Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2025 — Ludwig van Beethoven (Ten Questions)

17th December, 2025: Ludwig.

Yes: it’s official.

I’ve finished my review of “The Deep”, the third episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea.

Hopefully, that’ll get a few views: despite the spoiler warning … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2024 — Bhutan

17th December, 2024: Bhutan.

You know, I was going to tell you I’ve started reading Neonomicon: a work by writer Alan Moore, and artist Jacen Burrows.

It looks suitably hard-boiled: and would possibly grab the attention of Old Peculiar regular, Debbi Mack.

I was going to tell you that a neighbour had popped in on Sunday evening: and an interesting evening was had.

Which would possibly get me a look from Olga Núñez Miret, and my mother, the other regulars, here.

Instead … ?
  • I’m going to tell you I have a working boiler thermostat: after I manfully, and wonderfully, replaced the thing’s batteries.
  • I’m going to tell you I’ve got the electric fan heater on.
  • I’ve got lots of steam in my flat.
Because?

I’m boiling lots of water for a bath: as my boiler’s packed up!

I’ve got an emergency repair on order.

Which should — apparently — be with me ‘within twenty-four hours’.

Ho-bloody-hum!

Nik Nak's Daily Teaser — 17th December 2023

17th December, 2023.

It's got to be said: I owe my online friends -- and my family -- a huge thank you.

Thank you, everyone!

Especially regular commenter, Debbi: whose contribution to my iMac repair fund came through, this morning!

Cheers, Debbi!

Hopefully?

Come Friday, when the repair is due to be finished, those contributions will be money well spent!

I caught the first episode of The Mayfair Witches, on the iPlayer, last night.

That first episode?

Tonally, it was ever so slightly The Witches of Eastwick meets Dynasty: but entertaining enough.

So I thought I'd watch the second episode.

The cast of the opening scenes?   Of the few minutes I saw?

Had just about acceptable Irish accents: just about acceptable, Hollywood Irish accents.

Perfectly acceptable, Hollywood Irish accepts.

Apart from one small, minor, trivial, detail.

No, seriously, a minor detail.

The scene was set in Scotland.

I turned off.

Understandably!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th December 2022

17th December, 2022.

I think I’m going to have a bit of a rant.

A mild one, if you will.

You’re aware that social media site, Twitter, has recently been bought by Elon Musk.

Who’s made all sorts of changes: many of which have not gone down well.

He banned various journalists, yesterday, was criticised by both the UN and EU … then reinstated the offending pressmen.

They’d been banned for sharing links from an account that used publicly filed flight plans, that tracked his private jet.

Something that concerned me — and others — far more directly?

Is that the Elon controlled Twitter has now declared links to rival social network, Mastodon, to be spam.

Personally?

I’ll give the man credit for making electric cars a viable business, and a viable option for families.

And for reinstating the journalists.

But that last move … ?

That last move seems a little petty.

Now …

I’m on Mastodon as @Cuddy2977@mastodon.world.

If you’re interested …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2021: The Saturnalia

17th December, 2021.

Yes: today’s a Friday … and I’m off to weigh loss meeting, this afternoon.

I’m always nervous about these things: have I or haven’t I, lost any weight?

I hope it’s the latter.

Walking all that way has to count for something … !

In amongst all the news?   Including by-election wins, Omicron going everywhere, and LOTS of other stuff?

I noticed there’d been a house fire in Sutton: in which four children died.

The cause is now ‘under investigation.’

I hope so.

I’d like to know what’s killed four children under five.

And if I do … ?

I’d imagine the parents would, too!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th December, 2020

17th December, 2020

Just when you think it can’t get any odder … ?

Or possibly worse?

Or frustrating?

It gets odder, worse or more frustrating.

You’ll know, of course, I’ve signed up for an online European Computer Driving License course: a computer literacy course.

I’ve finally managed to borrow a Windows based laptop from my landlord, and get the relevant extensions installed: and find it’s got a copy of Microsoft Office.

Only to find out that — when I tried doing the initial tests — that I need to sign up for a Microsoft Office  account, in order to do them!

I …

Well, it’s not something I really want to do.

I have three email addresses, an Apple ID, signed up for lord knows how many job sites, and company career sites: along site more social media sites than I’m going to admit to!

Another account?   For whoever short a time?

Is something  I’d rather not have.

At least, not without knowing how to cancel it*!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th December, 2019.

17th December, 2019

You know, I’ve done most of my Christmas cards: and got them posted.

Written, stamped, posted and hopefully on the way to their respective destinations.

Bar a few I can hand deliver, that’s that lot done.

Now … ?

All I have to do is wrap up Xmas presents.

I just hope I’ve still got some Sellotape.

Someone’s getting a great big pile of stuff …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th December, 2018.

17th December, 2018.

Yep: I’ve spotted a thing.

One that’s a wossname for do-dah!

In other words?

I’ve been mulling over being able to do basic green screen work with iMovie: where you record a scene in front of a green or blue screen, then replace the green/blue bits.

I’ve spotted the ideal thing for it, too: an office partition that’s being sold on Amazon.

And wouldn’t you know it … ?

I’m skint!

If any offices in Brentwood have got something similar they want getting rid of?

For minimal cash?

I’d happily give it a home … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2017: Gis A Job

Right …

It’s a Sunday that I’ve got off!

Yay … !

Says I, vaguely aware I sound like a cheerleader!

At any rate … it’s a Sunday off … that means we get to visit my aunty Bella, down in Kent: which got cancelled, last week, because of the weather.

It ALSO gives me a chance to drop off some presents with Grandma, before a certain young man realises Santa is Grandma shaped!

Here’s hoping it goes well.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2016

Bugger …

I hate it when my IBS acts up.

I was working, last night.

And got hit by a rather painful flare up.

I’m thankful I’ve got a sympathetic bunch of bosses: who let me go home, early.

But, boy …

That’s something I’ve come to loath.
