Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-1-2025 — The Attack

6th January, 2025: the Attack.

It’s officially something I was trying to avoid: but I have to admit … I have an earworm, this morning!

Yes: a song about a baby!

Quite why … ?

I’m blowed if I know!

~≈♪≈~

It’s also, officially, Monday.

The first of the new year.

So … ?

I’m up early: to go to my newly re-started weight management group.

Hopefully?

I’ll’ve lost something: preferable some weight, rather than any hope, or my wits!

Height … … ho!

~≈🏋🏻‍♀️≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Mum† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        6th January saw a mob attack the US Capitol Building.   In which year of the 2020s?

Q2)        Attack — and Capitol — were in which US city: Los Angeles, New York or Washington DC?

Q3)        The attackers were trying prevent whose election as President: Joe Biden’s, Kamala Harris’ or Donald Trump’s?

Q4)        The attackers supported the outgoing 45th President of the USA.   Who was that president: Joe Biden, Kamala Harris or Donald Trump?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The attack was investigated by the United States House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.   The Select Committee’s members were from what: the House of Representatives or the Senate?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Waiting for Godot premiered on 5th January.   Of which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1953.

Q2)        In which city: Paris, London or Berlin?
A2)        Paris.

Q3)        In which language: French, English or German?
A3)        French.

Q4)        The play was written by whom: David Mamet, Samuel Beckett or Arthur Miller?
A4)        Samuel Beckett.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Does Godot appear in Waiting for Godot: yes, or no?
A5)        No.
Here’s a thought …
“The attack was ultimately unsuccessful in preventing the certification of the election results.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the attack.
And a news report about Nancy Pelosi …

The next ten question set is on the 8th of January: it’s about Elvis Presley.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I think the carrot situation is what they call a synchronicity, Olga: unless I mess my guess!   Either way, it sounds like Beckett was doing a little homaging.
That’s said?   I’ve just had a look at the Wikipedia entry for Waiting for Lefty.   It really doesn’t sound like Godot: more like like Pulp Fiction, in terms of structure …

        Hello, Mum!

Oh, Waiting for Lefty is definitely a very different play from Godot, and not only in its ideology. It is a series of sketches. And now that I think about it, in The Iceman Cometh, by Eugene O'Neill, a great American Dramatist (he won the Nobel Prize and also the Pulitzer, four times), the characters are also waiting for a character, called Hickey, a travelling salesman, and talking about him and their lives, in a bar, and Hickey never turns up either. The play is from 1939, although it wasn't performed until a few years later. I like O'Neill a lot. He was a bit like Picasso but in drama. Over his career, he wrote plays in very different styles, modernist, realist, psychoanalytical... (Mind you, some of his plays can be very long. The Iceman Cometh is quite long, and Long Day's Journey Into Night even longer. He was the father of Oona O'Neill, who married Charles Chaplin. And, from the surname, you'll have guessed that he had Irish roots).
