Yes: it’s official.

I’ve done the test.

Basically?

I had to pick up a piece of kick from Basildon Hospital: a thing called an oximeter, if I’ve got the name right.

You have to wrap the watch like thing around your wrist overnight, whilst wearing the attached thimble on your finger.

The idea is to check your blood oxygen levels, over night.

Hopefully?

I hope I’ve carried it out, correctly.

I’d hate to have to do it again … 

As I’d have to go back to Basildon, twice … 

Again!

I’ve just seen the stats for the new MacPro.

Twenty-eight cores?

Wheels?

Ye GODS, I want one!

Event Horizon — Still DAMN good!

You know, I’ve — currently — got some free time on the go, right now.

I’m not complaining.

Really.

It lets me get on with some stuff I want to do: writing, mostly, but a little shopping, as well.

Including a blu-ray.

Now, you’re going to be thinking two things, aren’t you?

Why on earth didn’t you just rent the film from iTunes, as you usually do?   

Well, frankly, I didn’t have enough credit in my iTunes account.

And frankly?   Some of the specials that came with the disc look impressive.

OK, that’s maybe not an excuse to go seeing Event Horizon again.

But when a film’s this good, I want every excuse I can.

Howl: The Return of the Little Indie Direct to Video Brit Flick

OK, I think I’ve had a little success, today.

Really.

Remember I told you — a few days ago, now — I was trying to sell off my sister’s old laptop?

I managed to do so, today.

Picking up a tidy sum, in return.

My sister, Ruth, got her share: I got a fish supper and a movie.

Didn’t I just … ?

The film in question?   Was the straight to video 2015, Paul Hyett directed, Neil Marshall penned, Howl.

And ‘straight to video’ … ?   Isn’t necessarily bad.

Hmmm … 

Did I tell you I’m something of a fan of the TV eerie, Gotham?

You’ve possibly worked that out.

Something that’s annoyed me is the simple fact that the US tv channel that makes it has put on a mid season break.

Which annoys the life out of me.

However … ?

I did notice a tweet go past on my timeline: from actor, Sean Pertwee, who plays Alfred in the series.   This one …

Dog Soldiers: Blood, Guts and Tug Toys

Can I make a confession, here … ?

Can I … ?

Something I’ve noticed over the years is a little rule of story-telling, especially in things like horror films: and one or two Agatha Christie novels, now I think of it.

It’s quite a simple one, really: and goes a bit like this: anyone who’s in an isolated area seems to be easily subjected to fear and terror.

Certainly, some of the scarier episodes of Dr Who seem to use it: even if that isolated area is in central London.

And Agatha used it — most notably — in And Then There Were None.

But it’s ALSO something that got used in a film I managed to sit down down and watch, last night.

The 2002, Neil Marshall film, Dog Soldiers.

And my word, it’s fun … !

Dog Soldiers sees Sean Pertwee as Sergeant Wells, leading a small squad of troops into the Scottish highlands: as part of a training exercise against a squad of SAS men.

What he and his squad aren’t expecting … ?

Is the fact that the part of the Highlands they’re in … is a touch wilder than most: and seems to have something of a pest problem.

Now, I have to admit, Dog Soldiers is the first of Neil Marshall’s films I saw, many moons ago.

And I have to admit, I’ve see one or two, since and thoroughly enjoyed them.

So the fact, last night, I decided to go back to source to see the FIRST film of his I’d ever caught … ?   Just reminded me of how much fun it was.

My suggestion … ?

Event Horizon: Terror In Deep Space

 I’ll admit it!

 I’m a film fan.

And, while I’ve not recently had company for a film or two, I’ll also admit that, sometimes, that mean’s digging up a film I’ve not seen in years.

Purely because no-one’s around to complain, or suggest an alternative.

To be frank … ?

That was the case, tonight.

Nobody else around … 

So I managed to dig up a film that’s something of an old favourite: the 1997 piece that is Event Horizon …
