Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-1-2022: Lewis Carroll

27th January, 2022.

Yes: I’ve got my nephew, Jude, coming over, today.

There’s a distinct possibility of videos being made: in case you couldn’t tell.

The last one has had thirty views: so hopefully?

We’ll be able to get a few more.

On top of that … ?

I’ve got a Zoom meeting, this morning: another in one of the two weight management programs I’m in.

I’ve lost a little: so that’s possibly a sign it’s working.

One bit of news I’ve noticed … ?

Is a change in conditions for those — like me — who are claiming Universal Credit.

Or, at least, for the newly unemployed who are just just starting to claim.

Up until today?   They would have three months from the start of their claim, in which to find work in their preferred field.

From today?

They have four weeks.

Apparently?   The idea is to get the half a million new vacancies filled, quickly.

The article doesn’t say what happens if these new job seekers don’t find a job.

Nor does it say what happens if companies don’t want to hire them: these no mention of tax breaks, for example.

Nor does it mention what rules changes apply for those of us who have been unemployed for some time.

It’s possibly something my case worker will tell me about, the next time we met.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-1-2016

I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go … !

No …

That’s possibly not the best thing to start with.

I think …

I’m very aware that Britain’s Prime Minister — Theresa May — is due to meet US President, Donald Trump.

I’m …

Concerned.

I voted remain, in the Brexit referendum: feeling Britain’s place in the world was improved by having close ties with Europe.

And by keeping a certain arm’s — with apologies to US born, regular Debbi — a certain arm’s length from US policy.

Things like the Iraq War?   Were done in George’s Bush’s name, not mine.

So seeing that meeting is happening?

And, like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, before him, that we have a US president enamoured of a UK leader, but who will put US national interests above those of the UK’s … ?

Is worrying.

There’s an argument that says our membership of the EU meant handing over two much control to foreign powers.

I feel a close relationship between May and Trump?

Represents a similar issue: we’d be handing to much control to a US government.

And is unhealthy for the UK.

The Daily Teaser — 27-1-2016

Ah-HA!

I’ve done it!

I’ve officially sold the laptop I was selling.   To a local hairdresser, to be honest, and for a reasonable good price.

Enough for Ruth to get an amount of cash she was happy with.

And for me to treat myself to take out fish chips and a movie.

It’s all good!
