It’s officially officially: it’s now Saturday.

Which means that — if you’re in the UK? — that the clocks go back, overnight.

Most of mine will reset, automatically: but there’s a couple I’ll have to do manually.

My nephew, Jude, was over, yesterday: has had to confess, he’s not looking forward to a hair cut, today!

But was interested in my new sofa*, and thoroughly enjoy making a new video.

Going by a piece I’ve just seen on the BBC’s website, there’s a man who’s made a novelty Halloween costume … out of Yorkshire puddings.

26th November, 2023: Austria.

Yep: it’s official.

Yesterday was Wednesday.

I managed — happily — to get ingredients for a batch of chilli.

As I’ve got extra money on the meter, and latex gloves.

That’s made I should add: and gives me five extra meals, along side from in the freezer.

My only problem?

Is that — in all the excitement? — I completely forgot I was supposed to have a diabetic eye test in the town hall.

So I’ve rebooked it.

For Monday afternoon.

When I’m supposed to be having a COVID jab in Shenfield!

I’ll get the hang of diaries, one day!

JUST in case you’re a Dr Who fan … ?

You’re possibly aware of the upcoming 60th Anniversary specials, airing this year.

Yesterday?   The BBC announced the air dates for the three specials:

• “The Star Beast” — 25th November, 2023.
• “Wild Blue Yonder” — 2nd December, 2023.
• “The Giggle” — 9th December, 2023.

They’ll be shown on BBC One, and the iPlayer, and — internationally? — on Disney+

Ladies and gentlemen, we have dates.

And, thankfully?

Ones that make my reviews a bit easier to do: I get a week’s rest, in between each one!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-10-2022 — Essex Day.

26th October, 2022.

Right … I’ve officially done a thing: in response to other things being done!

You’re wondering what I’m talking about, aren’t you?

Basically?   Apple released the latest version of their macOS operating system — macOS 13 Ventura — on Monday, 24th October.

I’ve not yet updated to it.

Partly?

I wanted to check whether it’s compatible with my machine.

It is: I checked.   Although I suspect Ventura may be the last that works with my model.

We’ll have to see.

There’s also the other thing that stopped me.   Or, delayed me, at least?

The simple fact my main drive was short of space for the installer.

So what I’ve done, so far?

Is move my Music.app library from the main hard drive, to one of my external drives.

That bit went easily.

But lost me all my playlists!

The songs are/were there, but the playlists they were organised into, weren’t!

I’m assuming that’s because the (copied) metadata on the (copied) songs?

Was pointing the playlists at the original versions.

And that the (default) Music.app settings needed changing.

The latter I’ve changed.

All I need to do now — before I upgrade the OS — is to set up my playlist.

I’m a long time Dr Who fan: so very interested in this brief YouTube video from 15th Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa … 

You can hear the Scottish accent, can’t you?

In the way he says ‘Timelord,’ and ‘TARDIS.’

Karen Gillan pronounces it, much the same way.   And Glaswegian, John Barrowman, does something similar with the word ‘Dalek.’

There’s also this announcement of the new logo.

You have to love retro, don’t you … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-10-2021: Alfred

Right … 

Regular readers will realise I’m a bit of a Mac fan: and the I’m sitting in front of one as I write.

I’m one who’s very aware the most recent version of the Mac’s operating system, macOS Monterey, got released, yesterday.

I think I’m going to wait a few days, before installing it.

Partly?   Because there’s a few things I want to catch up with, first: including a dentist visit, today, and another episode of Lovecraft County, tonight.

But partly?

Because I’ve got to clear some room on my hard drive.

The installer’s a bit big*.

You know, Brexit’s possibly describable as a farce.

Not a satire, but a farce.

Or a chimp’s tea party: which is farcical, anyway.

But … ?

I’m starting to put my boiler into the same bracket.

My boiler was due to be repaired, last Thursday: the engineer couldn’t do anything, as it was too old.

I was due to get a supervisor out, Thursday afternoon.   Who couldn’t, as earlier jobs overran.

Lunchtime, yesterday?    The electrician out to fix my bathroom light turn up, and was done in five minutes.

Yesterday afternoon, at about 16:30?

The engineer who originally turned up, last Thursday, turned up, again: rather than the supervisor I was expecting.

Officially re-diagnosed the boiler as old, and told the office so, as they phoned him while he was here.

And told me they should be phoning me on Monday, to book up a visit from the supervisor … 

I’m … 

Yeah … 

Trying to find a decent farce …

Yep: NOW I’m worried.

It’s not a work day: but, as it’s payday?

One I’d’ve preferred to have been up on time for.

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

I forgot to turn off my alarm … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-10-2017 — Alfred the Great

There are times seriously hate my guts, I really do.

I was supposed to be working, yesterday.

Which had a stop put to it: because of a potato!

I’ve finally worked out — after chatting to a friend or two — that it’s the spray-on oil I’m using to help crisp up my baked spuds, and cook my roast spuds!

Looking back?

I think I was extremely heavy handed.

With the result I had extreme stomach cramps, all morning.

The only upside to the day?

The only upside to the day, was two fold.

I managed to catch a movie, last night.

Life isn’t necessarily the best sci-fi horror I’ve seen, but it’s well made, and watch, and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Unless that was the cramps …

The other thing I managed to do — in the afternoon, once my innards had calmed down? — was head of the Brentwood High Street.

To my opticians!

I’ve managed to get the process started, to replace my glasses.

Which they’re doing at no cost.

So, while I’ve lost a day’s pay?

The day wasn’t a complete lose …
