Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Series 5 Episode 1 — “Valles Marineris” — A Review

9th October, 2026: “Valles Marineris”.
The Introduction.

Well, finally: it’s Friday!

Or, at least, it was a Friday … when I started this post.

I’ve got some stuff done, today, I’ve got dinner on the go, and … ?

I’ve got time to sit in with “Valles Marineris”, the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fourth series.

As you can imagine, I’ve been keeping well clear of social media: to avoid spoilers.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to get through this series without — metaphorically — shooting myself in the foot.

And get both the written and video versions of this review done by Tuesday, 13th October.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Series 3 Episode 4 — “A Space Adventure Hour” — A Review

31st July, 2025: “A Space Adventure Hour” — The Intro.

It’s officially official.

It’s that time of week again.

The time when I sit myself down in front of a computer screen, and tell you two things.

One … ?

I’ve got a duet by Nena and Kim Wilde — “Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” — on in the background.

As the song plays?

I think to myself that Nena — in the video — looks a lot like Molly Millions: William Gibson’s iconic Neuromancer character.

As I always do.

Two?

The other thing I always tell you, is simply this.

That’s it’s Thursday, I’m doing dinner … and, once that’s eaten … ?

I’m going to be watching the next episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Then letting you know what I thought, by this Saturday.

Hopefully … ?

My banging on about 80s singers won’t have put you off … !

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Series 3 Episode 2 — “Wedding Bell Blues” — A Review

20th August, 2025: “Wedding Bell Blues” — The Intro.

Right, then: it’s officially Sunday lunchtime.

And … ?

I’m starting a post early.

Thursday gone, I caught the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds new season, and came away impressed.

It took me a while to do the written and video reviews, though.

So I’m glad I got an early start on the things!

So … ?

That’s why I’m starting this post, early: it gives me more time to write the thing!

At any rate … ?

When I started the review of “Hegemony, Pt 2”, it was Thursday: and felt muggy.

Thunderously muggy.

It’s now Sunday … and we’ve had not a jot of lightning.

I’ll be overcoming my (mild) disappointment, by watching the next episode, “Wedding Bell Blues”, tonight.

Then writing about it …

Then publishing what I’ve written, by Wednesday, 23rd July, at the latest.

Hopefully?

Both written and video reviews will be worth your time.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — Series 3 — Episode 1 — “Hegemony, Pt 2” — A Review

17th August, 2025: “Hegemony Pt 2” — The Intro.

Right: it’s a Thursday afternoon.

And the air has a muggy feel to it: the sort we point to when we say “It feels like it wants to rain!”

Or, more precisely, “It feels like it wants to thunder … !”

It’s that kind of muggy late afternoon.

The kind that makes bored people exactly what I’m doing now.

Complain about the thundery feel: and complain about the lack of a thunderstorm, one that would clear the mugginess up.

All I can do … ?

Is tell you this.

Muggy, or otherwise, thundery or otherwise … ?

I’m intent on watching TV.

And, yes: given the new, third, series of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, has been released, today … ?

I’ll be watching it, and hopefully have my review published on Saturday, 19th July.

See you then!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 10 — “Hegemony” — A Review

11th August, 2023: the Intro.

Not that I’m trying to rush myself …

But … ?

I’ve just turned down the oven!

Which possibly doesn’t make sense: unless you’re me!

At any rate … ?

And as you’ve possibly guessed, by now?

It’s a Friday: which means I’ll be having fish and chips for dinner.

Then watching the next — and last — episode of season two of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

From the very little I’m reading?

“Hegemony” could well be interesting.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 9 — “Subspace Rhapsody” — A Review

4th August, 2023: The Intro.

Right: it’s Friday, again.

It’s amazing how it crops up, once a week.

At any rate … ?

That means two or three things.

First?

That I’ve finished an up coming Teaser: for International Left Handers Day.

Speaking as a left-hander that writes quizzes?

What were you expecting me to do for 13th August?

Apart from tell my fellow southpaws to do something on the day!

Next up?

Yes: I’m doing fish and chips, again.

And finally?

Yes: I’m going to be watching the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, tonight.

I’ll be posting my review, tomorrow.

