Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October 2025.

11th October, 2025.

It’s official: I was up early, yesterday, for very little.

I got up early, yesterday: so I could get to town early, pick up my new spectacles, and go home.

That way, if there were any problems with the thing, I’d know sooner, rather than later.

But …

They were delayed.

Delayed … !

To the point where I’m going back, today, to pick them up.

Ho … … … hum!

~≈🧐≈~

Oh … cat-food adverts … !

YouTube insists on throwing English language cat-food adverts at me.

Despite not having a cat.

The brand in question is a very swish brand that features delicious meaty chunks … in gelée.

Gelée.

Gelée, rather than jelly.

Why they insist on that, I don’t know: but it sounds utterly pretentious.

~≈😾≈~

Peace has broken out in Gaza.

Allegedly.

Dependant on many things.

It’s been heavily influenced by the US President.

Though I’m not sure I trust his motives for coming up with the plans.

Beyond telling you he want’s a Nobel Peace Prize.

Thankfully, this year’s peace prize has gone to Venezuelan opposition leader, María Corina Machado.

Personally … ?

I’m grateful it’s gone to one of the US President’s supporters, rather than the man, himself.

I suspect he’d become insufferable as a result …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October 2024.

11th October, 2024.

I’m rich: I’m rich … !

Actually … ?

No, I’m not!

But I have — finally — had the initial payment of Personal Independence Payment, the back-pay portion, through.

Granted, a chunk of that’s gone: Christmas, and some new bits and bobs, are on order.

But … ?

That’s a load of my mind!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October 2023.

11th October, 2023.

Right … it’s Wednesday.

And … ?

It’s the day after Tuesday: as you’re probably aware, that means my nephew’s posted more videos: including one of Mikey the Rabbit.

Feel free to give them a watch … !

~≈¥≈~

If you’re a Dr Who fan in the UK, you probably very aware that the complete new series has been on the iPlayer — the BBC’s catchup service — for many years.

And that classic Dr Who’s been on Britbox.

I’m usually stream to the digital copies I own, locally.

There’s upsides and downsides to online streaming: the one that annoys me is simply the fact I don’t own physical copies of the media the streamed episodes are on.

But?   I know the new series is there, should anything happen to those copies.

However, something new’s due to happen.

According to an article on the Radio Times’ website?

Both classic and new Dr Who will be shown on the BBC iPlayer, from 1st November, this year.

As will Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures and Class.

I’m glad to hear it: it makes sense to have both under one, BBC managed, roof.

The only downside?

The article doesn’t tell us how foreign fans will be able to access the classic shows: nor what will happen with the missing episodes.

Nor whether the blu-ray releases — with the associated extra content — will continue.

I hope we get to find out.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October, 2022.

11th October, 2022.

Right … it’s Tuesday.

Which means it’s the day after Monday: obviously!

Which also means that I’m due in Chelmsford, today: for a meeting with my Restart case worker.

Hopefully?

She’ll have something, job wise, that’ll work out better than the recent one.

That?

Was for an outsourcing company called Capita: one that wanted to hire me for a home working job handling customer calls for Tescos.

This, after the same outsourcing company rejected me for their job, handling calls for PlusNet.

I’d not successfully got through their checks and vetting procedure.

If I take the Capita/Tescos gig?   I’d stand a very good chance of being taken on … and then sacked after finishing the training, for failing the same checks.

Something I managed to explain to my Job Centre case worker, yesterday.   I expected problems, there: but he was surprising sympathetic.

Especially as I pointed out my Restart worker had had told me Capita were ‘… crying out for people.’

The look on his face was a picture: as both he and I knew the phrase ‘crying out for people,’ translates as ‘this company has a stupidly high staff turnover.’

We’ll just have to see what happens.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October, 2021.

11th October 2021.

Hmmm …

“Have a nice day.”

“Have a nice day … !”

I’ve just uploaded today’s Teaser video to YouTube, and realised I’ve ended it with the phrase, “Have a nice day.”

