Star Trek Discovery — Series 5 Episode 5 — “Mirrors” — A Review

25th April, 2024: an introduction.

Right …

It’s official.

It’s Discovery night!

OK, alright.

It’s Thurday.

Which means …

Yes: I am going to be watching the next episode of Star Trek Discovery.

Once I’ve had dinner!

I’ve got just one question.

Why on Earth didn’t I but some sliced cheese, when I got the chance?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-3-2022: Lou Reed.

2nd March, 2022.

Right …

Bugger is possibly the word.

I was supposed to have a GP’s appointment, yesterday … which didn’t go ahead.

As my GP … ?   Phoned my mobile.

You know my mobile?

That one that’s fine … but doesn’t get a signal in my area because the local mast got taken down?

The one that sends people to my voice mail, when it can’t pick up a signal?

The one that I always miss calls on, when I’m out?   Because it’s in a coat pocket?

That one?

That’s the one she called on.   I got a text message about it!

I’m annoyed: partly at myself — I’m sure I reminded Reception to ask her to phone my landline, but possibly didn’t! — and partly at the surgery.

My landline, and the reason for using it, has been on the record for a couple of years.

Back to reception it is, then!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd March, 2021.

2nd March, 2021.

It’s Tuesday …

And, frankly?

I’m expecting a call from my GP, later.

I’m half expecting to hear about a potential covid vaccination.

But also to discuss my health.

Which is always worrying.

I’m diabetic: and one always hears horror stories …

~≈🧟≈~

It’s still Tuesday …

And the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will be issuing this years’s budget, tomorrow.

I’m not expecting much.

Although I’m hoping that the £20 uplift to Universal Credit* — introduced last year — will be made permanent.

From the little I’ve heard … ?

It’s possibly only going to be extended for six months.

Just long enough to be around for the local elections in May.

But not long enough to pay for Christmas.

Heigh … ho …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th November, 2017.

Ah HA!

It looks like it’s holding!

I don’t know about you, but I ten to rely on Wikipedia for writing both the Teaser, and the  quizzes I wrote for the pub quizzes I ran.

But could never afford — for much of the time — to make a donation.

I have, however, made a positive contribution.

You see the screen shot of the Wikipedia page for the 21st November?

The entry about Robert Mugabe’s resignation?

That woz me, wot dun it!

Ahem!

In other words, it was me that created the entry, flagged up the fact on the relevant talk page … and is desperately hoping it’s still there in a years time.

Frankly?

I’m enough of an tart for the attention, to go Wheeeeeeeeeeee … ! whenever I see the page: and that my bit’s still there.

But on a more serious note?

It’s nice to know that a contribution I’ve made, is still in place,

I just hope it’s still there, next year.

It’s be nice to use it as the basis for a 2018 question.

And it’s nice to make a positive contribution, however small.

The Daily Teaser — 27-10-2014

Oh, but I hate earworms, sometime, I really do … !

An earworm, so you know, is a tune — or one of the catchier parts of it, like the chorus — that starts working its way around you head.

Personally … ?

I usually get one playing around my brain, when I get up.

Which is not a good time to have a Bombalurina tune going around you head.