I get the impression it’s going to be very silly … … …

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 8 — “Under the Cloak of War” — A Review

28th July, 2023: The Intro.

It’s Friday.

And yes: you’ve possibly guessed a few things.

For a start, that it is a Friday.

You’ve got a calendar — on your computer, wall or phone — the same as I have.

Yes: it’s Friday.

And, once again, I’ve got fish, home made chips, and a healthy dose — dose? — of vegetables on the go.

And … ?

As you possibly might have realised — if you’ve read this morning’s Teaser post — that I’ve had new, smart, pay-as-you-go, utilities meters, put in.

Something I personally found stressful.

Especially as the old gas meter’s battery had run out.

It meant that the engineer could transfer the credit from my electricity meter … but not from the gas meter.

As he could read it!

Oh, well: we’ll have to see how that goes.

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday …

Which means that, once I’ve had dinner … ?

I’ll be watching “Under the Cloak of War”, the next episode of Star Trek Strange New World, tonight.

And telling you about it, tomorrow.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 7 — “Those Old Scientists” — A Review

23rd July, 2023: the Intro.

Yes: it’s Sunday.

You know that as well as I do.

And … ?

Frankly, I’ve done my usual thing of having Sunday dinner with my family.

And … ?

Gone into something of a scheduling panic.

As Paramount+ have released “Those Old Scientists” yesterday: rather than this coming Thursday!

Quite why, I don’t know.

At any rate?

I’m at home early on a Sunday evening: and intent on watching “Those Old Scientists” with a nice cup of tea, and a metaphorical bun.

Here’s hoping the unexpected shift works for me!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 6 — “Lost in Translation” — A Review.

Friday, 21st July, 2023: the Introduction.

Yes: it’s official.

It’s been payday.

So … ?

Frankly, I’ve been tempted to treat myself to fish and chips.

You know, walk up to the nearest chippy, get cod and chips, then head home, and eat.

It would be nice.

But let’s be honest: it’s not the best way of keeping hold of any cash for the rest of the month!

So … ?

I’m doing my own dinner, thanking you: fish … and homemade chips.

On — as you’ve possibly noticed — a Friday.

Which means … ?

For one thing, I’m going to eat.

For another?

I’m going to be watching “Lost in Translation”, the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds: and telling you what I though about it, tomorrow.

That’s when this gets published!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 5 — “Charades” — A Review

14th July, 2023: an Introduction.

Wouldn’t you know it?

It’s Friday … again!

Which means, yes;

I’m cremating fish and chips.

The weather’s completely different from what it was.

And an old friend has posted a video …

At any rate … ?

I’ll be watching that video whilst I eat: then watching “Charades”, the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, once I’m done with that!

I’ll let you know about “Charades”, tomorrow!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds S02 E03 — “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” — A Review

30th June, 2023: “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”.

Yes: it IS Friday.

And?

Yes: I’m doing fish and chips, again.

And wondering what on Earth inspired Adriano Celentano to write and perform Prisencolinensinainciusol.

Quite what that’s about, I don’t know.

But?

It’s catchy.

~≈🖖≈~

At any rate?

It’s Friday, I’m going to be having dinner …

And, if you’re reading this when it’s published?

You’ve possibly skipped ahead to the review of the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

I hope you enjoy it!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds S02 E02 — “Ad Astra Per Aspera” — A Review

23rd June, 2023:  “Ad Astra Per Aspera”.

It’s got to be said, payday can be frantic.

OK, granted, I got into town early: for a diabetic foot check.

Which went well enough.

But the rest of the day’s gone … iffyly!

I’ll probably tell you more in the morning!

At any rate … ?

I’m going have dinner, whilst watching an old friend’s video about Judge Dredd.

Then … ?

Watching “Ad Astra Per Aspera”, the next epidote of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

I’ll let you know more, tomorrow!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Series 2 Episode 1 — “The Broken Circle” — A Review

16th June, 2023: “The Broken Circle”.

Right …

At the moment, I’m … I think the polite phrase is ‘twatted off’!

Yes: twatted off seems to describe it!

YouTube took forever to upload that introduction video!

Two initial attempts …

Then a third, when I realised what I’d done wrong!

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday: the day after the first episode of Star Trek Strange New World’s second series, aired.

