It’s official: I’ve got my bath towels washing.

Which you possibly didn’t want to know.

Frankly, I’ve put them through, a day or two earlier.

Because of spaghetti.

I made a batch of spaghetti sauce, last night.

And, as I usually do, made sure I filled the sink: so I could clean some utensils as I went.

And … ?

And, I hear you ask … ?

I took my eye off the metaphorical board.

And ended up with a soaked floor: that need two towels to mop up!

I’m jobhunting: you’ve possibly noticed, if you’ve been following me for a while.

So you’re aware that — like others in my shoes — my budget’s tight.

The £20 uplift to Universal Credit, for example, is bloody helpful: but due to end in September.

So news that’s cropped up today. that Ofgem, the UK’s energy regulator, has effectively put up prices, by increasing the price cap … 

Is decidedly unwelcome.

The Daily Teaser — 6-8-2013: The World Wide Web … !

You know, I think the Cyberpunk future’s getting nearer.

The idea — in several different novel, William Gibson being most prominent — is that the future would be grittier, grimier and a hell of a lot more expensive.

And one in which all sorts of technology would be easily harnessed: the internet — appropriately, given today’s them — amongst them.

Body part replacements another: whether by artificial parts, or artificial made organic replacements.

Then there’s other things.   After all, the logical extension of artificially grown organs for surgery … is artificially grown food.

Like the grown in the lab, stem cell burger announced, yesterday.

I know shades of artificial human organs are possible: and realise for many that’s a very worthwhile thing.

I think stem cell burgers — and other such foods — will be, too.   After a lot of arguing …

Ah …

Now that’s a welcome piece of news, I think.

I’ve just managed to catch this article on the BBC’s site.

About how ICANN, the body responsible for managing the Internet, has now given final approval to the ‘.xxx’ domain.

The domain name allows for adult sites to be grouped together under one banner.

Now some in the adult entertainment industry are complaining this will lead to its ghettoisation: and various religious groupings have argued this will legitimise the industry.

Personally … ?

Personally, I’ll happily admit that — like a lot of men and one or two of my female friends — I’ve watched some entertainingly explicit material.

But it’s material I think may well be inappropriate for anyone under 18 to go near: my former partner, Allison would certainly give me an earful if I let Squeaky near anything untoward, while she was using the Mac Mini, or Archie, the Dell Pc, just behind me, with a version of Arch Linux.

I’m also very aware that one or two friends and co-workers — much more devout than me — may not be be happy about a .xxx domain: but would probably be happy about being able to filter the contents.

Personally … ?
