Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-8-2025 — World Lake Day. (Ten questions.)

27th August, 2025: World Lake Day.

Right, then: it’s Wednesday.

And I have to go back into town.

Because … ?

The test strips — and associated lancets — won’t turn up until today.

At the earliest … !

Don’t you just love bank holiday hold-ups … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August 2024.

27th August, 2024.

It’s now no longer a public holiday!

Which means … ?

It’s no longer a public holiday.

Which is nice: it means the buses are no longer running a Sunday service.

Gosh, the excitement!

~≈🚍≈~

Occasionally … ?

I’ll have the news on.

And … ?

I notice that Australia’s now introduced a Right to Disconnect law: a law that allows Australian workers the right to refuse a call from work, after hours.

I don’t know if the UK has anything similar.

But think it should: I’ve had a few calls like that, myself.

~≈📞≈~

Just as an extra piece of news … ?

The famously fractious Gallagher brothers — Noel and Liam — have announced they’re to re-form Oasis*: the band that made them famous.

Why … ?

No-one knows.

But I did hear talk that says Noel’s in the midst of a messy divorce.

If that’s that case?

Well … he’s got to raise the alimony payments, somehow … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August 2023.

27th August, 2023.

Right … it’s officially Sunday.

And the day before a bank holiday.

At times like this … ?

I end up wishing benefits paid time and a half: as jobs do on bank holidays.

It would half come in useful!

Oh, just as an extra thought?

I caught the first episode of Good Omens’ second season on Friday.

It’s rather good: so good, I reviewed it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August, 2022.

27th August, 2022.

Hmmm …

YouTube’s a mystery.

No, really.

It’s just taken twenty minutes to upload today’s Teaser video: compared to the usual five.

Beyond telling you it hung at ninety-five percent processing for a long time … ?

I couldn’t tell you what was going on!

~≈🎥≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Saturday.

And … ?

Frankly, I’ve just enough cash to do some shopping: and thinking buying the makings of a chilli con carne could be something.

Frankly?

I might add a dollop of Marmite.

It’s not like I’m running out …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-8-2021: Gein.

27th August, 2021.

Yep: I’ve got a hygienist appointment, today.

This afternoon, in fact.

I’m …

Well, happy to be getting out of the house, frankly.

And getting a good clean.

I’m just not sure about the weather.

~≈Ü≈~

Oh … It’s the 27th August.

You’d noticed.

You’d possibly also noticed I like a movie, occasionally: with Censor being the most recent I’d seen.

I’ve also been aware of an updated version of Candyman in the works: which is due out, today.

I’ll have to see if ot’s on a Video on Demand service: it looks interesting.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August, 2020.

27th August, 2020.

Right …

It’s vaguely official: I’ve left a message with my case worker at the Job Centre, telling him what’s gone on with the Shaw Trust’s refusal of my funding request.

I’m not happy about that.

I’m not expecting the Job Centre to be able to do much, either: but I’d’ve got the thing off of my chest!

~≈Ω≈~

I’ve also got to admit, I had my nephew, Jude, over, yesterday.

Hence the mention — in today’s video intro — of silly.

I know it’s daft, but that Comic Ink filter does get a laugh.

Especially when you add silly intros.

No: I don’t know what a Ghillie suit is, either.

Just as a thought?

David Tennant, the 10th Doctor, is to star in an upcoming docu-drama, Des: in September.

I was fascinated by serial killers, when I was a teenager.

Growing up when the Yorkshire Ripper was on the prowl, learning about Jack the Ripper at the same time, and reading about Dennis Nilson — the killer that Des tells the story of— at the time of the original trial?

And read Killing for Company, the biography?

How could I not?

Seeing the trailer float across my timeline?   Seeing how unnervingly like the real thing Tennant looked?

Well … ?

I’m interested.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August, 2019

27th August, 2019.

Yes: it’s true.

I’ve officially gone over the top with that intro!

Possibly!

At any rate?

It’s another early start for me.

And, thankfully?

One that’s a four hour shift: rather than the eight hour ones I’ve been doing.

That’s good, as far as I’m concerned.

It means I can get home … and go back to bed!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th August, 2018

27th August, 2018.

Arrgh!

I hate that!

Sorry about inflicting my singing on you.

But that bloodsoddi

Dratted …

Dratted Baby Shark meme has been banging around my head for a week!

Politics …

Politics, politics, politics …

I really do try to not get involved with politics.

But … ?

I voted Remain in the Brexit referendum, back in the day.

I believe staying in the EU is a good thing for the UK: and that leaving, as we will in March, next year, to be the stupidest thing the UK has done.

There’s others.

I don’t know if you knew about the Black Arrow project: but it was a British designed satellite carrier.

That got cancelled.

On budget grounds.

After four launches.

We’re the only country to have abandoned a satellite launch capacity.

AND to have abandoned a potential spaceport.

With most British rocketry experiments being done by commercial companies: the only ones willing to put up the money.

As a result of Brexit, though?

We’ll be pulling out of the Galileo satellite navigation project.

And — so the government tells us — will be investing in our own satellite navigation project.

Personally?

Given our government’s history, I believe it will put out of that project by 2022.

The only way to have any kind of involvement in large scale space project?

Is to stay in the EU.
