It’s Halloween: and I have the evening free.

I’m JUST finishing cooking dinner.

I’m going to eat that: obviously!

Then?

Watch a film.

I have to admit: I had a few movies I felt I could watch.

The Black Phone looks interesting.

As does Strickland’s Flux Gormet.

Eventually?

I settled for the 2021, Micheal Chaves directed, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

By the time I’ve had a good night’s sleep?

I’ll be able to tell you more …

Hmmm … 

It’s late on a Saturday night …

And?



I should possibly be getting to bed.



Possibly.



On the other hand … ?



Maybe not.

As I’m still talking over Christmas presents for my nephew with his mum: my sister, Ruth.

The prices are still mind boggling: but I have managed to get something reasonable priced for him.

Phew … 



To coin a phrase.

It’s a Saturday night: quietly spent indoors, doing laundry.



And stuff … 



And thinking I should watch a movie.

Granted, I wanted to catch Hellraiser: Judgement.

And I, Daniel Blake.



But?

I felt saving them for another day could be an option.

Tonight?

I felt The Curse of La Llorona could be just the thing …

Annabelle: A Review

3rd August, 2019.

Yes: it’s actually a quiet Saturday night.

Believe it or not.

A quite Saturday night with nothing much to do.

Or that I can do.

You know, laundry, house work, what have you.

What’s bothering me … ?

Is simply the job situation.

I still won’t know, until Monday, whether I’ve got the one I’m supposed to be starting on Thursday.

Well … 



Bar worrying about it, there’s not much I can do there.

Obviously.

Recently?

I’ve been playing a few of the freebie games available on the AppleTV.

Including an implementation of Tetris that’s rather fun.

The other thing … ?

Now that I’ve got the bulk of the TV shows done with … ?

Is catch a movie or two.

Last night’s?

Was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.



Tonight … ?

I fancied something shorter … a bit bloodier …

I fancied Annabelle.

If that doesn’t sound ambiguous …

The Nun: A Review.

16th January, 2019.

Yes: it’s officially depressing … 

I went all the way to Southend … and came back without a job.

And got the email this afternoon, to confirm it.

Granted: I think I was maybe under qualified for the role.

But … still … 

It’s depressing to get knocked back after going all that way … ?

Is …

To top that off … ?



To top that off, I also got turned down by the job in London: the one I went for, last week?

Although that was less of a blow: I got there a few minutes, late — which never impresses — AND the rest of the people working there seemed terribly young.

So I wasn’t so emotional about that.

All I have to do, now … ?



Is keep hunting, and wait to see what the interview I had yesterday, says …

At any rate, I really wanted something to do, tonight.

If nothing else … ?



If nothing else, catching something on the box seemed the thing: although not much broadcast TV appealed.

The movie collection … ?

Had a few bits I’d not caught … 

iTunes, on the other hand?

My iTunes account had a few quid: saved up for when I had been working.



I could, at least, rent a movie.

I did.

The 2018, The Conjuring franchise entry, The Nun.

Was it money well spent … ?

The Conjuring 2 — Still Nice … !

I have something of a confession to make.

It’s a relatively simple confession to make.

A relatively simple confession to make … about movies.

It’s quite simply this.

I don’t, usually, watch sequels.

I’ve up grown, over the years, with the impression that they’re not a patch on the original film.

With one or two exceptions, I think.

The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi were improvements on their predecessor.

Aliens — in going in an action direction — was a very different film from the original: and the better for it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens … ?

A VAST improvement on The Phantom Menace trilogy: themselves a major argument that sequels aren’t necessarily a good thing.

A few months back, I managed to sit done with the James Wan directed, The Conjuring.

And came away thinking two things.

That The Conjuring was enjoyable.

And that The Conjuring was enjoyable enough to make me want to invest my time in its sequel: the imaginatively named The Conjuring 2.

OK, the name might be unimaginative.

You know, I knew there was something I forgot to do.

No, really!

The past few months have seen me doing all sorts of things.

Mostly?

Worrying about my health and working.

And writing for both here, and for the Brentwood Gazette.

So … ?

I’ve not had as much time to devote to things I like — occasionally — to do.

Catch up with people.

Read a good book.

Watch some TV: although I’ve done a bit of that, recently.

Oh … and caught a film or two.

I’ve not caught a film or two in a long time.

I’ll be frank?   While I didn’t have much credit in my iTunes account?

I did have enough films in my collection I’d not seen to make it worth my while to go browsing through me, to see what I had.

You’re right.

I did pick The Conjuring … 

And, yes, I think ‘nice’ is a good word.
