It’s now Wednesday: and, frankly, I’m looking forward to payday!

I get my PIP, my Personal Independence Payment, in a couple of days.

And, frankly?

It would be nice to buy a cheeky takeaway.

Oh, I caught some TV, last night: the first few episodes of Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord: a spin-off featuring the character from The Phantom Menace.

The show’s dark, doomy, and you can see the influence of Blade Runner from half a mile away.

But … ?

It’s officially Tuesday: which means that it’s raining!

It also means my nephew was over, last night: still in mourning for a much loved pet rabbit … but in a place where he could to do something about it.

Yep: he’s made a video and uploaded it to YouTube.

I’ve been following the news: including the news that the Manchester Arena bomber, Hashem Abedi, has attacked prison officers in HMP Frankland.

According to a letter seen by the BBC?

The families of his victims haver said:

“… [Abedi] should not have access to anything that he can weaponise”.

Seemingly, he’d made improvised knives from baking trays.

I’m sympathetic to the families.

But also very aware prisoners can turn anything into a weapon.

Jam jars, Marmite jars and peanut butter jars, can be put into socks: and used as improvised coshes.

That’s why, I’m told, prisoners are only allowed sachets.

Cut off the bristles of a toothbrush, melt the head with a lighter, and attach razor blades … and you have an improvised knife.

The amount of each a prisoner has are supposed to be monitored.

I’m told spray on deodorant isn’t allowed in prison: that and a lighter gives you a flamethrower.

Then there’s rolled up bedsheets: garrottes and rope.

You can turn toilet roll into string, the same way.

When the families say Abedi shouldn’t have things that can be weaponised, I think they are well meaning … but a little innocent.

Prisons are full of people who can weaponise anything.

Right … it’s now Monday!

Which means — obviously — I’m up early: as I’m off to my weight management meeting, today.

Hopefully?

And after gaining for the past few weeks?

I’ll’ve lost weight for once!

I’ll watch videos on Youtube: WhoCulture and TrekCulture are favourites: as is Tom Harries/Tharries.

Occasionally?

I’ll watch technology channels: there’s a few on YouTube.

I keep an eye on some of the Mac themed ones, obviously.

One of those is a channel called iJustine: run by a vlogger called Justine Ezarik.

Both her, Marques Brownlee and the LMG-produced Mac Address, hosted by Jonathan Horst*, are quite respected.

At any rate … ?

I managed to catch Justine’s review to the base model M2 Mac mini, yesterday: the same model sitting not far from where I am now sitting.

Here’s the review: 

If I’ve understood Justine correctly?

The model she bought, the one sitting next to me, is capable of editing 8k video.

Given the right software: in her review, Justine uses Apple’s own Final Cut Pro.

I’m mildly impressed.

I did not expect the baseline mini to be that capable!

15th April, 2023: Insulin.

Ongoing issues … is a lovely phrase.

The reason I mention that … ?

Is that I’m having some!

Remember, I attended a tribunal at the end of March: and was told I’d hear what happened, by post, by 7th April, this year.

I ended up getting that confirmation by email … on the day after the bank holidays.

I had won my case: and was — and am — waiting to hear from the Department of Work and Pensions, the DWP, about any awards, any extra financial help.

With that in mind?

I phoned the DWP on 4th April: to ask what would be happening.

And told that my case officer would phone me by 6pm on the 5th April.

I didn’t hear a thing.

I phoned in, again, yesterday, the 14th of April.

And was told I’d hear by 6pm — 18:00 hours — that day.

From the same case officer.

I didn’t hear a thing.

I can appreciate that DWP staff are busy.

But?

How long does it take a body to inform some one of what’s happening?

To tell a worried customer what’s going to happen … ?

Too long, obviously.

It’s official: it’s now Good Friday.

Which means you can over-do the hot cross buns.

Unless you’re on a diet, or diabetic: you’ll have to have the low sugar, diabetic friendly ones.

Either way?   Have a good day, if you’re marking it.

Just don’t end up getting menaced by Pierce Brosnan!

I had my nephew, Jude, over, yesterday.

Yes: there’s another video.

He and Jaskaran both ended up shooting each other in a game of Minecraft.

I follow the news: and can see, sometimes, where it goes.

Or, at least, where it’s been.

A day or two ago, I read that there’d been attempts to kidnap’s Germany’s health minister, whilst simultaneously causing severe power cuts.   By a group calling itself the United Patriots.

It sounds potentially nasty.

But to me, having grown up hearing stories about World War Two?

Vaguely familiar.

