OK: it’s officially Sunday, I’ve started typing this post at 8·15 … and it looks like today is going to be overcast.

Which would make a pleasant change, I think.

Or, at least, take the edge off of the persistent heat.

I can only hope the rain the BBC’s weather page is predicting for Tuesday, turns up.

The rain is going to be much needed.

There’s possibly a universe where I’d feel comfortable voting for Nigel Farage’s Reform party.

Possibly.

In this one … ?

There’s no possibility what-so-ever.

Especially as Reform have announced they will be cutting the welfare bill by some £50 billion.

As a person on benefits?

I know — know, not feel — this would directly myself, and many of my friends.

Frankly?

The means the chance of my voting Reform goes from zero … to considerably less.

Right … I have to admit, I still hurt: after falling over, the other day.

But … ?

I think I’ll survive: bar the sore bits!

I mentioned yesterday, that I’d asked a charity called Peabody for help with my PIP claim.

And that they hadn’t phoned me back, to make that appointment.

They did, eventually.

About five minutes after I posted yesterday’s Teaser!

Roll on next Thursday: that’s when the appointment is …

Talking of the PIP claim?   Or, at least, the Mandatory Reconsideration I’ve put in for … ?

The Department of Work and Pensions have — literally — just text messaged me.

Apparently?

They’ll be letting me know their decision by 26/9/2023.

I’ll be glad to hear, one way or the other …

Right … it’s officially Tuesday!   Which means I’ve got my nephew, Jude, over, later.

I’m in the process of trying to claim Personal Independence Payments, or PIP.

The online form … ?

Is due to be submitted by the 19th of this month.

I try and follow the news: just in case something interesting crops up.

Something has.

It seems the Government is introducing legislation: that means those of us on certain benefits can ask an Internet Service Provider to check that we are eligible for the social tariffs they offer.

It’s something I know BT already does: as I’ve taken advantage of it, myself.

But?

Legislating — or, at least, regulating — for it?

In a way that means ISPs have to check, rather that claimants have to prove?

Means that — hopefully — more people will be able to get online.

Yes: I’ve got Radio Four on in the background.

And … ?   Amongst other things, they’ve been reporting on England’s recent win: in the recent game against Australia.

OK, it makes a change from Brexit.

But personally, I’m not a fan … !

Yes: it’s true … 

The Queen of Pop — Madonna Louise Ciccone — officially turned sixty today.

I’m not an particular fan, I have to say.

But have to give the Material Girl credit.   She’s a good performer, she’s knocked out some very good pop tunes: my favourites get a look-in, in today’s Daily Teaser

And is possibly the savviest business woman in the industry.

Possibly one of the best business people, all round.

You don’t have a thirty-five year career in the music, without being clued up.

The day’s got a sad side, too.

The Queen of Soul died, today.

Aretha … 

There is literally nothing I can say or do to describe how her voice made the hair on the back of my arms stands on end: beyond saying she was the first of only a few singers who could make the hair on the back of my arms stand on end.



The only fit way of remember the best voice in modern popular music?

At any rate … ?   Today has been a day off: one of mixed emotions … and extreme dampness.

Yep: I went and picked up medication …

I had something to watch.

Gosh, the excitement, hey?

At any rate … ?   I’ve recently started a course of statins: dicky heart and all that!

And have to say, I do seem to be feeling less chest pain as a result.

We’ll have to see.

We know — know — that the new series of Dr Who is due to start airing in October.

Right at the moment?

We still have no formal airdate: although I’m told speculation has pointed at the 13th.

We’ll have to see.

The wait’s frustrating, though.

I have to admit, I’m back to work, today.

I’m looking forward to it, frankly.

But … ?

I’m also very aware that I stayed in, last night: watching a movie.

Ghost in the Shell, so you know.

Hmmm … 

It’s got to be said, it’s a great looking thing.

I’m not convinced it’s a good film, though.

It’s  a bit of a mess, frankly.
