Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2026 — Colombia

20th July, 2026: Colombia.

Right … it’s Monday, again.

And … ?

After taking weight loss medication, last Friday, it’s time for me to head for my weight loss weigh in.

Keep you’re fingers crossed, please: while you’re doing that, I’ll be hoping the bag of crisps I had, yesterday, won’t show up!

Andy Burnham* gets sworn in as Prime Minister, today.

I wish him luck: although my cynical side has a question.

When exactly, will he resign?

We’ve got through a few PMs, since 2016.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2025 — Elijah

20th July, 2025: Elijah.

Right …

It’s officially official: I went out shopping, yesterday.

And?

And … ?

Got rained on!

And got wet feet.

Was I surprised?

Nope.

But I was glad to get indoors, and get my shoes and socks off!

~≈🧦≈~

One thing I do know … ?

Is that I managed to catch the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds new season on Thursday.

And finally got the written and video reviews up, yesterday.

Feel free to hit the like button … !

As a final thought … ?

I have a few memory sticks: they’re handy if you need to transport data around.

I have to say, though, that one had issues: as it wouldn’t eject unless I force ejected.

It turns out that — going by the advice I got from the Apple Communities Forums — I had to drag it into a certain box in System Setting … and/or restart in Safe Mode.

That seemed to work: I now have a useable stick.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2024 — International Moon Day

20th July, 2024: International Moon Day.

It’s officially official: it’s Saturday.

And, thankfully … ?

I’m relatively unscathed by the CloudStrike outage.

I’ve had a Mac for several for several years: and the problem … ?

Only affected Windows based PCs running a specific bit of security software: one called Falcon Sensor.

I’m relieved … and vaguely smug.

Not that smug, though: as the outage affected transmitting a prescription from my GP, to my pharmacist*.

So I’m understanding, I think.

And hoping this mess can be cleared up, quickly.

Equally as hopefully?

I’m hoping this doesn’t happen again.

But … ?   It wouldn’t surprise me if we get another outage in the not too distant future.

Now …

Is now a good time to tell you to buy a Mac?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th July, 2023.

20th July, 2023.

Right …

It’s Thursday.

Which means … ?

Bar the the usual walk around the block?

It’s going to be a quiet day.

However?

It’s pay day, tomorrow.

Which means I can do stuff.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th July, 2022.

20th July, 2022.

It’s officially official.

It’s predicted to be cooler, today: with a possibility of clouds.

With predictions of rain.

Normally?

I’d be whinging like billy-o about the rain.

But, given yesterday’s heat?

Given there’s wildfires in the UK … ?

Including in Wennington, about thirteen miles from me?

Rain will be welcome!

~≈¥≈~

I’m up early: in case you didn’t know.

I’ve got some blood tests at Brentwood Hospital, today: the usual check of my sugar and thyroid levels.

Hopefully?

They’ll go well.

I’m just glad they weren’t scheduled for yesterday!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2021: World Chess Day.

20th July, 2021.

Right … it’s a Tuesday … and the weather is looking good … again.

And, after two meetings, yesterday … ?

I’ve another, today.

Yes: I’m due for a meeting with my case worker, at the Job Centre.

Quite how that will go?   I don’t know.

Well …

Not until I get there … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2020: Alexander the Great

20th July, 2020

Right … I have to admit it: I’m nervous.

I’ve a radio interview, today: at twelve, for the local radio station.

Have I done job interviews?   Yes: it doesn’t stop me being nervous about them, but yes, I’ve done them.

This?

This, on the other hand, is going to be a bit different.

It’s going to get broadcast, at some point … !

~≈¥≈~

They’re actually phoning me on my landline.

Which is nice.

Remember the ongoing issue with my O2 mobile?

The local mast that had gone down?

We HAD been told  it would be back, today, by 8pm.

I’ve JUST check O2’s site.

We’re now going to get updated by Frida, 31st July, this year.

I’m not going to swear.

Much …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2019: Walking on the Moon.

20th July, 2019.

Right …

I have an internal hard drive to get rid of.

Which usually means one thing.

Selling it to my local branch of CeX?   Is my usual course of action.

However, with the hard drive in question?

The las time I took the thing into Brentwood CeX, there was a problem.

Apparently?

The hard drive only had one partition, called an EFI boot partition: and nothing else.

Now, I have to admit, that piece of news … was something I wasn’t sure I liked: as I wasn’t sure I could do anything about it.

As soon as I got back home?

I posted a question to the relevant Apple forum: and got an answer that looks helpful.

Hopefully?

That will help.

OK, streaming services.

There’s a few, isn’t there?

It looks like the UK will get another one … come October.

Something I know the BBC have wanted to do for years, is use the iPlayer — the BBC’s catch up service — as an international streaming service: alone the lines of Netflix.

Which never caught on.

However, Aunty Beeb has worked with ITV.   To introduce a streaming service called Britbox: to sell British TV content abroad.

And have announced that the service will start in the UK, towards the end of the year.

I have to admit, I’m … slightly concerned.

My worry?   Is that both iPlayer and ITV Hub — ITV’s equivalent to the iPlayer — may be phased out, here in the UK: in favour of a subscription service.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford that!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th July, 2018.

20th July, 2018.

Yep: it’s official.

The trailer for Dr Who’s eleventh series — the first with Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor — was the official Dr Who Youtube channel: and BBC America’s.   Along side Jodie’s first appearance at the San Diego Comic Con.

Along side anything else?

I suspect a few of the clips in the trailer are from one or two episodes.

There’s quite a LOT of scenes with the 13th Doctor in the 12th’s outfit: so in the immediate aftermath of the regeneration.

You get to see the new sonic screwdriver in action.

No apparent shoots of the new TARDIS set …

And still no date.

That’s a disappointment …

But, it’s a nice trailer to see …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2017: World Chess Day

Blast …

I have even shorter hours, this week.

Because?

Because I spent most of yesterday, throwing up!

Good knows what my innards are actually doing.   Beyond the obvious!

The only real upside?

Is that I managed to catch the last two episodes of series two of American Horror Story.

Which is well worth watching.

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 20-7-2016: Walking on the Moon

Hmmm …

Am I the only person having trouble?

Honestly!

I’ve tried getting through to Wikipedia and the Creative Commons.org site …

And I’m definitely having trouble.

Either my router’s going home — which wouldn’t surprise me — or something’s happening to the ’Net.

Ouch!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2016

Does anyone know what’s happening with creativecommons.org?

Basically?   The site’s the one I use to license the quizzes I post here: that lets you re-use them, should you choose to.

It’s being affected by a 522 error: in other words, the site’s taking too long to respond to a web browser.

Oh, WAIT … !

It’s back online.

But Wikipedia seems to be having issues …

Oy … !