And with no sense of irony.

As I’m very aware I’m going to have a sad one.

I’m up early, today: to post this, before my Thelma’s funeral …

Hmmm …

Have a nice day …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October, 2020.

11th October, 2020.

Right …

It’s Sunday.

Which means I’m going to be a quiet day for me: that — at most — is going to involve me buying a loaf from a local shop.

Gosh, the excitement!

It also means mild annoyance.

At Blogger’s ever changing formatting.

As I started this post?

Hitting Return put one line between lines …

Adding that screen shot?   Means I have to press Return twice, my preferred option.

Is there a way of changing that in the settings?

I don’t think I’ll find out!

~≈🤨≈~

By the way, did I ever mention a series called Children of The Stones?

ITV only did one series: one that’s stayed in the memory of anyone that saw it, all those years ago.

Let’s face it, that theme tune was hard to miss!

Well …

It seems Radio 4’s done an audio version for BBC Sounds.

I might just have to check that out …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-10-2019: The Gang of Four

11th October, 2019.

right …

I’m back on the dole: to coin an old phrase.

And I’m also due to have a meeting at Brentwood’s Centre.

It’s a regular thing when you’re on either Universal Credit or Jobseeker’s Allowance: you have to report in one a fortnight.

My only problem?

Is that Brentwood’s Job Centre — which was around the corner from me — is now part of Brentwood’s Town Hall.

Half an hour’s walk away, if you’re my height: half an hour’s walk up Warley Hill.

Old Peculiar regular, Debbi Mack, will remind me Brentwood’s not as hilly as San Francisco.

But from where I’m sitting?

It’s hilly enough … !

~≈Å≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

You’ll remember we’ve talked about Christmas presents?

Including buying a new Playstation 4?

That’s now paid for: and delivered.

Not long afterwards, though … ?

Sony went and announced the release — next year, thankfully — of the Playstation 5.

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October, 2018

11th October, 2018.

I’m really starting to worry, there: I’m starting to worry I look slightly more camp in those introductory videos than I intend too.

Oy … !

At ANY rate?

And as I’ve mentioned Because We Want To*?

I’d better pass it along …

~≈§≈~

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, the job hunting is turning up a few positions: one or two of which look … interesting.

Which is possibly the best way of putting it.

It’s got to be better than last night.

We had new software installed both on the phones, and on the works computers.

The phones seem to be working well: or well enough.

But logging on to the new computer software we use to track our calls?

Well …

There could’ve been a bit more time taken to shake the bugs out, making sure the damn thing was pointed at the right internal server!

~≈§≈~

In other news?

I think I’m going to have to head for town, later: before I go to work.

The Brentwood Gazette has published a brief chat I had with Piers Meyler, their Local Democracy correspondent.

With yours truly.

I’ll have to do a clipping of the article, as it’s not online … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th October, 2017

Hmmm …

You’ve possibly worked it out: if you’re following me on Twitter.

I didn’t get the job I was after.

Which is … annoying: especially given it was very local.

I’ll survive: but it IS annoying.

~≈Â≈~

I actually made the announcement?

Just before — last night — I managed to catch a film: the interesting looking, Lights Out.

Hmmm …

It’s good: even down to the twist ending.

I’m just thinking I could have been better off, watching more episodes of House of Cards.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-10-2016

Hmmm …

That’s seemed to go well.

As you know, I’ve started my new job: yesterday, in fact.

There’s possibly a story or two, there.

The actual training … ?

Seemed to go well enough.

The only problem with the day … ?

Was the trains.

I got myself out of the house on the dot of two in the afternoon.

Plenty of time to get to the station, get the train to Shenfield, get from Shenfield to Chelmsford, and then walk from Chelmsford station to the office.

Only to get to work, half an hour late.

Because someone had killed themselves, by jumping in front of a train, at Chadwell Heath.

Now, I’m sympathetic.

I’ve suffered bouts of depression for many years.

But frankly?

That’s not the thing I wanted to hear on my first day at work!
