I was expecting.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2025 — David Cronenberg

15th March, 2025: David Cronenberg.

I have to say, I had a nice day, yesterday: company, light shopping, what have you.

This morning … ?

I’ve woken up to two things going off.

One?

I had to retune the TV.

Occasionally, it loses the BBC channels, and needs to be manually re-tuned.

That got me swearing.

On top of that … ?

The boiler pressure dropped to zero: which meant not heating or hot water.

Thankfully, the engineer who fixed the boiler the last time this happened had shown me what to do.

So I could correct that, as well.

But … ?

I can’t help but think the over night temperature had something to do with the boiler pressure.

And I did a lot of cursing, this morning.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th March, 2024.

15th March, 2024.

Right … it’s Friday!

So?

Frankly, that means it’s going to be a nice, quiet day.

Or a nice, boring day: depending on how it goes!

I may JUST have to do stuff: if I can find a movie?

That might be an idea …

~≈🍄‍🟫≈~

I have to admit, I’m on Quora: the question and answer site.

It’s interesting to see stuff go past.

With that said?

You still see questions from people that believe — or, at least, imply — that the moon landing was faked.

It’s tempting to leave a really sarcastic reply to those questions.

Mentioning the simple fact that — if the USA had faked the landing? — the headline from Pravda, the official Soviet newspaper, would read ‘FAKE MOON LANDING’.

Not ‘FIRST LUNAR EXPEDITION’!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th March 2023.

15th March, 2023.

Yes: it’s Wednesday.

And I have to wonder why people have stopped calling it Hump Day.

I have no idea: but am guessing it’s something to do with Elon Musk taking over Twitter.

That’s where I usually used to see the phrase.

At any rate … ?

It’s Wednesday, the day after my new uploaded these:

I hope you enjoy them!

~≈Â≈~

Oh … earworms, songs playing through your head.

I get them, occasionally.

And, just recently?

I’ve had live versions of Wet Leg’s ‘Chaise Longue’ banging away through my head.

It’s a lot better than the studio version, I know that!

Now … am I the only one who thinks Hester Chambers —Wet Leg’s very blonde guitarist — looks vaguely like Hellraiser star, Jamie Clayton.

Jamie Clayton

Rhian Teasdale (L) and Hester Chambers (R).

You tell me!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th March, 2022

15th March, 2022.

Shopping!

I’ve got to admit, today’s the first day — for a while — that I’ve had a chance to go shopping.

I think I need to do goulash: so I’m going to need mushrooms, at least.

~≈Ü≈~

Oh …

I got back unscathed from yesterday’s Restart meeting: after I got there, late.

Before it or not?   A freight train got stuck between Chelmsford and Hatfield Peveral.

At any rate … ?

My case worker’s suggested a couple of forty week courses: in IT and Business administration.

We’ll have to see what happens, there.

The possible venues are quite some distance away: and there’s a distinct possibly some of the software may be Windows only.

Even though I’d get the course for free?

I suspect there may be out-of-pocket expenses I can’t afford.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2021: The Number 15

15th March, 2021.

It’s officially the case: there was no birdsong, this morning …

At least: none that I heard!

That’s a shame: I was getting used to it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th March, 2020.

15th March, 2020.

Yes: stuff is definitely occurring.

Just so you know.

I know that — here in the UK — there’s a lot of talk about the Corona Virus, COVID 19.

Frankly?   I’m caught between being concerned for those who are ill, annoyance that my local Sainsbury’s has seriously run out of cornflakes, and thinking it’s a bloody fuss over nothing!

I’m also very aware that this year’s local elections have bee postponed until 2021: as a result of the outbreak.

Part of me … ?   Thinks that’s a big fuss, too: whilst being very aware that it’s going to help prevent the spread.

Whilst another part?   Thinks that unscrupulous politicians could permanently postpone elections.

I’ve read enough history to know about the Reichstag Fire

~≈†≈~

On the the upside: something of a personal upside, but none the less, an upside …

I ordered a copy of the soon to be released The Faceless Ones: one of the missing Dr Who stories to have been reconstructed.