Did you ever hear about the Beer Hall Putsch?   The attempted coup led by Adolf Hitler, in 1923?

That’s the first thing I thought of, when I heard about the recent plot.

Very aware that — during his gaol sentence for the Putsch — Hitler wrote Mein Kampf: his poisonous autobiography, whilst in prison for the attempt.

Something he and the Nazis used as propaganda in their rise to power,

I can’t help but wonder what — given that — will happen to this lot.

I can only hope they don’t end up burning down the Reichstag …

Hmmm … 

I had an interview, yesterday … one I think hasn’t gone well: frankly, I made a point of mentioning I’d been shielding, and in a COVID vulnerable group … and asked about start dates.

Mentioning that I was hoping to start in June, after I’d had my second jab: which is understandable.

The company were after an immediate start.

Hmmm … 

I think I may have shot myself in the foot, there.

There’s upsides.

I’ve learnt a little about how to use Zoom.

And they’ve asked me to get back in touch in June: assuming I’m still free.

So that’s something …

15th April, 2020.

I think I’ve mention this once or twice, already: but I’m diabetic.

I have to be care what I eat, for the most part.

I’m getting heartily sick of red sweet potatoes, I know that!

But getting the hang of brown rice.

Especially with soy sauce.

At any rate … ?

I’ve just picked up my second batch of Metformin: the commonest drug used to treat the condition.

Along side the original batch … ?

I got a warning that it could cause diarrhoea.

Which was … fun … 

But generally hasn’t been too bad.

I’ve mostly had had to put up with the farts, to be frank.

The two metre social distancing rules have been appreciated, there!

But, of course, that original batch ran out.

Which meant picking up a second batch, yesterday.

And … ?   My pharmacist has switched manufacturers … 

Which meant I got another case of the trots.

My bathroom door has never had that much exercise.

A few days ago, I found out that some one had attacked 5g phone masts.

In the mistaken belief that the things were responsible for the coronavirus.

Something I felt was wrongheaded, at least, and downright stupid at most.

Well … 

There’s been more attacks: including one on the Birmingham Nightingale.

You have to ask, don’t you?

How idiotic ARE these people?

It’s official: I’m going to be looking after my nephew, this afternoon.

I’ve just seen this piece flat past past on the Today programme.

Seemingly?

The TSB bank has announced that it will refund any of its customers who’ve been victims of online fraud.

Frankly?

I like it.

It’s going to cost them a fortune, I think.

AND they’ll need to be their eyes open for those trying to milk the system.

But … ?

It’ll be wonderful for customers.

Yes: it’s officially official … 

I’m having trouble with my hot water.

Normally, the boiler’s supposed to give hot water: regardless of whether the heating’s on.   It’s a combi boiler: I’m assuming that’s how they’re supposed to work, as that’s what’s mine’s done for the past decade.

At any rate … ?

Ever since the mandatory gas safety check, a few months ago … ?

The thing’s … only really given hot water when the heating’s been on.

Fair enough during winter.

But a little bit iffy, during a slowly heating up spring and summer.

Which is why, only a few minutes ago?   I paid a discrete visit to my landlord’s website.

To make use of their ‘Report a Repair’ page.

Frankly?

This is getting silly!

I’m a Dr Who fan: you’ve possibly noticed.

So I’m a fan who’s kicking himself, today.

I’m kicking myself for not getting the day off: when the opening episode of series ten is on.

What CAN I tell you?

I CAN tell you I’ve caught a clip of Peter Capaldi being interviewed by Graham Norton.

One where he says he’s ‘already filmed his character’s death.’

At a guess?   The Christmas episode will be interesting.

That’s point a.

Point b … ?

I don’t know for sure.   But think the 13th Doctor has been cast: and the 12th knows who it is …

The Daily Teaser — 15-4-2016

I’d like to know what happened there … 

I don’t know how much of the news you follow, here in the UK.

But something I saw, late last night?   Was the news that a three-year-child was kidnapped by two teenaged girls: in Newcastle.

The child was found after about an hour.

Personally?   I can’t be the only person who automatically though we — potentially — were looking at another Jamie Bulger: the two year old kidnapped and murdered by two ten year olds.

I think yesterday’s kidnapping could have gone the same way.   I couldn’t tell you for sure … but the fact my first thought was of the Bulger case will show you the way I was thinking.

There’s possibly a lot I — or any of us — could say about what the two girls did.

We could be throwing around the word ‘evil.’

Something I think would be a simplistic way of describing their actions.

But personally?

I have questions.

Not least of which?

Why did they do it?
