Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-7-2017: They Think It’s All Over …

Ye gods, I’m going to have no eyeballs left at the end of the day.

I’m up, at nearly six: having got out of bed at five.

Ready for a working day starting at ten.

Oy …

Veh … !

One these days?

I swear, I’m going to win a fortune on the Lottery.

A few million would make working at the weekends seriously optional.

Oh, while I’m here … ?

I — occasionally — like a bit of electronica.

You possibly wouldn’t have guessed: given the amount of Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, William Orbit, and lord knows what else in my iTunes library.

So, the fact someone’s done a version of the Dr Who theme — as if it had been done by John Michel Jarre — grabbed my attention.

You have to love a tune, don’t you … ?

The Daily Teaser — 3-2-2015

Oh, well, that’s THAT explained, then … !

Do you follow football, at all?

Personally, I don’t: I’m not a fan of the game.

But one doesn’t necessarily need to be a fan to know a thing or two: especially if you’ve been a barman — in pubs that show football — for 14 years.

You get VERY aware of the consensus amongst fans: that FIFA, the sport’s governing body, is corrupt.

Has it’s hand in the till.   Putting bungs in it.   Taking kickbacks.

Yesterday … ?   Saw the resignation of FIFA’s controversial President, Sepp Blatter.    I was … shocked … but not necessarily surprised.

At least one football fan I know, cheered.

At any rate, I was unsurprised: but curious about his motivation, as he’d maintained he’d be staying on.

But according to reports from the US, this morning … ?   The FBI’s investigating him.

Well, that’s THAT explained, than … !

The Daily Teaser — 28-5-2015: The Goon Show.

I’m not a football fan.

I’ve never especially been keen on the game.

Things like the World Cup, and the various European Championships tournaments?   Tend to either pass me by, get ignored … or seen as a bloody nuisance.

On the other hand … ?   I worked in pubs for 14 years.   Professionally speaking, it comes in handy to know who’s up, who’s down, and who the major managers are.   I still feel David Moyes, who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, was hard done by: given he was booted out after only a few weeks.

So one can’t be unaware that football’s governing body is FIFA.

One can’t be unaware of the fact that — yesterday — several senior FIFA officials were arrested.

One can’t be unaware of one fact that many football fans … aren’t going to be surprised.

I’ll be frank: from the little I know, there’s been talk — amongst fans — of FIFA corruption for years …

From the little I know?   Yesterday’s arrests aren’t surprising.
