For All Mankind — Series 5 Episode 4 — “Open Source” — A Review

27th July, 2026.
“Open Source”.
The Introduction.

OK: it’s Monday night … and … ?

I’m filling in time, in a way.

I’ve started For All Mankind’s fifth season, a few weeks ago: and enjoying it, so far.

But … ?

I’d like to get this review done by Wednesday … but very aware I’ll be looking after my nephew, that day … so I’m getting started early.

Hopefully?

I’ll have this done by Friday: and I can let you know what I though of the episode …

The War Between the Land and the Sea — Episode 4 “The Witch of the Waterfall” — A Review

14th December, 2025: “The Witch of the Waterfall”.
An Introduction.

It’s not often I duplicate posts: at least, not often I use the opening of one post as the opening of another.

Except it’s something I did, last week: when writing my introduction to my reviews of the first two episodes of The War Between the Land and the Sea.

And it’s something I’ve repeated with this week’s episodes.

Sue me!

Additionally?

It’s not often I complain about Apple.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m something of a Mac fan: I’m writing this on a 2024 Mac mini, using macOS Tahoe 26.2, and Safari 26.2, to write this post.

I had problems, updating to the new versions, last Thursday: when, after the update to 26.2, my browser would not stay logged into my usual websites, after switching the thing on in the morning.

Then would sign me out when I switched it off.

As you can imagine?

It was very frustrating.

Contacting various people proved little help: including Apple’s community forums.

So?

I contacted Apple’s Support line.

Where an extremely helpful young person managed to diagnose the issue.

All I had to do, it seems, was make a small change to Safari’s preferences: turning off the cross-site tracking option in Safari>Settings>Privacy.

That seems to have solved the problem, for now: although I don’t know what long term issues may happen as a result.

I hope they’re minimal.

But I’m also aware I had that box checked for several years: with no problems.

Why it’s happened with this update?

I don’t know!

~≈🧜🏼‍♂️≈~

My problems aren’t why you’re here.

You’re possibly here out of curiosity, boredom, or a random social media post.

So, if you’re a newcomer to Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar, I’ll have to repeat what I’ve said in earlier posts.

In other words, say “Welcome aboard”, tell you I write the Daily Teaser quiz, and about films and TV shows I’ve watched.

One of those shows?   Is the Dr Who spin-off, The War Between the Land and the Sea.

I saw the first episodes, “Homo Aqua”, and “Plastic Apocalypse”, last week, and caught the third episode, “The Deep”, last Sunday.

This post?

Is about the fourth episode, “The Witch of the Waterfall”.

Yes: I’ve started this post, early.

But?

It’s Christmas.

It’s busy!

And the weather is acting up.

Let’s move onto the review, shall we … ?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Series 3 Episode 4 — “A Space Adventure Hour” — A Review

31st July, 2025: “A Space Adventure Hour” — The Intro.

It’s officially official.

It’s that time of week again.

The time when I sit myself down in front of a computer screen, and tell you two things.

One … ?

I’ve got a duet by Nena and Kim Wilde — “Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” — on in the background.

As the song plays?

I think to myself that Nena — in the video — looks a lot like Molly Millions: William Gibson’s iconic Neuromancer character.

As I always do.

Two?

The other thing I always tell you, is simply this.

That’s it’s Thursday, I’m doing dinner … and, once that’s eaten … ?

I’m going to be watching the next episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Then letting you know what I thought, by this Saturday.

Hopefully … ?

My banging on about 80s singers won’t have put you off … !

Doctor Who — Series 15/Season 2 - Episode 4 — “Lucky Day” — A Review

*Spoilers*

2nd May, 2025: “Lucky Day”.

It’s officially official: it’s late on a Friday night, it’s starting to get summery …

And … ?

I’ve got videos being exported as we speak … and a copy of Propaganda’s A Secret Wish on in the background.

They, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and the initial lineup of the Art of Noise were the earliest acts on the ZTT label.

And … ?

I think Propaganda got the short end of the stick, success wise.

But at least the albums are still available: even if the bands, and the label they were on, are long gone.

~≈𝄞≈~

At any rate?

It’s late on a Friday night … and … ?

I’m getting my review of “Lucky Day” started, today.

Although, by the time you read this … ?

Or watch the video equivalent?

It should be 4th May, at the latest.

Doctor Who — The Savages — Episode 4 — A Review

16th April, 2025: Doctor WhoThe Savages.

Right …

It’s officially a Wednesday evening.

And … ?

I’ve been bored enough to give my microwave a once over.

One of these days … ?

I’ll defrost my fridge … and possibly mop the kitchen floor.

Possibly … !

~≈👨‍⚕️≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s a Wednesday evening.

And, rather than risk skin cancer in the sunshine?

I’m going to spend the evening in: watching vintage TV.

Or, at least, the last episode of the reanimated, classic, Dr Who story, The Savages.

