Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2022 — Cambodia

24th September, 2022.

Yep: I’m up early, again.

On a Saturday!

The reason?   Is simply that I have an eye test!

I’m looking forward to it: I could do with new lenses.

The Queen is dead: long live her replacement.

Now the funeral is over, and we have a worki  functioni

We have a government that’s back in action.

Yesterday?

New Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, had a financial event on Friday.

Not a budget: or even a mini-budget.

A financial event.

Basically?   He’s announced a slew of financial measures: including a lot of tax cuts.

Including lowering the basic rate to 19p in the pound.

Not something  that will benefit me: until I start working.

Which sounds about right, frankly!

He’s also announced a change in the rules for Universal Credits.

There’s a change to the amount of hours you can work, before you have to report in to a Job Centre.

And extra help finding work for the over-fifties.

Apparently?   We’re going to get more time with out work coaches.

Personally?

I think we have a Chancellor who’s doing busy-work: rather than anything useful.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-11-2020: Cambodia.

9th November, 2020.

Right …

We have a dangling thingy … wossname …

Door handle!

Which would be easy to solve: by reporting it on the website.

Except, of course, the website’s refusing to accept I’ve typed my name in!

Do you get the feeling I’m going to be phoning this in … ?

Either way?   It’s distracting.

Which isn’t the first time I said that about it.

I actually said it last night: when talking about Star Trek Discovery.

At any rate … ?

The series looks good.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18th November, 2018

18th November, 2018.

Yep: in amongst everything else?

It’s bin emptying day, today.

I’ve ALSO got a couple emails to do, job-hunting to be done …

And confess I dropped of a couple of CVs, in Romford, yesterday.

Partly, I wanted the day out.

And partly?   I wanted to see how the Oyster I’ve got, works.

Seemingly?

Quite well.

So that’s that sorted …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-11-2016

Well … it’s Friday morning …

Which means it’s pay day, and time to pay off the bills.

But it’s also a morning where — as ever — I’ve got Radio Four’s Today programme on.

The programme’s discussing a case where a now Dead 14-year-old cancer patent who wanted to be cryogenically preserved … has had her wish respected.

A judged has decide in the girl’s favour: and she is to be preserved at a facility in the United States.

Personally?   I’m very aware the legal decision is about the girl’s wishes for the disposal of her body, after death.

Which is fair enough.

But the idea of cryogenically preserving a body, in the belief that it can be healed at some very distant point in the future?

To me, seems very odd … !