It’s formally released, tomorrow.

And already been dispatched.

Given it’s been ordered from Amazon?

There’s a good chance it’ll get here, tonight …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2019: The Shrine.

15th March, 2019.

Yes: it’s sad to see it.

A shooter has visited two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

And, from what the Today Programme tells me?

A total of forty-nine people have died as a result.

I’m not religious.

But?   Have always felt that whatever works for you is fine with me.

For me, though?

Mass shootings are horrendous.

Mass shootings at a place of worship?

Of whatever religion?

Whilst people are at prayer?

Regardless of who’s doing the shooting?

There is no excuse for it.

The Man in the High Castle — Series 2 — Episode 2: The Road Less Traveled

15th March, 2018.

OK, OK … I’ll put a shirt on* …

As long as you never mention the fact I’m at home, on my own … and aren’t expecting visitors!

OK, I’ll confess: today’s been a day off: one I should have had a CT scan on.

But, for various reasons, didn’t.

Mostly, where I didn’t read the relevant letter, informing me of the basic procedure until the last minute.   Only realising, yesterday afternoon, I was supposed to have a blood test, last week: a week before the test.

Kick me, would you?

I try and do it, I’ll miss.

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

I had time off.

Time off to do stuff around the house.   Make a few videos … have some tea …

And, just as importantly … ?

Watch more TV.

Yep, you got it: more of The Man in the High Castle second season.

It’s just starting to warm up …

~≈§≈~

Episode 2 — The Road Less Travelled — shows us Inspector Kids (Joel de la Fuente) investigates the apparent shooting of Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos): apparently shot trying to escape.

In the meantime … ?   The Inspector has a problem.

Frank Frink (Rupert Evans) has seriously impressed the local Yakuza boss.

There’s a price for working for him, though …

Releasing Ed McCarthy (DJ Qualls) from the Kempetai gaol he’s held in …

Juliana, meanwhile?   Is having issues.   The films that she’s been show tell her one thing.

That the Empire?

Is going to bomb San Francisco.

Getting out seems to be just the thing.

Finding someone she can trust, like — ooh — double agent and spy, Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank)?

Is going to be tricky …

~≈§≈~

Now, I have to confess that yes: series two of The Man in the High Castle does still seem to be drifting from The original novel.

But?

I’m not sure I’m worried.

We’re getting hints of n interesting story, one headily influxnced by Dick’s book, striving to keep that sense of ambiguous realities, and identities …

And stilll being an interesting watch.

Personally?

I’m off, again, on Sunday.

I’ll be cueing up more episodes of The Man in the High Castle.

*        I want cocoa.   Cocoadammit!   It’s too cold in here!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2018: Maine Lining

15th March, 2018.

It’s true: I’ve made a major — or minor — screw up.

I’m due to have a CT scan, today: to check on the blood vessels going into my heart.

Me being the silly twit I am?   And the the kind of man who — like most of us — leaves things right until the last bloody minute?

Including reading the letter that tells me what I need to do, before I have the scan?

Yesterday?   Right at the last minute?   Just before going to work?

I re-read the letter … and realised I should have had a blood test, last week, to make sure my kidney function was ok enough to have the scan!

Whether that means the test can go ahead … ?

I’m blowed if I know.

I’m going to have to make a phone call …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-3-2017

Boy, but I feel tired!

Late night at work, I think!

What do I mean, think?

I know it was a late night.

And one of those weird ones.

Weirdish, at any rate.

Mostly where I had at least three people ask me if I was a robot.

My usual reply?

“No: I think human, I think … ”

Well, it get’s a laugh.

And, when you’re boiler’s* leaking all over the place, that helps the call along …

The Daily Teaser — 15-3-2016

Oh, ouch …

Or  possibly ‘sniffle’ …

I think we can SAFELY say that, when I head into town, later … ?

I’m going to have to pick up some Lemsip.

Or, at least, some cough mixture.

I think we can safely say I’m coming down with something …