I’m writing this on the 16th April, 2025: and should have it, and its video equivalent, up and posted by the 17th April.

I will hopefully see you tomorrow … !

Doctor Who — The Savages — Episode 1 — A Review

26th March, 2025: Doctor Who — The Savages.

Yes: it’s officially official.

It’s a Wednesday.

And … ?

I seem to have a lot of time on my hands.

But you knew that: if you’ve been following both my blog, and my YouTube channel, for a while.

So … ?

What with one review after another?

I’ve been trying to keep myself busy.

To the point I’ve bought something from Amazon.

Yes: I’ve now own Scream of the Shalka: and will watch that at some point.

But, before I go near that … ?

I’ve also — as you’ve noticed — got a copy of the classic Dr Who story, The Savages: the most recently released re-animated story and the last to feature Peter Purves as Steven Taylor.

Frankly?

I’ve been looking forward to this for a while …

Doctor Who — The Celestial Toymaker — Episode 4 — “The Final Test” — A Review

27th September, 2024: the announcement!

Yes: it’s that time of the week, again: it’s Friday.

And, frankly?

Well, if you’d read this morning’s Teaser, you’d realise I’ve had some interesting news.

Possibly, I’ve picked up some extra financial help.

I’m not going to count my chickens before their hatched: but extra money is always welcome.

I need a new mattress, if nothing else.

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday: so dinner is being done, while I polish my notes off for “The Final Test”.

And gently cook a piece of cod.

By the time you read this?

It’ll be …

Doctor Who — Series 14/Season 4 - Episode 4 — “73 Yards” — A Review

25th May, 2024: the announcement.

Right then …

It’s officially Saturday.

Which means that, tonight … ?

I’m going to be watching Dr Who’s next episode — “73 Yards” — then … ?

Telling you what I thought.

I’ll catch you later!

Star Trek Discovery — Series 5 Episode 4 — “Face the Strange” — A Review

18th April, 2024: an announcement.

It’s officially official.

I’ve spent most of this afternoon explaining Dune to one old friend: and Handbrake settings to another.

Heigh ho!

At any rate … ?

I have the evening free: and dinner is cooking.

And, once that’s done?

I’ll be watching “Face the Strange”: the fourth episode of Star Trek Discovery’s last season.

By the time you read this … ?

My review will be published … !

Doctor Who — The Underwater Menace — Episode 4 — A Review

25th February, 2024: the Introduction.

Yes: it’s Sunday afternoon.

And … ?

Frankly, I’m going to be having dinner with my family.

It’s something of a tradition.

Once I get back … ?

And dealt with the interest in the laptop I’m trying to sell … ?

I’ll be watching the last episode of classic Dr Who story, The Underwater Menace.

I’ll have my reviews up, tomorrow!

~≈📺≈~

For All Mankind — Series 4 Episode 4 — “House Divided” — A Review

4th December, 2023: the Introduction.

Right … it’s now officially Monday!

In case you hadn’t guessed.

And?

Yes: that means potatoes are being boiled … and dinner prepared.

And possibly another video or two, being cut.

At any rate: it’s Monday, and I’m going to be watching “House Divided”: the next episode of For All Mankind.

By the time you’re reading this?

It’s be the 5th December: hopefully, you’ll be enjoying my review!

~≈🚀≈~

Saturday, 16 September 2023

Good Omens Series 2 Episode 4 — “The Hitchhiker” — A Review

15th September, 2023: the Introduction.

Right …

It’s officially Friday.

And … ?

Potatoes have just been chopped up: then boiled … and shoved into the oven.

Fridays, for the past few months have taken a vague form.

Make and eat dinner.

Watching a video whilst having dinner: and old friend is doing some interesting stuff about Judge Dredd.

Then … ?

Once I’ve eaten, washed up, cleaned my teeth, done the hoovering, conquered the world, and ensured a meaningful peace in the Middle East … ?

Or, at least, washed up … ?

I’ll be watching the next episode of Good Omens’ second series: and telling you about it tomorrow night.

I’ll be back, then!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — S02 E04 — “Among the Lotus Eaters” — A Review

7th July, 2023: “Among the Lotus Eaters”.

Yes: it’s Friday, again.

And … ?

I’m grateful I’ve got food in the fridge-freezer.

Life on benefits is not exactly what you call load with cash.

So?

Why we’re supposed too eat fish and chips on Friday isn’t as important as the fact I’ve got some.

I have to admit to a certain amount of envy, though.

My building’s had a few Uber deliveries!

Heigh ho!

~≈🖖≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday: and dinner’s almost ready.

Which means that, once that’s done … ?

I’m going to watch “Among the Lotus Eaters”, the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

And?

Letting you know what I thought, once I post my reviews of it, tomorrow night.

You’re going to be reading this piece, then.

So, to quote the old phrase … ?

