Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2026 — Stranded at the Drive In

6th June, 2026: Drive-In Saturday.

Right … it’s officially Saturday: and I’m bored and frustrated!

Bored … as it’s the weekend.

I’ve been persistently trying to contact BT: to re-arrange my broadband connection.

I managed to contact them, yesterday.

To find that my original request hadn’t gone through, as they had me listed at the wrong address: Number one, instead of number two.

And that they would be contacting me this coming Friday, to give me a date for the upgrade.

That’s …

Frustrating.

Especially as it’s now the weekend: which means I have to wait until Monday, before I can chase this up!

Arrrgh!

~≈🛜≈~

The other frustrating thing … ?

My Mac’s seems to be stuck in a permanent bout of overheating: something seemingly caused — according to the bundled Activity Monitor app — by a process called corespotlightd.

As per suggestions on Apple’s Community Support pages, installing Macs Fan Controls seems to help deal with the temperature.

But is dealing with a symptom — the overheating — rather than the problem: which, as far as I can see, is how the Mac’s Spotlight feature deals with the location of Pages files.

I get the impression this is going to take a long time to solve …

Yesterday was sad: as the death of actor, Anthony Stewart Head: best remembered as Giles, in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, as Uther Pendragon in Merlin, and from a series of coffee adverts, back in the day.

Apparently?

He died of complications of pneumonia, at the age of seventy-two.

It’s sad … especially as — from the little I know — the condition is eminently treatable … !

It’s … well …

Sad …

The man will be much missed.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2025 — UN Russian Language Day

6th June, 2025: UN Russian Language Day.

Isn’t always the thing … ?

You take a medication — Mounjaro, in my case — once a week.

And almost forget to take it … until you make a video intro for a blog post, that reminds you to take it.

Heigh-ho!

~≈💉≈~

Which reminds me … the BBC had a news piece, yesterday.

Apparently?

We’re advised — if we’re female and either pregnant or trying for a baby — to stop using weight loss jabs, like Mounjaro,

I’m not going to worry for myself.

I’m male, for a start!

But … ?

It’s an interesting piece to see.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2024 — D-Day

6th June, 2024: D-Day.

Yay!   It’s Thursday!

Possibly going ‘YAY’ is possibly not appropriate … given it’s also the D-Day anniversary.

That’s possibly something I should have mentioned to my nephew, Jude, yesterday: after all, his grandfather’s step-dad was one of the troops that landed, that day.

You never think to mention these things, do you … ?

At any rate?

Yes: Jude’s managed to post another video: an FA Cup final.

Feel free to hit the ‘Like’ button: and mention Ernie Mills.

~≈¥≈~

I watch election news: you’d possibly guessed.

So I know that the current PM, Rishi Sunak, has been accused of lying about Labour’s tax plans.

Or, at the very least, inventing Labour’s figures: despite warnings about it from the relevant permanent secretary.

On top of that … ?

They’ve received a substantial donation from a man called Frank Hester: known to have used several derogatory terms about Labour MP, Diane Abbott.

The fact they’re getting a backlash from at least one constituency — about overruling local party candidate processes — is completely incidental.

That last piece?

Really doesn’t make the Tories sound democratic, does it … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2023 — An ‘L’ of a Trip.

6th June, 2023: “The ‘L’”.

Yes: it’s Tuesday.

Which means, of course, that my nephew’s over later.

So you can expect more videos, this afternoon.

And evening!   I watched the next episode of The Mandalorian, last night.

You can expect that, too.

~≈®≈~

OK: I’m something of a Mac fan*.

So very aware they’ve announced a lot of new stuff.

Including the Vision Pro, their premium headset.

Which looks nice.

But what caught my eye?

Was the new MacPro: which looks — to my untrained eye — like a good successor to the last Intel machine.

But I’m no industry pro: not someone who could tell you otherwise.

I AM aware the new (base) Pro costs £7, 199: roughly £1, 500 more that the previous base model.

But, where the previous, fully specced, version would cost up to £55, 000?

This new one would cost around £13, 000.

