Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st May 2026.

1st May, 2026.

You know … sometimes, I’ll get the hang of those introduction videos!

Why?

Because it’s only after I’ve published it, I realised I’ve handed people a great big clue, for one of today’s questions … !

Heigh … ho … !!

~≈🕵🏻‍♂️≈~

Oh, I’ve finally finished ripping my recently purchased blu-ray box-set, the box-set of the classic BBC series, Blackadder*.

I’m going to have to write about the process, I really am!

At any rate … ?

This particular job is done.

And … ?

The results are happily stored.

I’ve also got to admit, I’m mildly impressed with the box set.

Granted, the price was possibly too high.

But it was on a par with the Limited edition Dr Who box-sets doing the rounds: they seem to have provided a model for this set.

Each individual series of Blackadder is on its own individual disc, and the set had three extra discs worth of bonus material: the specials, a documentary and lord knows how much studio footage,

It’s very well done.

And one hell of an improvement one the blu-ray version of The Day of the Triffids*.

That box-set could’ve had a few more bits …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2025 — The Illuminati

1st May, 2025: The Illuminati.

It has to be said … I’m annoyed at someone.

And, no, before you ask: I’m not saying who or why.

But I can safely say I went for a nice healthy stroll, last night.

As I’ve found that’s a good way of calming down: a better way — for me — than having a beer.

That’s not a safe option for me.

~≈🍺≈~

Right at the moment … ?

I have a 4k copy of The Terminator, copying onto my system.

I’m pleased.

I don’t think the database I’ve had to install helped: instead, I think the information dumps I sent in helped to update the software’s relevant decryption keys.

Whatever’s happened?

I’m pleased: at least I’ve got a good start to the day.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2024 — Staffordshire

1st May, 2024: Staffordshire.

Do you remember, a few weeks ago, that I had space issues on my new Mac?

And had to call Apple as a result?

I had space issues on my new Mac, a few weeks ago and had to call Apple as a result.

But in the process?

Had to remove things from my regular Time Machine back-ups: as this seemed to be part of the problem.

I removed my iMovie and Photos libraries.

That came back to bite my proverbial, last night: as I accidentally deleted a whole pile of photo folders!

Oh, I’ve managed to reconstruct everything.

But?

That’s taught me a lesson!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2023 — The Month of May.

1st May, 2023.

It’s officially official: it’s a Bank holiday Monday.

Frankly?

And, barring watching the snooker final, and editing some videos?

I’m fully expecting to be bored!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2022: May Day

1st May, 2022.

Yes.   It’s May Day: and the day before the May bank holiday.

Which means, as every snooker fan on the planet will tell you, is the start date for the final of this year’s World Championship.

It’s Ronnie O’Sullivan, versus Judd Trump; and I’m literally left wondering … exactly how long it’s going to take Ronnie to win.

Not that I’m cynical … but he’s been the best player on the planet for some time.

~≈⇧≈~

Yesterday?   I mentioned Neil Parish: the MP spotted watching porn in the House of Commons.

And that I wasn’t sure if he should resign: and had been bloody stupid.

Well … he’s done the decent think: and resigned …

Good — ha! — for him!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st May, 2021.

1st May, 2021.

You know … you can TELL we’re getting close to Election Day.

The date’s getting nearer to 6th May.

And I’m getting increasingly annoyed.

By the amount of leaflets coming through my door.

I’ve had one Conservative one: while I wouldn’t vote for them, the local candidate’s friendly enough to take my request — to not put them through my letter box — to heart.

The local Liberal Democrats, on the other hand?

I asked they’re representative if they could pass on the message: to not post at my address.

That, frankly, didn’t work: as I had another leaflet from them yesterday.

I’ve complained: after all, having volunteered for them, I know they have — or had — a list of addresses in the area who didn’t want literature.

Frankly?   Let’s just say I got at least one rather dismissive reply, from local Councillor, Karen Chilvers.

I’m glad I’m voting Green.

That — and her presence on the planning committee that screwed up the local mobile phone mast — means I’ve made aa good decision.

The Invisible Man (2020) — A Review

1st May, 2020.

It has to be said, it’s not often I watch a movie, these days.

Why?

I wish I knew for sure.

The length of some films, though?

Is something I find intimidating.

I’d not be sitting through episodes of Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, again.

Three hours a pop is a bit much.

Perils of ageing, I think.

At any rate … ?

I’ve seen a movie: the 2020, Leigh Whannell directed, Elisabeth Moss film, The Invisible Man.

Which is just over two hours long, in case you wondered.

Hmmmm …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-1-19: May Day

1st May, 2019: May Day.

Yes: it’s …

A concerning day …

I’ve a dentist’s appointment, today.

One I can’t cancel, on this short notice: as, inevitably, I’d get charged.

One I can’t afford, at the moment.

On the other hand … ?

I do know my sisters are heading for my seriously ill stepfather’s, today: and can’t guarantee they can get me back in time for the appointment.

As a result … ?   I’m not going to be able to go: today.

He’s … not necessarily got long.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen him: since a few years after he and my mother divorced.

As you can imagine … ?

I’m quietly hoping he lasts a bit longer …

Estrangement can only go on for so long …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st May, 2018.

1st May, 2018.

Yep: it’s definitive …

I’ve had a … drive by attempt!

I was actually doing some writing, yesterday: doing the basics for an up coming ten question set.

And?

Innocently Googled something: barracks, I seem to recall.

And got the pictured page as a result.

Before you ask … ?   I didn’t click a thing.

I was suspicious.

Partly because the page looked slightly wrong: the colouring, in particular, looked … iffy.

Partly … ?   The good ol’ thing that macOS generally doesn’t have as much malicious software as Windows: or even Linux.   Having a website — even one claiming to be an Apple authored one — saying I had malicious software on my Mac struck me as … odd.

The few remote virus scanning sites I’d used, only do so … when I’ve gone to them.

And partly?   Because of the URL that showed up in the bar at the top of the page.

It looked nothing like an Apple authored web address I’d ever seen.

I navigated away from it, after taking a screen shot.

And looked up what happened.

Apparently?   That little event was an attempt at what’s called a drive by download.   If you click on any links or buttons on there?   You get hit with issues.

If I’d clicked on that scan button?

Well …

Let’s just say I’m grateful I didn’t …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2017: May Day

Hang on, hang on …

We’ve got what … ?

I’ve got the Today programme on.

And just heard the news.

Parliament … ?

Has just appointed Camelia Parker … as the 2017 election artist.

Apparently, one of her best known works was Cold Dark Matter: basically, a garden shed she’d blown up, then hung around a light source.

What ever tickles your fancy, I guess.

But I’ve got one question.

Who cam up with the idea of an election artist?

~≈Â≈~

Oh, have I mentioned Dr Who, yet?

I saw this week’s episode, Thin Ice, last night.

And was seriously impressed with that.

I’m thinking Peter Capaldi, at his best in the show?

Does his good acting work with his face: The Husbands of River Song tells us that, with River Song’s big ‘Fall in love with a sunset’ speech.

I don’t know if it’s Capaldi’s best episode …

But, in allowing him to show us that side of the Doctor?

It’s certainly a candidate.

The Daily Teaser — 1-5-2016

There are times …

There ARE times … when Sunday morning’s lovely.

It’s nice and mellow.

On the OTHER hand … ?

There’s time when Sunday morning comes after Saturday night.

When I finished at half-past midnight.

Frankly … ?

I didn’t get much sleep … !