Now read on …

The Mandalorian — Series 3 Episode 4 — Chapter 20 The Foundling — A Review

19th June, 2023: “The Foundling”.

Right … I’m typing this with a certain sense of urgency.

Frankly … ?

Dinner is cooking: and I’d rather my veggies didn’t boil over!

Or the instant mash, come to think of it.

At any rate?

It’s Monday, I’m feeling rushed and hungry …

But?

Once dinner’s done, and eaten?   Will be coming up for air, to watch the next episode of The Mandalorian.

Given the scenes we saw in an earlier episode?

I wonder who that foundling could be?

You’ll find out when I post my completed reviews: tomorrow night.

I’ll be back, then!

Star Trek Picard — Series 3 Episode 4 — No Win Scenario — A Review

10th March, 2023: ‘No Win Scenario’*.

It has to be said: life, sometimes, is full of mysteries.

Yes: it’s Friday

Yes: I’m preparing dinner.

And yes: I’ll be watching the next episode of Star Trek Picard, tonight

And — as a fourth yes? — I’m having fish and chips.

I’m still clueless as to why we’re supposed to have fish.

Except it ties into when the UK — or England, at least — was once a Catholic country.

Basically?

‘A bunch of bishops said so’.

Heigh ho!

~≈🖖≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Friday night, I’m going to watching ‘No Win Scenario’, the next episode of Star Trek Picard’s last season.

I’ll have my reviews up, tomorrow night.

You can find out what I though of it …

Tomorrow night!

For All Mankind — Series 3 Episode 4 — Happy Valley — A Review

26th February, 2023: ‘Happy Valley.’

Yes!

It’s Sunday night!

And, frankly?

I’ve just had dinner.

You’d possibly guessed that, by now!

You’ve possibly also guessed what I’m going to tell you next.

Yes: as I’ve been doing for for the past few weeks, I’m going to be settling in with the next episode of For All Mankind’s third series.

Judging by the various bits of blurb that I’ve scrupulously avoided?

It sounds like a good episode.

~≈🚀≈~

Doctor Who — The Crusade Episode 4 — The Warlords — A Review

10th February, 2023: The Warlord.

Right … it’s now Friday.

And I feel vaguely happy.

My YouTube channel seems to have gained an extra channel: it’s now on one thousand, one hundred and seventy subscribers.

Thank you, whoever you are!

You’ve just made my afternoon!

~≈💊≈~

Making my afternoon is one thing.

Making dinner, though?

Is something else: and something I’m going now.

Fish is in that oven, home made chips are getting burnt … and vegetables being boiled.

And … ?

As soon as I’ve scrapped the burnt bits off, and eaten it, I’ll be watching The Warlords: the last episode of classic Dr Who series, The Crusade.

I’ll have my written — and video — review of it up, tomorrow night.

I’ll see you then.

Doctor Who — The Abominable Snowmen — Episode 4 — A Review

28th September, 2022.

I have officially had too much pizza.

It’s Monday: at a time I’m usually cooking my own dinner.

But?

I’ve had my nephew, Jude, over: and we’ve edited — and posted — the new trailer for his YouTube channel.

And had — yes, you’re right — pizza.

That’s what happens when you spend time a an eleven year old who grew up glued to anything with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in it!

At any rate?

Channel trailer posted, pizza (me) and chicken strips (him) eaten, and nephew safely heading home with Grandma?

That now means I have the rest of the evening to myself.

And can settle in with a nice cup of tea, a sneaky chocolate bar — trust me, I’m diabetic, I do try and keep them to a minimum! — and the next episode of a TV show I’m watching.

Yes: that’s right.

I’m going to follow up the first three episodes of The Abominable Snowmen … by watching episode four.

I will, of course, have my reviews of the episode — both written and video — posted tomorrow night.

I’ll see you then*.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 4 — Memento Mori — A Review

14th October, 2022.

Right at the moment?

The news is on in the background: and Liz Truss — calling her Prime Minister seems wrong, given how she’s doing — is droning on in a repeat of the shortest PM’s Press Conference I’ve ever seen.

That repeat?   Will soon be over.

That means I can have something else on.

I’m looking forward to that.

After catching Hellraiser, last week?

I’m going to be watching another episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, tonight.

Memento Mori, the fourth episode.

I’ll have my written and video reviews up, tomorrow night: I’ll see you then.

~≈🖖≈~

Star Trek Picard — Series 2 Episode 4 — Watcher — A Review

15th July, 2022.

Did I say Friday nights are a good night to boil vegetables?

Friday’s a good night to boil vegetables.

Especially is — like me — you like having dinner, occasionally.

At any rate … ?

It’s another Friday night: one with dinner …

And the fourth episode of Star Trek Picard’s second series.

Once I’ve watched Watcher?

I’ll be telling you about it: tomorrow night.

~≈🖖≈~