And?

I’m keen to have dinner, make a nice cup of tea …

Then watch the opening episode.

Yes: it’s called “The Broken Circle”.

And it sounds like there’s a drinking contest going on …

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 10 — A Quality of Mercy — A Review.

25th November, 2022

Is it me … or is it amazing how fast time goes?

It’s possibly not just me, is it?

After all, it only seems like last week that it was a Friday … and that I was telling I would be watching an episode of …

Yeah: OK.

It’s Friday, again!   And, yet again, I’m going to be watching an episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds: it’s A Quality of Mercy, the last one of the first series, so you know.

And, of course, I’ll be watching, once I’ve had dinner.

I’ll be posting my reviews, tomorrow night!

I’ll see you then!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 9 — All Those Who Wander — A Review

18th November, 2022.

As I write … ?

A civilised man is sitting in a chair, waiting for vegetables to boil.

Rather than trying to kill me!

Yes: it’s Friday.

And?   I’m cooking dinner.

And, once I’ve had that?

I’m going to be watching another episode of the very enjoyable Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

And will have this written review done, late on the 19th November.

I’m looking forward hearing what you think of what I thought.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 8 — The Elysian Kingdom — A Review

11th November, 2022.

Right … it’s Friday.

And?

I can safely say vegetables are boiling, chips are doing, and some fish is being baked in the oven.

Wikipedia … ?   Tells me the reason we have it on a Friday, is that the Roman Catholic Church forbade eating red meat on a Friday.

Which explains that.

WHY they did that?   And Orthodox Churches forbade it — and sex — on a Friday?

I really don’t know.

I’m assuming it’s for religious reasons: they are churches, after all.

What those are?

I’m blowed if I know!

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday: which means … ?

I’ll be watching the next episode Star Trek Strange New Worlds: and posting my review, tomorrow.

Will The Elysian Kingdom be as good as Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach?

I’ll let you know, tomorrow.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 7 — The Serene Squall — A Review

4th November, 2022.

Right … I’m writing this — as I have done for the past few weeks — on a late Friday afternoon.

Or possibly an early evening.

Whatever it is at 17·30 in November.

Dinner — fish and chips, again! — is on the proverbial go.

After that … ?

Frankly, after that, I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing of the past few weeks.

I’ll be watching The Serene Squall: the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

I hope you care to join me for the thing.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 6 — Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach — A Review

28th October, 2022.

Yes: it’s Friday, again.

I like a Friday, I really do.

It means fish and chips: which doesn’t get boring, funnily.

Even if I still can’t tell you why we’re supposed to eat them!

Occasionally?   I’ll iron shirts.

On a Friday … or whenever else I need to do them.

I have no interviews due, granted.

But also had no shirts: I want some at hand.

But I’m digressing.

It’s Friday.

So?

As I’ve been doing for the past few weeks, I’m going to have dinner.

Then?

Watch the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds: the pretentious sounding Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 5 — Spock Amok — A Review

21st October, 2022.

Right, than … it’s Friday.

And … ?

I’ll be brutally frank, I’m looking forward to fish and chips.

It’s Friday: and why we’re supposed to eat them?

I couldn’t tell you.

Just that it’s something I’ve done for some time.

Something else I’ve been doing … ?

Is watching TV.

The past few weeks has seen me watching the first series of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.   Then posting my review, the following night.

I’ll be doing that with the fifth episode of the series: Spock Amok.

Given most Star Trek fans will be able to tell you exactly when the LAST time the word ‘Amok’ turned up in a Star Trek title?

I’m betting I know where it’s (partially) going to be set.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 4 — Memento Mori — A Review

14th October, 2022.

Right at the moment?

The news is on in the background: and Liz Truss — calling her Prime Minister seems wrong, given how she’s doing — is droning on in a repeat of the shortest PM’s Press Conference I’ve ever seen.

That repeat?   Will soon be over.

That means I can have something else on.

I’m looking forward to that.

After catching Hellraiser, last week?

I’m going to be watching another episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, tonight.

Memento Mori, the fourth episode.

I’ll have my written and video reviews up, tomorrow night: I’ll see you then.

~≈🖖≈~
