28th March, 2026: A Vote of No Confidence.

Right, then: it’s officially Saturday morning: which means I’ve got a long(ish) day ahead of me.

Writing a review of the last ever episode of Stranger Things.

Here’s hoping I can get it done quickly.

It was a two hour episode, after all.

Oh … the clocks go forward, tonight: at least they do, here in the UK.

I can never work out if that means I get an extra hour in bed, or one less.

Either way … ?

The clock on my phone, and computer, will change, automatically.

But I’ll have to change the one on the wall, and microwave, by hand.

Hmmm … 

I think I got that right … 

I’ve finished a review, so you know: of the first episode of classic Dr Who story, The Savages.

And … ?

I’ve managed, for the most part, to press all the right buttons.

Bar the slightly faster than it should be theme tune, I’ve got the colour saturation right, and managed to get the green screen fringing reduced.

 And forgot to press the right buttons in this morning’s intro video!

Heigh ho … !

Did I mention have accounts with two different banks?

My main one’s with one bank: a subsidiary one with another.

The main one’s Brentwood branch closes in September: but, from what I’m told, I can use the Brentwood branch of another bank — one owned by the same company — to do day to day things.

Mostly, withdrawing cash.

So that’s ok.

The other bank closed for refurbishment, recently: as it had expanded into the empty shop, next door.

It reopened, yesterday.

I’ll tell you what: I don’t think I’ve seen a queue like that since the original Star Wars opened.

At least, I think so.

I’m just very aware I’m not going to be as funny as a comedian from New Jersey!

Yes: it’s official.

I’m hungry … !

It’s first thing on a Monday morning, and I’m hungry.

Mostly … ?

Because of blood tests.

I’ve got to have some diabetes related blood tests, this morning: and, of course, I have to fast!

I hate that: I’m way too fond of toast!

OK … 

This year’s Oscars have finished.

And we have to give Will Smith credit for more headlines than a Best Actor winner usually does.

The thing that caught my attention, though?

Was AppleTV+ film, CODA*, winning this year’s Best Film gong: the first film distributed by a streaming service to wining the Best Picture award.

That’s going to give Apple — and the streaming section of the industry — one hell of a boost†.

We’ve had nice sunny weather for the past few days.

Apart from this morning.

It’s official: it’s now British Summer Time.

In other words, and if you didn’t know?

The clocks went forward, overnight.

Why?   I still don’t know: despite it happening for most of my life.

If you’ve a good lay explanation of why we give ourselves mild jet lag, every year, I’d love to hear it.

Have you been watching the situation in Myanmar?

The Army has taken power in a coup that started in February.

Yesterday?   Saw the highest number of killing in the Troubles.

The crackdown’s included the military’s shooting of children.

That’s … 

I’m sorry … but if you start killing children as part of a campaign?

That invalidates any moral or ethical argument you may have had on your side.

I can officially go out: mostly where I’ve got some medication to pick up.

Ye gods!   I started this blog, many years ago, to help my fellow pub quiz masters find question sets … 

And know I’m asking people to remind me to buy bin bags!

Given that I almost spelt ‘remind’ as ‘remand’ … ?

Given that, I think the sooner this is over, the better!

Yes, it’s true: drinking through a straw, at the moment, seems to be a good thing.

I means I don’t dribble.

Well … 

Any more than I would do, normally.

Which seemed to work out well enough.

Until this morning … when I had too much of a mouthful of tea … 

That started dribbling out of my nose.

That’s … 

Well, frankly, it’s simultaneously amazingly dignified … and rather disconcerting.

You kno, there’s times — times — when it’s nice to listen to talk radio.

Although I’m very aware of two things.

Not every has access to BBC Radio 4.

And the phrase, ‘talk radio’ itself, means different things to different stations.

I’ve been listening to last night’s Just A Minute: which was fun.

I have to say, comedian, Al Murray, did rather well.

It’s just a shame he lost, really …