More than I’d see in a year, I know that: but cheaper for the sort of people who’d be buying it.

The new version also looks like it would have a far more powerful graphics capability … but a lot less maximum RAM.

We’ll have to see how well it the new one does with the movie studios it’s designed for.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th June, 2022.

6th June, 2022.

It’s Monday: and the day after the Jubilee celebrations.

A day to start new things.

To do stuff!   Shop!   Run up and down the High Street in a mankini!   Have a Vote of No Confidence!

And … ?

And, frankly, to moan about the fact it’s raining out!

Lovely!

~≈Ê≈~

Talking of votes?

Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister, is facing a Vote of Confidence, this evening.

I’m hoping that — if he loses that vote — he’s face a leadership challenge.

My personal preference?   Is that he wins: then loses any subsequent General Election.

Even though I know that’s going to be a tough call: against a government with a large parliamentary majority.

If he loses the Confidence Vote?   He faces a leadership challenge.

Again, I prefer he win that: and lose the next General Election.

If he loses a leadership challenge?

Any replacement as Leader — and Prime Minister — would reshuffle the Cabinet: and presumably replace Rishi Sunak as Chancellor.

I don’t know if the Chancellor’s formally signed off on the extra help promised to those of us in need.

And would rather he wasn’t replaced, until that’s formalised.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th June, 2021

6th May, 2021.

Right …

I’ve officially finished the most recent batch of Teaser videos.

Those will be going live as and when: I hope you enjoy them!

At any rate … ?

I’ve finished those: and have a little time for myself.

That means … ?

Well, I’ve time to job hunt, do a little more work for the blog, and a few other bits and bobs.

Once that’s done … ?

I really have to think about setting up the new laptop.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2020: I Am Not A Number … !

6th June, 2020.

Yep: it’s official: I’ve forgotten to mention something.

The library’s re-opening!

Ahem!

Let’s get a little restrained, there, shall we?

Over the past few weeks, libraries in Essex have been closed down: as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

However, with Lockdown easing?

It seems a small number of libraries in Essex will be re-opening: from 6th July.

Mostly ones — like Brentwood’s — that have also home registry offices.

Frankly?

I’m looking forward to that.

It’d be nice to use the laptop … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2019: D-Day

6th June, 2019.

Yep: it’s officially D-Day.

It’s ALSO officially the day I’ll be looking after my nephew, Jude.

I think we can safely say the word ‘pizza’ is going to be involved somewhere.

As is Jelly, Slogoman and Kwebbelkop …

Oy Veh … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2017: UN Russian Language Day

Well …

I wondered what happened, there?

As you’ve possibly worked out, I’ve been writing this blog for quite some time.

Usually?

There’s a clickable link at the bottom of each post, that says Read More.

It’s been there for a while.

Until yesterday: when it vanished.

Lord knows what happened there: I think Google were playing silly buggers.

I’ve managed to correct that.

The link?   Is now back.

Here’s hoping it sticks … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2016

Ever so slowly … ?

Slowly, but ever so frequently …

I am yawning: enough to make me worry that my head’s going to drop off.

Yep …

I’m up early, again.

And this time … ?

This time, it’s because I have to catch a bus to Basildon: to get to a hospital appoint, at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, for an ultrasound on my kidneys.

I’m concerned: not so much by the ultrasound scan.

But more by the bus journey.   If I’ve got that correct, I need to get the #9 to Basildon Town centre, then get the #100 to the hospital, itself.

I’m concerned.

I’ve been to Basildon, and look forward to the trip: but have never gone beyond the town centre.

I just hope I can find the blessed place!

~≈†≈~

Now, JUST as a final point?

I’m in the UK: as you may have realised.

In a couple of weeks time, we in the UK will be voting whether or not to remain in the EU: possibly the most important vote in a generation.

I will — point blank — refuse to tell you how to vote.

I’ve still not made my mind up, myself.

But know this.

If you haven’t registered to vote, by tomorrow, you won’t be able to vote in the referendum on the 23rd.

You can register online, herehttps://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

I’d hate to see Britain make the wrong choice …

Because of a low turn-out.
