Yep: it’s true.

I had a dream, last night: after watching Invasion of The Bodysnatchers.

It was a weird old thing, too.

I was trapped, on the floor of a lift: a jammed lift.

With something horrible — I got the impression it was female — trying to get through the door.

And very aware that I had to keep really still: otherwise whatever it was would seriously get me.

It was that unnerving … ?

I actually woke up.

And was able to send myself a just about coherent email about it.

At twenty to four in the morning.

Tell me … 

Have you got any idea what the hell THAT was about … ?

That’s one quick point.

Over the past few months, many Western governments have decided to stop using Huawei kit in various infrastructure projects.

Western governments … apart from the UK.

I’ve always felt governments should encourage their own IT sectors in various ways: infrastructure, operating systems*, what have you.

The UK’s government has always seemed slow to act on that front.

However?

It turns out that BT is to remove Huawei kit from the telecommunications network it’s building for Britain’s emergency services: and that others have their doubts about using Huawei parts for Britain’s 5g mobile network.

Frankly?

I’m glad to hear it.

Just as long as Huawei isn’t replaced by Ericsson …

Star Wars: The Last Jedi — Hmmm …

You know, I’ve not got that much in terms of time off, over the Christmas period.

I try and socialise, where possible.

But also try and spend time with my family.

Especially around Christmas time.

We visited my aunty, last week, for example.

Today … ?

Today, was all about my two sisters, Anna and Ruth, and my nephew, Jude.

And sweeties: jelly babies and revels and Percy Pigs, sneakily sneaked into the cinema.

Why?

Well, we fancied a movie.

A very specific movie.

You’d guessed by the posters, hadn’t you … ?

That’s right: Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-4-2017: Star Wars

You know, in the midst of all the news about Manchester?

In the midst of the blast, the shrapnel, the arrests … ?

It’s very easy to overlook the fact that the second actor to play James Bond — Sir Roger Moore — has died.

I don’t know about you, but I saw The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker at the cinema: and enjoyed Moore’s self deprecating, but very knowing take on the character.

And I’m very aware that most actors have taken their cue from Connery’s version, Pierce Brosnan, in particular, took his from Moore.

He’ll be missed.

Just as a quick aside … ?

I’ve just seen a preview clip fro this week’s upcoming episode of Dr Who: The Pyramid at the End of the World.

And have a confession: I find the Monks’ mouth action when talking vague — very vaguely, I’ll confess — reminiscent of someone else.

But, here, there you go … !

Did I mention there’s local elections on in the UK?

Today … ?

There’s local elections on, today.

And … ?

Yes, I’m intent on voting: Green, if you’re asking.   I’m just a little too disillusioned with the Liberal Democrats, not yet convinced by Labour, and couldn’t vote Tory if you paid me.

Well … 

You could pay me.   But it would have to be serious money, and that still wouldn’t guarantee it!

At ANY rate … ?

It’s Polling Day.

And I’m a little concerned.

You’re supposed to get a polling card: that tells you where your polling station is, and helps identify you.

It’s not necessarily need: but does come in handy as a reminder.

Mine hasn’t turned up.

Hopefully, I won’t need it, will be able to vote, and that there’s been a simple cock-up at the council offices.

But I’m also wondering if we STILL have an issue with mail theft …

Good Gods!

I’ve got the news on ... and the BBC’s news channel has just announced the death of Star Wars star, Carrie Fisher.

I don’t know about you, but that film, and her part in it, were a big part of my childhood.

AND, I think, the reason why science fiction are now so huge.

I’m quietly shocked and saddened to hear the news: after all, I — like many, I suspect — were hoping she’d recover from her recent heart attack.

The woman who touched so many, AND help change the face of science fiction … ?

Will be missed.

The Daily Teaser — 9-4-2016

You know, I got home, last night.

Did my usual thing of going to bed … 

And did my equally usual thing of waking up, this morning.

And found out that that the Reverand Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, is a bastard.

No, literally.   It turns out that his reverence had a family best described as confused. His mother had an affair with a chap she worked with: who turned out to be the last Private Secretary to Winston Churchill.

Stars Felicity Jones as main character, Jyn Erso.

Who turns out to have been playing Emma Grundy in The Archers for many years.

Amazing what you find out, listening to Radio Four.

You know, it’s Christmas.

Or, at least, it’s BEEN Christmas.   I was only saying, this morning, how I felt the holiday period was over for another year.

Well … 

With the possible exception of New Year’s Day, maybe.

At ANY rate … ?

Courtesy of Anna, the older of my two sisters, she, I and our other sister, Ruth — Jude’s mum, in other words — had one last Christmas present to unwrap.

Tickets to see a movie.

Not just any old movie, either.

The one in the poster.   The one that’s made a billion in the fastest possible time.

Possibly the most heavily awaited film of the year.

Star Wars:The Force Awakens.

And, yes … I’m thinking ‘Nice’ is the word …

But I bumped into an old family friend, on Saturday: one I’d not seen for some years.   And didn’t think to ask for contact details.

I can’t get her face out of my head.

Quite what’s happening there, I don’t know.

I think I know what’s happening: I’m blowed if I’m telling you … !

Either way … ?

It’s been bothering me for a week.

Quite probably?   It’ll bother me for a while.

Remember me saying I’ve had a headache for the past few days?   A rather nasty — and persistent — migraine.

Thankfully … ?

Thankfully, I managed to beg/borrow/steal some migraine  pills off my mum: ones which worked very well.
