I’m still contemplating leaving the service.

After I’ve let my followers on the service know, finalised a few things … and told them, and you, where to find me …

Apple have introduced a new subscription service, their Apple Creator Studio, over the last few days: following Adobe, Microsoft, and many others, in introducing Software as a Service (SaaS) versions of some of their products*.

The suite include’s access to Final Cut Pro, Apple’s professional video editing suite, along side premium features for the iWork suite: Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

I’m a little unsure about committing to it, though, as it’s an extra, ongoing, cost.

I’d rather pay once, frankly.

We’ll have to see what happens, there.

Yep: when I woke up this morning, it was raining.

It’s now, thankfully, stopped.

Which is possibly a good thing.

As there’s less of a chance of black ice, due to rain, and light, overnight, snow.

Either way … ?

I’m planning to go for a stroll, later.

Being careful would be an idea …

In the wake of the man’s death, “Heaven can Wait” still carries one hell of an emotional charge!

So much of a charge, I had to switch it off.

Or maybe a movie.

After dinner, of course.

Frankly?

I’ve been meaning to catch on or the other for a while.

And, yes: I’ve decided to watch the much spoken of, Nigel Kneale penned, TV play that is … 

The Year of the Sex Olympics.

What’s the betting that title will attract attention … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-4-2021: Samuel Beckett

13th April, 2021.

It’s got to be said: lockdown has eased … slightly … 

Or, at least, slightly enough for me to visit a barbers.

A new place in Brentwood High Street.

I’m not totally stunned with my trim: although, to be fair, it was comparatively cheap.

At least for around here!

Oh … I’ve got the new external drive set up: it’s being backed up to as we speak.

And yes: it’s going to take another five hours, as I’m using it to back up both my main drive: and my external storage drive.

It’s going to take that long, as it’s a few thousand gigabytes …

I forgot something.

I’ve managed to pick up two copies — one for keeps, one to play — of Rhianna Pratchett’s Crystal of Storms: one in a series of the revived Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.

I played some of the originals, back in the day.   So, given one of the game industry’s finest has done one? Given whose daughter she is?

Spending a little cash seemed wise.

I just wish I’d bought a pencil …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-1-2020: The Cherry Orchard

17th January, 2020.

Right … about the boiler situation … 

As you’re possibly aware, I report my boiler as broken at the end of December: and had the repair man turn out, on Wednesday.

He told me that I’d need extensive repair work: so extensive, that a replacement boiler could well be a better option … and that he would be recommended what’s called a DRC survey from a superior.

So that a senior person from his company can issue the relevant approval.

I was going to phone the contractors, yesterday to arrange that: once I got back from the Job Centre.

Except that they managed to phone: at 8:30, yesterday morning.

And arrange the visit for this morning: between eight and one.

The sooner the better, I hope.

The sooner my boiler’s repaired, the better.

Can I make a confession?

I’m a Terry Pratchett fan: one who thoroughly enjoy Good Omens, when it was released.

And pleased to know other are, as well: now it’s being aired on BBC2.

However?

I’ve seen stuff go past about The Watch, BBC America’s take on Sir Terry’s work.

I’ve seen news of the various bits of casting, go past.

Seen some of the publicity shots.

Frankly?

BBC America is making a show I’m planning to go nowhere near.

It’s a travesty.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-11-2016: The Mousetrap

Hmmm … 

It’s officially official.

It’s Black Friday.

The term was originally used in the UK, by the emergency services: to describe the last Friday before Christmas.

When people in the UK, traditionally got drastically drunk, celebrating the season.

In the past few years?

The US definition of the term’s been used.

The day is the shopping day after Thanksgiving, when many in the US will be taking the day off: and booking the Friday off, as well, and making a long weekend of it.

Spending a fortune in the pre-christmas sales, in the process.

That’s ok, by me.

But some shops and retail websites in the UK are marking it.

It’s has calmed down a lot: ever since, in 2014, some shops saw riots over assorted Black Friday offers.

But I still find it stupid and offensive, that the results of a US public holiday, are marked by UK shops.

The Stone Tape — Retro TV

16th January, 2016: The Stone Tape.

You know, it’s not THAT often I get a Saturday night off.

But when I do, and if I’ve nothing else to do, I like to try and catch a movie.

Or a TV series.

Dr Who is a perennial favourite: but I’ve been binge-watching Penny Dreadful and House of Cards, over the past few months.

I’m ALSO planning to catch series two of Gotham: week by week, as and when it’s aired here in the UK.

Occasionally … ?

Just occasionally, I find a TV show that’s not a series: doesn’t get anywhere near being a series, or beyond pilot.

Or … can I be frank?

I’ve spent tonight watching an old ‘made for TV’ PLAY: the Nigel Kneale penned, Peter Sasdy directed, The Stone Tape.

And it’s rather hard to explain, unless you know a little background.

WarHorse: Now That’s Emotional … !

You know, it HAS to be said, I’ve had quite the afternoon, today.

No, really … !

Bless, it was my mother’s birthday, just recently.

And as an extra treat … ?

Anna and ruth, my two sisters, decided to organise a cheap an cheerful afternoon out.

Well …

Cheapish: we ARE talking London, after-all …

Hmmm … 

At ANY rate, they managed to treat us all to a family afternoon out: to a matinee performance of Warhorse, at the New London Theatre.

Set during World War 1, and based on the Michael Morpurgo novel of the same name, Warhorse tells the story of Joey — a young colt originally wanted as a draft horse — and his owner: a young farm boy called Arthur Narracott.

And follows they tale as Joey from his taming and training as a plough-horse: and eventually selling to the British Army … 

And his surviving the brutal madness of World War One, after having his rider — Major Nicholls — shot off him, in a charge at a machine gun nest.

Now, I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed this, I really did.

The show is riveting, and kept me in my seat for some 160 minutes.

What’s more … ?

What’s more it’s a show whose stars — the puppet horses you’ve heard so much about —  are the most watchable things in it.

Can I suggest you go see this show … ?

It will repay you …
