Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December 2025.

22nd December, 2025.

OK: I’ll admit it!

I’ve got an earworm, lurking around again!

Joy Sarney’s “Naughty, Naughty, Naughty”, before you ask.

I wish I knew why: I’ve only ever seen a Punch and Judy show, once!

~≈👊≈~

Hmmm …

The thought occurs: that it’s almost Christmas, and almost pay day, as well.

And … ?

I’ll be able to sort out my bills when that happens.

And sort out one last roll of wrapping paper.

For the one present that managed to turn up late!

There’s always that one Amazon delivery … !

~≈🎁≈~

Which reminds me … I have my usual diabetic review, on Wednesday: which I think will include my annual foot check.

Yes: I’d’ve got it out of the way.

But … ?

It’s at 10·10 in the morning.

Yes: I’m going to be up early … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December 2024

22nd December, 2024.

Hmmm …

I’ve got a neighbour who’s very nice.

But … ?

Just contacted me … to ask if I can buy them some beer!

Given the time I’m writing this … ?

I think someone’s got a problem!

Nik Nak's Daily Teaser — 22nd December 2023

22nd December, 2023.

This is not a day for things to be acting up!

As you're possibly aware?

I'm due to pick up my main computer -- a 2017 21.5" iMac -- from a repair shop in Shenfield, today.

In the hope that it's;
  • Repairable.
  • Repaired.
  • Working.
  • Cheap!
Frankly?

I'm definitely anxious about the situation!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December 2022.

22nd December, 2022.

Right … it’s officially Thursday: and frankly?

The day before day day.

Tomorrow is going to be frantic: paying bills, shopping, and bits and bobs!

In contrast to today … where I’m going to making videos … and having a phone appointment with a physio therapist.

Heigh ho!

You’re probably aware I’m on a pay-as-you-go meter for my gas and electricity, aren’t you?

I’m on a pay-as-you-go meter for my gas and electricity: so you know.

And?

The voucher I — and many others — receive, that help with the costs was late, this month.

As far as I can tell?   The mix of the cold snap, and postal strikes, delayed things.

Confirmation of that?   Came through, this morning: with this piece on the BBC’s news site.

Frankly?

I wasn’t surprised.

And suspect that many in my shoes will thinking the same sort of things I am.

The sooner both sides in these disputes make a deal, the better.

Do you have a Netflix subscription?

You may or may not.

You may or may not know that some people are happy to share their login details with friends and family: effectively letting others share their subscription.

Person A has a subscription: which they share with person B.

Netflix don’t like it: but seem to be doing little about it.

In a move that may help?

The UK’s government has recently announced that password aharing in cases like this, is possibly illegal.

Presumably?   On the basis that Person A is paying for licensed content: but Person B isn’t.

Personally?

I can’t help but put this sort of password sharing on a moral par with loaning a friend a book, or a DVD*.

Nothing to worry about.

Especially as Netflix themselves seem — in a five year old Tweet — to endorse it.

I’m also very aware that a ‘moral’ right … is not the same as a ‘legal’ right.

And that loaning a physical object is not the same as password sharing.

Frankly?

I think this is something to keep an eye on.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December, 2021

22nd December, 2021.

You know … I was planning on watching a movie, last night.

But never actually got around to it.

I’ll possibly try and catch one, tonight: after all, I’ve been watching to watch No Time To Die for some time.

At ANY rate … ?

I got distracted.

Bless ’em, my Mum and my sister, Ruth — thanking you both, by the way — put a few quid in my bank account.

Which unfortunately got caught up in my bank’s transfer issues: for some reason, money going into and out of Nationwide accounts was delayed.

Why they were delayed, I don’t know: I’ve heard talk the company had shifted their cloud storage from one provider to another.

But it did put an emotional crimp in things.

~≈Ç≈~

At any rate?   Now the system seems to be working, again … ?

I can do a little shopping.

Once I’ve done my exercises … and had another visit from my landlord’s pest controller.

I hope he get’s here good and early, I’d like to get that shopping done.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December, 2020

22nd December, 2020

Yes: I had a ’Flu jab on Saturday.

