15th October, 2024: Nature vs Nietzsche.

Right, I have to admit, I was up early, again, today.

I’m getting a mattress delivered, this morning.

And … ?

I’m getting the old one removed by the delivery company.

After a bad night’s sleep.   Stress induced, I think: I had a few deliveries, and my weight management meeting … 

And a phone call from the Department of Work and Pensions: to review my Universal Credit claim.

Mostly about my bank, and PayPal, statements for the last few months.

All that … and waiting for yesterday’s batch of deliveries?

Well, stress is the word, I think!

I follow the news: so?

When Radio Four’s Today programme announces news that interests me, I pay attention.

I’m obese, so you know: managing my weight by a mix of meal-monitoring, and taking at least one dual use medication.

I’m on Mounjaro: but have used Ozempic.

So notice the piece on the Today programme: that tells us the Health Secretary is planning to introduce weight loss drugs for the unemployed.

As he feels it will save the National Health Service money, long term: and improve the economy, by reducing the amount of sick days taken by people like me.

I’d welcome that: knowing the good these drugs can do.

But … ?

Wonder why it hasn’t been done earlier.

Right … ‘handy to know’ … that’s possibly could have been better phrased.

It could have been something that’s interesting to know!

At any rate … ?

Protest group, Insulate Britain had been making idiots of themselves with various radical protests, over the past few weeks.

While I can agree with their point?

I’ve been a commuter who’s had his trip home delayed by various things: so think the protests … are annoying.

Frankly, I’d be doing the kicking, as well.

At any rate … ?

I’ve noticed recent news.

One piece?   Motorists confronted protestors on the M25.

Understandably, I think: I’ve been equally annoyed, whenever my trip home’s been delayed by people jumping in front of a train.   Sympathetic, yes: but very annoyed.

So seeing that annoyed motorist were confronting protesors, and in ways that could prove dangerous?

Was no surprise.

Then came another piece, yesterday.

That tells us IB have announced they’re suspending protests until 25th October.

Good.

Hopefully, that suspension will give them a chance to find a less corrosive place to protest.

As irritating as Mr Stop Brexit was, at least he was just annoying MPs and TV viewers.

And, to be frank?

I’m A Banana went down a storm, the last time he was here.

We’ll have to see what I can smuggle past him, this time.

Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles, currently ear worming it’s way through my head, probably won’t.

We’ll have to see if he goes for Star Wars!

Did I mention I have a YouTube channel?

I’ve got a YouTube channel.

You might have noticed.

I’m now officially the owner of a YouTube channel that’s got more than 1000 subscribers.

I’ve got a subscriber base.

Amazingly!

With the watch hours I’ve got?

That means I’m eligible for YouTube’s Partner Programme.

The programme, in other words, that lets you make money from the ads that are placed on your videos.

I think I’ve managed to successfully sign up for the thing, and it’s getting reviewed.

Unfortunately?

Google — YouTube’s owners — have a payment threshold of £60: they only pay out once you’ve earned that much.

I’ve earned £19·46p

Hmmm …

Would you mind hitting an ad, if you’re watching my channel … ?

Not that it’s getting very far, but — in theory — I have a phone interview pencilled in for tomorrow.

I managed to catch last night’s episode of Dr Who — The Ghost Monument — relatively late: as I finished work at six.

It’s an intelligently written, very Banksian take on The Cannonball Run … 

With a twist … 

I don’t think The Cannonball Run had killer robots, holographic race organisers or deadly sea-water.

I liked it: and think it will repay further viewing.

Oh … and the new titles look good …

I DO like to sit down with a movie, if I ever get the chance.

No, really.

If you’ve been paying attention for the past few years?   You’d’ve probably noticed!

I tend … to go for … well … 

All sorts of things, actually.

But usually don’t watch the Marvel franchise, or the X-Men films.

They’ve not usually grabbed my interest.

I’m not going to tell you they’re bad.

They’ve just never especially appealed, that’s all.

One that had, though?

Was the film I finally decided to catch, tonight.

Yep … 

I’ve FINALLY sat down and watched the 2016, Tim Miller directed, Deadpool.

And, yes … this posts title really could be misinterpreted.

I’ve actually got today, off.

Which sounds odd, coming from a chap that’s literally just started work.

Today?

Today, though?

Is different, because it’s a Saturday off … for someone who’s a working man.

Unlike last Saturday, where I was an unemployed parasite, leeching off the state.

The fact I’ve not been paid my first week’s wages?   And really can’t afford to do anything about it … ?   Or actually, I don’t know, maybe take a friend out for a coffee?

Really has nothing to do with it.
