Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd November 2025

22nd November, 2025.

It’s officially official … I’ve paid my bills … !

Well … all bar the gas bill: and that I can get done, today.

Strangely, though … ?

I’m grateful it’s rain, out: that I’m going to get wet, heading out to pay the thing.

As, going by the predictions for my area … ?

It’s going to be warmer than it was, yesterday!

~≈☔️≈~

Coins … … …

I have coins.

Which you’d possibly guessed.

But the weird thing … ?

Is that it’s only now — some years after his coronation, and after notes and coins with the King’s face on them started circulating — that I’ve received Charles 3rd coins in my change.

Yes, I know.

That’s not exactly note-worthy.

But … ?

It struck me as mildly coincidental that I have £1·05 worth of the things.

In other words, cash equivalent to an old English coin called a guinea, worth twenty-one shillings back then …

And £1·05, now.

The reason it struck me as significant?

Is race horses are usually auctioned in guineas*, even now.

And the King, much like his late mother, is a bit of a one for the gee gees …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2024 — Lebanon

22nd November, 2024: Lebanon.

Right … it’s officially pay day.

And, of course … I’m going to be paying bills and shopping.

About the only thing putting me off … ?

Is the simple fact the BBC’s weather page is telling me Brentwood is facing single figure temperatures.

All together, now, folks:

 Ho-HUM … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2023 — Cairo

22nd November, 2023: Cairo.

Yes!   It’s Wednesday.

And?

I’m expecting a visit from a plumber: to have a look at my bath.

Expecting … but — given it’s my landlord we’re talking about? — also not expecting!

They can be funny like that … !

~≈Ï≈~

At any rate … ?

Yes: I have caught another episode of For All Mankind.

Here’s the video review:

Doctor Who — The Abominable Snowmen — Episode 3 — A Review

21st November, 2022.

Right … it’s officially not Friday.

You knew that.

It’s officially Monday.

Or possibly Tuesday, by the time you read this.

In case you didn’t know?

I watch TV shows: and — for some — will write about what I’ve seen, and have a video and written review up, the next night.

The past few Fridays?   Have seen me watching the first series of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

Whilst the past two Mondays?   Have seen me watching classic Dr Who story, The Abominable Snowmen.

As it’s Monday?

And once I’ve had something to eat … ?

I’ll be watching episode three of the serial: and have my written and video reviews up, late tomorrow night.

I hope you’d care to watch …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd November 2022.

22nd November, 2022.

Right … it’s Tuesday: and the day before payday.

So I’ll be shopping and bill paying … tomorrow.

Today … ?

I’ve got my nephew, this afternoon: and will be finishing my review of episode three of The Abominable Snowmen, after that.

Here’s hoping they go well!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2021: Terry Gilliam.

22nd November, 2021.

Right … it’s Monday.

Which is possibly a reason to cheerful.

At any rate … ?

I’ve quickly poked my head around the front door this morning.

And the temperature is something to not be happy about.

It’s decidedly cold.

I’ll be wearing a scarf, when I go out!

Star Trek Discovery — Series 3 Episode 3 — People of Earth — A Review

21st November, 2020.

It’s got to be said, I’m starting this … at the end of a comparatively long day.

Which means?

I’ve got even more excuse to finish what I’m starting, tomorrow.

But, for those of my readings following the story about the laptop I’ve borrowed?

I’ve finally picked it up: from the main Brentwood Post office, in Brentwood High Street.

~≈†≈~

As an extra thought …?   Or maybe question … ?

Have you been watching the animated Daleks series on YouTube?

It’s rather fun!

But I had to laugh, when I saw the second episode, tonight.

That Destroy without Pity acronym they used?

Is a direct lift from an old Dalek annual published in the 1960s!

I should know: I’ve got a copy!

At any rate … ?

I’ll be back later: to tell you about episode three of Star Trek Discovery … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2020: Well Done, Cutty Sark!

22nd November, 2020.

Yep: as I mentioned on Instagram, yesterday?

The laptop has turned up.

Or, at least, and after a lot of phone calls to my landlord?

Picked up from the Post Office in Brentwood High Street.

Turns out that’s where Parcelforce take parcels they can’t deliver.

Boy … but this course is proving to be a bother …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2019: Huxley

22nd November, 2019.

Yep.

You know it.

I know it …

We know it …

There is stuff going on … !

On a serious note?

I noticed this piece floating past.

It seems a gay man in Russia has been involved in making a video: answering children's questions about his life.

Russia being as discriminatory as it it?

He’s now been charged … with sexual assault.

After a complaint from a Deputy Parliamentary speaker.

OK … promoting homosexuality is considered a crime in Russia.

Which I know the LGBQ+ doesn’t like.

I can’t say I blame them.

But seeing this chap charged with assault, rather than promotion?   Or discussion, as we’d possibly call it?

Seems just a little odd.   To say the least.

~≈¥≈~

On a LESS serious note?

The Dr Who office has made a casting announcement.

Series 12 of Dr Who will see Sir Lenny Henry and Stephen Fry join the cast.

Personally?

I’d love to see how they are used.

Saying that … ?

I can still remember them both on the edgier bits of comedy.

And remembering Alexei Sayle beat them too it: he appeared in Revelation of the Daleks, back in the day.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd November, 2018

22nd November, 2018.

It’s officially official.

I had an interview over in Harold Hill, yesterday: managing to get myself good and lost, in the process.

Which was possibly a bad omen.

Unfortunately?

I didn’t get the job.

I will give the company credit for at least getting in touch with me, quickly, and letting me know.

Letting me know:

That I’d not got the job.
That they’d be recruiting for their Customer Care team in February
I’d be welcome to try again, then.

That’s something, I suppose …

Although, hopefully?

I’d’ve found something, by then …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd November, 2017

Oh …

I knew I’d seen the name, before!

Did I fell You I was watching TV, last night?

I was watching TV, last night: the last few episodes of The Strain, so you know.

And, it the midst of going through some old blog entries: in a vague effort to do some comparing and contrasting.

Remember me writing all those entries about Star Trek: Discovery?

Something that vaguely bothered me was Shazad Latif: who appears in the series and whose name seemed vaguely familiar.

Well, I’m happy.

In digging up the various links I realise I’d included Mr Latif’s name in the tags for Penny Dreadful: he plays Dr Jeckyll in the series.

Thank heavens I did.

That’s been bothering me for a while!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-11-2016: C. S. Lewis

I have to admit, I watch the news.

I also listen to the Today program, on Radio 4: they discussion and analysis of the day’s news makes for fascinating listening.

Especially when John Humphries is getting really intense at a politician.

At ANY rate?

They’ve mentioned one technology story, today.

The government is planning to invest £500 million into expanding fast broadband speeds.

That would be good to see.

Assuming, of course, the funds turn into fibre optic cables going from exchange to front door.

If it does?

If it does, we — at home, at work and at play — benefit from the improved speeds.

If it doesn’t … ?

We’ve got another empty promise from a politician.
