Two things are officially official.

One … ?

I’ve almost finished a review of “Hegemony, Pt 2”, the first episode of the new series of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

That should be up, tonight.

Secondly?

It’s raining, out.

And we’re expecting thunderstorms.

I hope we get those.

Yes, I realise there’s weather warnings for the area.

But … ?

I’ve not seen a good thunderstorm in years.

They’re one of nature’s marvels.

It seems the US president has asked for documents relating to sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, to be released.

Including what’s known as a ‘client list’, a list of noted people who Epstein’s said to have arranged liaisons for,

These, apparently, include the President.

If there is such a list?

That should be released.

And the President considering his position.

I have to ask one thing, though.

Wasn’t he supposed to be draining the swamp … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-7-2025 — Waterloo

11th July, 2025: Waterloo.

It’s not often I start a post with ‘Hmmm … ’

But I’m going To start this one with ‘Hmmm … ’.

Hmmm … 

Why have I started it like that?

Because I saw some news, yesterday.

That tells me the Royal Mail, the service that delivers our post, has been given regulator approval: to reduce the number of second-class deliveries, per week.

From the six days a week it now operates under, to five days a week over the course of ten working days.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, one week, and Tuesday and Thursday, the next.

Hmmm … again … 

I can appreciate why the Royal Mail is doing this.

It’s an effort to keep costs down.

I both understand, and appreciate, that.

But … ?

I get a lot of mail from various places: usually medically linked, but occasionally from other sources.

These are usually sent by second class post: as that’s cheaper.

My concern … ?

Is simply that this reduced service will mean delays in getting important medical information.

And increased cost to the National Health Service: when they use first class post for urgent mail.

What is a body to do … ?

When I work that out, I’ll let you know!

As you’re very aware, by now, I’ve been watching the US series, Max Headroom, over the past few days.

And been playing a game I call Actor Spotting whilst watching it.

I spot an actor I know … and give myself a pat on the back for recognising them.

Thus far?   I’ve caught Robert O’Reilly and Rosalind Chao — Gowron and Keiko O’Brian from Star Trek — and W. Morgan Sheppard — Mark Sheppard’s dad — as Blank Reg*.

Who, along side Max himself, gets some of the funnier lines.

When I watched last night’s episode, “Dream Thieves”, it didn’t take me long to recognise Jenette Goldstein — Private Vasquez, from Aliens — as a villainous TV executive.

Granted, the series could do with remastering for blu-ray: the DVD version, the only version I could find on Amazon, has seriously ropey picture quality.

But … ?

I’ve got a fun game I can play, whilst watching the show.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2023 — An ‘L’ of a Trip.

6th June, 2023: “The ‘L’”.

Yes: it’s Tuesday.

Which means, of course, that my nephew’s over later.

So you can expect more videos, this afternoon.

And evening!   I watched the next episode of The Mandalorian, last night.

You can expect that, too.

OK: I’m something of a Mac fan*.

So very aware they’ve announced a lot of new stuff.

Including the Vision Pro, their premium headset.

Which looks nice.

But what caught my eye?

Was the new MacPro: which looks — to my untrained eye — like a good successor to the last Intel machine.

But I’m no industry pro: not someone who could tell you otherwise.

I AM aware the new (base) Pro costs £7, 199: roughly £1, 500 more that the previous base model.

But, where the previous, fully specced, version would cost up to £55, 000?

This new one would cost around £13, 000.

More than I’d see in a year, I know that: but cheaper for the sort of people who’d be buying it.

The new version also looks like it would have a far more powerful graphics capability … but a lot less maximum RAM.

We’ll have to see how well it the new one does with the movie studios it’s designed for.

Hmmm …

Now THERE’s a thing …

I don]t know if you’ve actually saw that article, when it floated across the BBC’s news website, earlier, but I did.

Seemingly … ?

Seemingly, Alex Attwood, the environment minister for Northern Ireland, wants to introduce legislation to lower the amount of alcohol that drivers can legally have in their bloodstreams.

Smooth move, I’m thinking.

I don’t know about where you are, but the UK as a whole has a noticeably higher limit than most of Europe.

While I don’t drive — or even drink, these days — I can’t help but thinks that’s a good thing.

Ex-barman that I am, there’s plenty of times I’ve seen customers head off — in their cars — having had an amount that I believe would be over the limit: but never in a position to say anything.

Here’s hoping something similar goes through in the rest of the UK.
