Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th November, 2020.

7th November, 2020.

I’ve got to admit, the start of the day … ?

Sees me feeling rather saddened.

I got news yesterday that Phil — an old school friend — had died, this week: of liver cancer.

He was ten days younger than me.

He’d developed arthritis in his early teens: and had needed at least one kidney replaced as a result of years worth of medication for the condition.

More recently?

He’d started dialysis.

I’m …

I’m tempted to use the word devastated.

But will settle for extremely saddened.

Phil was that rarest of things: a genuinely nice, decent man.

The fact we’d lost touch, over the years?

Is now compounded: by a permanent loss.

I can only offer a prayer or two.

And my condolence to his family.

You know, I’m working on another piece for Phoenix FM: and planning to write about crime in the area.

I’m possibly going to have to do a list of tips, at some point.

Including some sort of cyber tips.

I know that’s going to be relevant.

Another old friend managed to get hacked, last night.

I became aware of it … when she apparently sent me a couple of videos …

That lead to a fake Facebook* login page.

I’ve done my usual thing: and heavily suggested she change her password.

Any other suggestions … ?

Would be appreciated.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5-6-2019: World Environment Day

5th June, 2019.

You know, it’s not often I say this: and not often I repeat it.

But something I highlighted, last night?

Was something Apple are doing.

In an announcement, a couple of days ago, they waved the new MacPro at people: yes, I’d love one.

With the wheels, thank you … !

In a separate announcement?

They announced they’re going to be dissolving iTunes on the Mac: and replacing it with three separate apps.

Hmmm …

I’m …

Well, I covered this in further detail in last night’s post about El Ministerio del Tiempo.

But it boils down to this.

I’ve a large media library: what happens to that, when the change comes?

And will I still be able to use the replacements to do that?

There’s other questions: highlighted by a friend, last night.

What on Earth happens to those of us with classic iPods: or olde model iPads, or iPhones … ?

I don’t know.

Frankly?

I’m concerned.

The Daily Teaser — 22-4-2016: Earth Day

Good lord …

Prince has died …

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in the 1970s and was a teen during the 1980s.

And, back then?

Back then, you couldn’t move for music released by Michael Jackson, Madonna …

And Prince …

I’ve never been a huge music fan.

But Prince?

If he HADN’T released something you liked, you’re possibly less of a music fan than I am.

A catalogue that extensive, was going to have something — quite literally — for everyone.

~≈Â≈~

Personally … ?

I must admit to one thing that’s bothered me, about Prince’s death.

Just one.

He died at the age of 57.

57.

These days?

That’s no age, at all.

Especially when you consider that yesterday was ALSO the Queen’s 90th birthday.

THAT’S what’s bothering me.

57 — like 62, the age at which comedian, Victoria Wood, recently died of cancer — is hardly any age at all.

I know the man recently collapsed.

And have to ask …

What on Earth killed Prince at the age of 57.

It’s not young.

But Prince has died at 57.

His prime.

What the hell happened?

I want to hear the results of that post-mortem!
