It’s officially official: I receive, tomorrow.

Instead of today!

I got my dates mixed up!

At any rate … ?

I’m looking forward to that.

I can do more shopping and bill paying.

I can also be quietly saddened.

I’d put in for help from the new crisis loan fund, a few weeks ago … and got the letter with the results, yesterday.

I’ve been refused: apparently, I’m “not in financial shock”.

I can … 

Well, I can do several things … 

But the only effective thing I can do is whinge!

The only other time I do that … ?   Whinge, that is … ?

Is when my building’s communal aerial goes.

And, yes: it’s gone, again!

The last time this happened was in February: the fault got fixed inside of two days.

There’s vulnerable adults in the building, so Clarion, my landlord, prioritised the repair.

This time?   When I phoned in the repair, yesterday?

I was told it could take twenty-eight days.

Twenty-eight days.

You couldn’t make it up.

Without becoming deeply cynical …

Right … I can hear whirring.

“Whirring”, you say?

Yes: whirring.

As the optical drive that currently holds a disc from the The War Game In Colour works with MakeMKV: to turn the disc’s contents into digital files.

I’m … 

Have mixed feelings about the thing.

Much like the The Daleks In Colour boxset released a few years ago,  this boxset includes the original DVD version of the story the colourised edition is a version of.

And, like The Daleks In Colour, that broadcast version is in the original 4:3, 704 × 576, resolution seen in 1966.

Like I say, I have mixed feelings about that.

Including that DVD version means I can re-rip the thing: and end up with a better quality, digital copy.

But … ?

It also means the BBC have missed the chance to upscale this original version to a 16:9 resolution that would work better on modern TVs.

Slowly but surely, goes the day.

I’ve got to get some shopping done: I know I need potatoes and bin bags.

I’ve got to finish some videos.

I’ve got to do more for that online form: whilst making sure I’m copying what I enter.   You can only go back one step, it seems: that’s bad web-design, I think.

I’ve stuff to do … before I finish off my review of the last ever episode of Star Trek Picard!

You’ve possibly — or possibly not — heard of the Confederation of British Industry, the CBI.

It’s a major lobbying group that represents assorted British businesses.

And it’s one that’s in trouble: it’s been hit by various accusations of drug taking, rape and sexual assault, over the past few weeks.

To the point where it’s suspended activities until June: when it intends to discus things at an Extraordinary General Meeting.

I … 

Well, I don’t know what to think.

But do know what to ask.

Does any other lobby group — the TUC, for example, or Greenpeace — or political party — Conservatives, or Labour, or the Liberal Democrats — have the same skeletons in their respective closets?

I’m willing to bet they do.

We just don’t know about it.

I’ve just not managed to shift I have for sale on Facebook Marketplace.   So I’m going to head for the Romford brach of CeX, and see what I can do with them.

And it has to be said, The Passenger did look rather good.

Yesterday was possibly one of them.

The country’s just elected Volodymyr Zelensky as President: a man who’s made a living as both a comedian, and playing a fictional Ukrainian president.

My sister, Ruth, and I tried installing Fortnite — the game — onto her PC, last night.

As Jude had been talking about it!

Frankly?

We couldn’t get it done.

I have to admit, I THINK that’s down to the verification email going astray.

Although I did have a look at downloading it, back at my place, when I got back home.

The bloody thing’s a 45 gigabyte file.

Forty five whole bloody gigabytes.

Blow THAT!

Quite frankly, I’ve prayed.   Which I know sounds strange, coming from a agnostic.

But frankly?

I’m in enough money troubles to … 

Well, arguably try anything once.

Even if I’m a non-believer

But ALSO … ?   I’m aware prayer can be something of a psychological tool: helping me to help myself out of a hole.

Will it work … ?

I hope so …

Right, that’s those done … 

I’m pretty sure I mentioned it: but just so you know, my speakers blew, the other day.   I’ve managed to replace them.

Although I’ll possibly replace the replacements, as and when.

Basically?

I’ve gone for a cheap pair of USB powered laptop speakers.

I’d wanted a set with a decent woofer, or bass speaker: mains powered, for preference.

Unfortunately?

The only sets they had in Wilko’s were USB powered.

At a price I felt was not one I was willing to pay.

The one’s I’ve ended up getting?

Were a tenner, very tinny, don’t have mains power … 

But at least won’t get dragged off the table if the wires get caught in something …

The Daily Teaser — 22-4-2016: Earth Day

Good lord … 

Prince has died … 

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in the 1970s and was a teen during the 1980s.

And, back then?

Back then, you couldn’t move for music released by Michael Jackson, Madonna … 

And Prince … 

I’ve never been a huge music fan.

But Prince?

If he HADN’T released something you liked, you’re possibly less of a music fan than I am.

A catalogue that extensive, was going to have something — quite literally — for everyone.

Personally … ?

I must admit to one thing that’s bothered me, about Prince’s death.

Just one.

He died at the age of 57.

57.

These days?

That’s no age, at all.

Especially when you consider that yesterday was ALSO the Queen’s 90th birthday.

THAT’S what’s bothering me.

57 — like 62, the age at which comedian, Victoria Wood, recently died of cancer — is hardly any age at all.

I know the man recently collapsed.

And have to ask … 

What on Earth killed Prince at the age of 57.

It’s not young.

But Prince has died at 57.

His prime.

What the hell happened?

I want to hear the results of that post-mortem!
