Were you ever much of a fan of the Smiths? The band?
I wasn’t.
Although I did buy a few of their early singles. Morrissey and Marr managed to turn out some great indie pop.
Unfortunately? Morrissey, the former Smiths frontman, has express some sympathy for former English Defence leader, Tommy Robinson. AND for right wing party, For Britain: led by former UKIP member, Anne Marie Waters.
He’s made one or two similar comments, before hand.
Not something I’d’ve expected from the world’s best known animal rights activist and vegan.
But given that?
I’m not surprised he’s cancelled some upcoming tour dates.
Theresa May, the Prime Minister, has officially condemned various shades of tech company.
Along with others in her government, she’s criticised both social media, and companies that use end to end encryption, for allowing radicals a ‘safe space,’ in which to plan.
OK, I can appreciate that …
But Ian Duncan Smith made — completely unintentionally — a minor point: in an Andrew Marr show interview, yesterday.
He said words to the effect of “Parents don’t know what their children are doing, online.”
Now, yes: tech companies could be doing more.
But what are we as parents doing to keep our children away from radicalisation?
You?
Me?
The family next door?
If the answer’s “I don’t know what they’re up to,” or “I don’t know how to use a computer”?
I managed to catch this week’s episode of Dr Who, last night: The Lie of the Land.
And couldn’t help but notice the 1984 references.
After all, the monks base is a giant pyramid with ‘Truth’ written all over it, whose controllers are keeping the boiler-suited population oppressed by re-writing history: complete with ‘Memory’ police enforcing it.
Was that I managed to catch a movie: although I don’t know whether I was impressed with Nosferatu*: but I CAN say I’ve seen it.

I wrote, yesterday, that one man had been prosecuted for selling what’s called ‘fully loaded’ Kodi boxes.
In a follow up piece?
We see that the Premier League has managed to get a court order: to clamp down on the servers that are broadcast illegally streamed matches.
Given how Kodi boxes operate?
My biggest concern is the knock on effect.
I’m concerned that researchers and developers won’t necessarily have the legal manoeuvring room to do their jobs properly.
Doing what the League’s done, and trying to block what the servers are doing? Rather than the writers of the add-ons, the sellers of the boxes, or the people that buy or use them?
Which is handy. Frankly, I’ve been writing Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar for some time: and thoroughly enjoying it.
But do like having the time to both write the #Teasers, and to produce the slideshows that go with them.
What’s more … ? I’ve been borrowing an old friend’s library of Dr Who DVDs: so I can rebuild my digital collection.
I’ve just finished the Sylvester McCoy/Paul McGann episodes: which means I can rip the DVDs I’ve recently had delivered, and add them.
Frankly … ? I’m looking forward, once that’s done, to catching Aaagh! It’s The Mr Hell Show. But I’ve ALSO got series two of House of Cards in the mix.