And, it has to be said … I feel lovely.

For a given value of lovely, obviously!

Tired, achey, a mild headache.

And an upper right arm that feels like its been stabbed.

Which it has, obviously!

Yes.

I realise it could be worse.

I could have the real flu … !

Nevertheless?

Bleugh … !

I’m assuming you like the occasional movie?

You, like me, will be aware Warner Brothers is planning a dual release for many of its COVID delayed films, in 2021.

In as many cinemas as possible, and on US streaming service, HBO Max.

Warner Brothers will give Wonder Woman 1984 just such a joint US release on 25th December, this year.

And gave it a theatrical release to the rest of us.

Despite being critically acclaimed, it seems Wonder Woman 1984 is not doing as well as expected.

I think Warner Brother has possibly made a mistake.

Not in the dual release in the US: the size of the US market means a dual release should make some cash.

I think Warner’s mistake is in not dual releasing the film in the rest of the world.

I know arranging the licensing rights is a legal minefield.

But not doing that?

Well … we can see what’s happening.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-12-2019: Solstice

22nd December, 2019.

Yep: it’s Sunday.

A quiet Sunday … where I’m betting the shops are going to be jammed.

And the streets extremely damp.

Right at the moment … ?

At the moment, south east England isn’t having a heat wave or wildfires.

Quite the reverse.

~≈Œ≈~

Can I make a confession … ?

I’m in one or two Terry Pratchett groups, over on Facebook.

And, inevitably — as we’re talking about J. K. Rowling’s comment about transgender women — we get … language.

No, not THAT kind of language.

We get meaningless acronyms.   Or, at least, acronyms we’ve never heard before, and would appreciate an explanation of.

The one that got me bothered?   TERF.   Apparently, it’s stands for Trans-Exclusionary-Radical-Feminist.

Granted, I realise that text messaging by phone encourages acronyms.

As do character restricted services like Twitter.

But … ?

On something like Facebook, or in a news article, essay, or even in a blog post, like this?

I’d appreciate an explanation of whatever it is you’re talking about.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December, 2018

22nd, December, 2018.

I’m right, aren’t I … ?

There is, indeed, stuff happening.

Usually excrement …

But occasionally more positive stuff.

The one bit of positive stuff that will interest people?

Is that two people have been arrested in connection with the Drone Incident* at Gatwick Airport.

Here’s hoping they get seriously prosecuted …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd December, 2017.

That’s a thought …

Have you seen this lot … ?

That’s every Teaser I’ve done for the 22nd December.

Notice something?

No themed Teasers!

I’m blowed if I know why I’ve not managed to do a themed set for the day …

But I haven’t …

Weird!

How many ill people are there in China?

Because I was at work last night: at a call centre in Chelmsford, that takes calls for (mostly) social landlords.

We ALSO take out of hours calls for the Greater London Authority.

Usually, we get journalists phoning up to get a quote from the Mayor, or various bodies on the Greater London Assembly: we give they details

More rarely, we get the Metropolitan Police phoning up, with pass on details of security issues.

More commonly?   We get people phoning to ask about tickets for the New Year’s fireworks display.   Who get directed to the website.

Every so often, the GLA phone gets real oddities.

Last night, I got one of them.

From a woman in China.   Phoning up at what must have been quite an early time in the morning, Beijing time.

And who asked me, quite politely and in all seriousness, to ask the Royal family to turn off their telescope.

It was making her flat smell.

I manage to persuade her to ring off, and contact her local authorities.

I’m assuming the poor woman had mental health issues of some sort.

Even so … that was an odd one …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-12-2016

Yay!

Another day off!

Which means, of course, that I’ll be happily doing …

Well …

Stuff.

Frankly?

I’ve sent cards out already: and started getting some back.

I’ve got presents wrapped: and handed to Santa for delivery.

Or Grandma, as Santa’s also known.

 Frankly … ?

That’s one less worry.

All I have to do?

Is sit around waiting for the loot to turn up.

Sorry.

For the Big Day to Arrive.

Ahem!
