The Daily Teaser — 25-11-2015

You know, I keep telling my Mum to get a Mac.

Mostly on the basis I think it’s a better user experience.

But ALSO because I’ve noticed that OS X — the operating system on a Mac — is a touch more secure.

Yesterday … ?   It turns out there’s a security issue with PCs made by Dell.

Which, curiously, is the brand of laptop my Mum owns.   Grant it’s an older one, that’s POSSIBLY not affected by the issue — the BBC report doesn’t say which version of Windows the problem affects — but it’s probably worth checking out*.

Just to be on the safe side.

Scam, scam, Scam, scam …

You know, over the years, I’ve written about technology.

Admittedly, not much: as, non-professional that I am, there’s little I can say, beyond ‘Oh, look what I can do.’

Or, ‘Wow, look what I got!’

Oh, and ‘Look out for this lot …’

Frankly … ?

That’s something I’ve not done for a while: but think I now should.

The Daily Teaser — 12-8-14: The Personal Computer

Oh, now that’s sad: that is really, really sad.

Robin Williams* — actor, comedian and so much more — has lost the fight with his demons.

He’s been found dead, overnight, at his home in California: apparently a suicide, and — from what initial reports are saying — from asphyxiation.

After having struggling with depression, and bipolarity, for many years.

I never knew the guy, but always enjoyed his work: from Mork and Mindy, to Aladdin, to Patch Adams, to Mrs Doubtfire, to Bicentennial Man.

I feel …

Well …

I think the world’s lost a friend today: we’ve lost  a man who brightened our lives, by making us laugh, but who could never conquer his own demons.

Nanu, Nanu, Robin Williams.

Rest in Peace.
